I wanted to cry when i saw their teacher waiting for them in the chair before hugging them. They spend so much time with the teachers, and without their parents there im sure their teachers must be proud too!

I am so happy for Ella and Mayumi! I was a little surprised Valeriia wasn't given an offer in place of Ella (though I love Ella)--maybe just style differences? Happy that Valeriia accepted the offer at Joffrey! That's huge! :)
Yes, Ella's dancing doesn't compare to Valeriia's IMO.
+Lauren b I've been wondering if Valriia said no to Miami, maybe off-camera? She really was brilliant, and Joffrey making an offer, as well as ABT offering a second audition - that doesn't usually happen to dancers turned down by Miami...
+uclmu2008 I wouldn't be surprised if that's exactly what happened. Miami City Ballet was never going to hold on to a Vaganova graduate, especially not one that good. I'm a little surprised ABT didn't make an offer right off, but the Joffrey is a fantastic place for her and I'm sure she'll do amazing work there.

I CRIED SO MUCH WHEN MAYUMI GOT THE CONTRACT! The fact that she's Brazilian like me is so amazing, because it's very hard to succeed as a dancer having started here, and she did it! I don't know if she can read this, but if she can, Mayumi, você dança muito muito muito muito bem, eu fiquei muito feliz quando você conseguiu o contrato, e sua carreira não para por aí. Eu sei que, daqui a uns 15 anos, quando eu colocar minha futura filha em aulas de Ballet, ela vai ouvir as professoras falarem de seu sucesso e eu poderei dizer que assisti um de seus passos, mesmo que pela internet! Beijo do Brasil!

15 years of my life was dedicated to this and sadly I had to give it up but seeing others succeed makes me so happy. I can only imagine the joy of realizing your plan for the future is open to you
Wow. That's so gracious. Like having carrying for 9 months and laboring and never holding your promise! Ballet training really toughens a person. Dancers have so much grit and character. God bless you! (You should teach. Lots of poor little girls cant afford lessons. We never got that far even. .)

I loved this season of Strictly Ballet so much. I love Strictly Ballet. Please do a 3rd season in San Francisco Ballet or actually anywhere just please do a 3rd season, i think all ballet fans need it.

I met Loudes Lopez many years ago in the lobby of NYCBallet and she was just a lovely person, so kind. I told her I had seen her dance with Peter Martins in 1976 at Goucher College in Baltimore and she was quite happy to hear it. When we spoke, perhaps 15 years later, she was a principal with NYCBallet.
Please do the next "Strictly Ballet" at the Master Ballet Academy!

Did ballet all my life as a child. Danced at the Kennedy center, auditioned for Kirov, danced at duke ellengton. And all I have to say is that the aches and pains aren't worth it.
Glad I got out of it when my body started to say "b**** enough!"
I performed at the Kennedy center as well for Joffrey ballet in NY I did the nutcracker and it was amazing! I'm still dancing now and all the aches and pains are worth it to me! And you must have been good to get into Kirov? Other then the pain why did you quit?

I find it so interesting that Lourdes Lopez, the Director of Miami City Ballet is connected to SAB and the New York City Ballet Company that is the centre of the first season as she studied at SAB and was a principal dancer there at SAB.

Also that Kathryn Morgan studied at SAB & became a soloist at NYCB and is now a soloist at MCB.
@@heyryanisonx3141 Kathryn Morgan left after a disappointing year, she was hardly given any roles because they thought she wasn’t skinny enough 😡

This was such a beautiful episode! I loved it when the dancer got a spot in the company! It totally melted my heart and I cried like a baby!
I have so much respect for these people including the back stage people that help get them dressed and make-up and all the things no one ever thinks about but without everyone.......NOTHING happens and there is no show. So hard, such a toll on the body and the stress of it all and endless practice while never ending diets happen and they make so little money in the beginning at least. I wish they all knew they make this world a lot nicer, more bearable place to live and without the artists in this world, I would not make it in this life.
Mayumi having someone in the company like Natalia is a big reminder of how important representation can be. I’m Chinese, and when I first saw Tan Yuanyuan dance I sort of latched onto the fact that there’s another person like me who’s made it
This whole series has been very inspiring to watch. Congratulations to all of you even though its a few years later. I watch stuff like this if I’m feeling depressed or whatever, you all really bring light and happiness to the world. Thank you for sharing your journeys and your talents!

wow i just looked up Valeriia on the Joffrey Ballet's website (where she is an artist, the company has no ranks), and apparently she joined 2 professional companies in Russia (where she was a soloist in one of them) prior to coming to MCB school, 2 years after her vaganova graduation! She definitely has a different mindset as compared to the rest of the students here.
You could tell she was a bit more polished than the rest.
No one here, is as polished as the ones in SAB. :)) But Ella, here has a very good personality.
This is not only about ballet. This is dream!

guys, this is a strictly honest feedback, very impartial. I think Carlos Valdes needs to work more in the basics of ballet, tremendous jump and split on the air, but he needs to really work in pointing his toes, stretching more his feet, and really really works on his en dehors. He is still young, he can achieve a great, clean performance. Good Luck and work as hard as the best.
….WOW ! ...as a male, watching this in 2020...its ... what a tear-jerker …..happy tears, tho ..I kinda felt Mayumi would get in.. she has the classic ballerina physique .. (YAAY !! )
