Damn that part about him saying let him shoot it from 40 is crazy. Because until Steph, you literally are taught that if someone shoots that it is the worst shot possible and don’t even worry about it. Let them do it. So you don’t even fathom the idea of what to do if someone consistently hits it, because its never happened. Now Steph comes and literally breaks that whole mold and you literally are just stuck because this shouldn’t be possible according to all basketball logic.

And there you have it....as a basketball fan and someone who plays on the weekends....everything he said is true. It's replicated in rec ball now as well. In today's basketball, the offense doesn't even care of the defense...in decades past basketball, offenses would try to trick the defense

I would have subbed because this a really good interview, but man you can't be on that "I hate the warriors they should have never won, and if they didn't go and get KD they would have never won". Even Iman shied away from agreeing with that. As a Kobe-era Lakers fan, I watched this team in 2012-14. I understood that this team wasn't far from being great. Klay was lights out, going to shoot it and score. Curry was this silent monster whose shot was so perfect (you wanted it to miss but it kept going in). If Kobe didn't shoot those last 2 shots on his torn achilles in 2013, Curry would have been the highlight of that game with 9-3pts on 60% 47 points.
Steve Kerr is what made the Warriors a champion not KD. They needed his experience as a player and a coach to help them become the monster they became. He used all of that knowledge from Popp, Phil, Alvin Gentry, and Mike D'antoni to help the shooters on the team, which opened up the inside game. You can't sit here and deny Steve Kerr is props.... no disrespect to Mark Jackson, but Kerr's impact on the team was greater than KD alone

Shump leaves out that in the 2016 series Curry was rushed back in less than 2 weeks from a Grade 2 MCL sprain, by the time he was in the Finals he couldn't defend and he could barely get separation, that's why he was calling for help. The Warriors made a mistake rushing him back, they could have beaten Portland without him and given Curry an extra week and a half.

Confession: That part around 36:20 ish when Shump is talking about how Steph was scared to guard Kyrie....i love that sh*t. I know, it's no secret that Kyrie burned Steph a lot, but just hearing it said out loud by a player....man, i listened to that part about 20 times. Just makes me feel good.
[And the truth is, i do really like Steph, i just like hating him on the court because of the style and shift in the game that he represents.]

@@FragologistDreDid any of you ever think that the coaching staff preferred that Klay defend Kyrie because of his length and so as to not exhaust their primary scoring option in the defensive end? Plus Klay is the better one on one defender of the two. Kyrie can afford to expend energy chasing and defending Steph since he has Bron to fall back on the other end in terms of scoring and facilitating. Additionally how many of rhe league’s points can successfully defend one another one-on-one? As Iman said after awhile it became a pride thing and Curry went against the team’s defensive strategy regarding Kyrie and took on the responsibility. Strange that folks want to talk about how great Kyrie is but when it comes to Steph defending him, they talk as if he should be ashamed for getting scored upon by him. The NBA’s elite point guard light one another up on a regular basis.
