Once affluent areas Quigney and Southernwood now known for being dangerous

Quigney and Southernwood were once known as the affluent areas surrounding the Central Business District in East London under the Buffalo City Metro. Now, these two areas are notoriously known as some of the dangerous neighbourhoods in the city with dilapidated infrastructure and criminal activities abound.

I grew up in the Quigney during the 60's and 70's and it never looked like this. The Quigney camp site was extremely popular with the holiday makers. The Quigney area and Orient Beach was a safe place for everyone, you could walk around without the fear of been attacked or killed.
