“Shattered the system”: Conservatives question Trudeau’s immigration policy change

- Following a joint Thursday announcement from Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and Immigration Minister Marc Miller that Canada will reduce the number of new permanent residents by 21 per cent by next year, Conservative MPs questioned the Liberals’ intentions. The Opposition also alleged the federal government “shattered the system” and “broke the consensus on immigration” already.
“Instead of blaming everyone else, including immigrants like myself, will [Trudeau] just admit that he shattered the immigration system and caused lasting damage to Canada's housing market?” Conservative MP Tom Kmiec asked during question period in the House of Commons on Thursday.
Though Trudeau was not in attendance, Miller defended himself and the Liberal leader, saying that “What we proposed is a plan for controlled migration. We're proud of it. It serves Canadians well.”
Earlier in the day, Trudeau said the new policy comes as part of a major series of changes to immigration targets that aim to freeze population growth. He also said his party “didn't get the balance quite right” between addressing labour needs and maintaining population growth, as Canada emerged from the COVID-19 pandemic.

If you call the amount and intent of all the immigrants we've recieved in the last half decade as 'skills based' 🤨 then you're delusional.
Take a look around.
Most of our recent immigration has not been skilled. To be skilled you need a trade certification, a degree from a proper college/university, etc etc.

This used to be true for a while, but liberals have completely broken the system. Many recent immigrants are unskilled, which killed the entry-level job market. The numbers are off the charts, which derailed the housing market. Healthcare is also very strained at the moment. We can expect very high crime rates in the near future as a result. The Canadian dream of the younger generation is "get out". And everyone in the world now looks at Canadian example as an absolute disaster, an example of how NOT to do things.
