This year I ground egg shells up in my coffee grinder and put a teaspoon at the bottom of the hole when planting so looking forward to see what happens as I got blossom end rot for the first time

Your container garden is looking wonderful 👍 you mentioned yesterday I think, not sure, about pouring boiling water on compost for those dreadful black tiny fly things, where do you do it Ivan, before planting? I've got a few not many but I try to bottom water, thanks.

For my pots (where you can) put a saucer/drip tray underneath, that way your pots retain a lot of the feed that flushes out and the roots can soak it back up.

The best fertilizer for potatoes will be one with higher levels of potassium and phosphorus than nitrogen. A good ratio for a suitable potato fertilizer would have the second and third numbers up to twice the size of the first, for example 5-10-10

Hi Ivan, Can Tomato Feed be used on beetroots and carrots? I have used it a couple of times but started to think that as they are root veg I was concerned. Love what you do and your knowledge. You explain everything so well.

The issue I've hand with fertilizing is down to how wet the weather has been. I've had a few plants get root rot due to the rain and I don't think adding water fertilizer will help that. In this case is it always best to use powder fetlizer so the rain can wash the nutrient through itself, rather than me adding to the problem?

On the eggshell front. I have two coffee grinders one in the kitchen, and one in my poly house. This one I use for eggshells , grinding them to powder for super quick decomposition ,for a fine sprinkle around my tommies 😊 Also Handy for other applications. Also ,an old beat up food processor, I use for accelerating comfrey tea composting etc. I’m fortunate though being a retired sparks, have power in shed and poly house. Good post Ivan, keep up good work.

If you crush up a couple of Rennie type indigestion tablets in every can of water for tomatoes it adds calcium and prevents blossom end rot

We've had so much rain this year that my plants all need a good feed. Every time I decide to feed them it has rained again. How do you feed when it pours?

I thought you had to wait for the first flowers to appear before feeding, but I'll start this weekend.

I powder my eggshells in a pestle and mortar and add it to the compost, seems to help the tomatoes

All 12 of our Minibel dwarf tomato plants look like they’re dying & we are so upset. The leaves are such a pale green colour & they’re definitely not thriving. Have done everything by the book so no idea what’s happened. Very sad to watch.
Your container garden is looking amazing though Ivan👍🏻Annie
