I've had those days - busting up all around and taking nothing. What I found was to down size - 3gram to 10gram tiny metal lures in various colours, and 2" soft plastic minnows in various colours usually work when the bigger stuff ain't.
Thanks Anthony! Sorry for the late one - missed YT notifications. That was my thinking in more recent times and I still can’t get them to eat ~3” slugs on 17lb leader!
@@PaulMalovFishing no worries! With the 3g - these are 40mm lures, so very tiny but just what they were looking for. The challenge is getting the right hooks since they often come with tiny trebles for ice fishing more than anything
Gillies do some great little, micro metals that I cast off the beach for Salmon and Tailor and it sure doesn’t equate that little presentations equals little fish, no sometimes they really like the little ones. The best often the ones just plain metal. These ones I think give that flash in the water from sun above.
I can totally relate to that excitement 😁 I recently took my 12 foot tinny out for my first ever tuna chase and was lucky enough to score one right at the end of the day 😁 But half the fun is just being out there and seeing what happens, aye! That salmon school coming right up to the boat would have been terrific 🤘👍👍
Hey I recon the old Aussie salmon are pretty good on the chew mate so not a total disappointment. And a day on the water has gotta be better then a day at work.. Great video mate.
Did u know that our species of dolphins in port Phillip bay are the only ones of their kind, they have adapted and evolved to live here, also live squid is excellent bait for kingies and there’s a bunch near the heads and tuna in Portland
Will have some squid out with us next time for sure! Didn’t know that about the dolphins though, thank you! Sorry for late one - missed YT notifications
SOrry for the late one mate - no issues here at all with any cracking. Haven't had it out in really really rough stuff and if we do, definitely don't punch it through, a bit more gentle with all our gear these days and don't want to bang ourselves up!
Hi mate, looks like you had some good conditions in the day. Do you remember what the swell height was? I have a small boat myself and keen to head down west for the first time. Cheers
Your videos are awsome been fallowing you for some time now. I was just wondering if that's a minn kota riptide ulterra in the front of your boat?reason why I'm asking is because I need to choose either the minn kota or the motoguide xi5.
Nick Marangos thanks Nick! Hope you’re well mate. Yeah we have a Minn Kota on the front. From memory it’s just an older Rip Tide model and not the Ulterra. Had the xi5 on my previous boat and it was great too. Lowrance is coming out with an electric motor in the next week or so too. What boat do you have and how urgently do you need a new electric?
@@PaulMalovFishing thanks for the quick reply mate! My boat is a Olympic 500ccf I'm told a 55lbs is good enough for my boat. I'm not in a hurry, don't want to buy a problematic trolling motor. Plus I need to see what's the best buy since I have to buy it from over seas preferably a dealer in Europe so I don't get taxed.
No idea on pricing yet mate. Initial word is it’ll be focusedon the bass/bass boat market and then branch out to longer shaft lengths for bigger boats like ours and saltwater models. Expecting the 80lb 24v setup to be at least $25-2800 but have nothing to back that up. But that’s roughly what other products are going for with similar features. Few more days to go before the new electrics are announced at iCast in the US
Thanks bud I'll keep an eye on it to see what it's all about and than choose from the 3 the best one for my needs. Keep fishing man post up your awsome videos!!! Gets the blood pumping to want to go out and slay the fish!
Hey John, I think it’s a tremendous all rounder mate. From offshore, to the bay, to tournaments if you wish. Good fitout; fit and finish, good hull shape for a smooth/relatively dry ride (compared to other similar boats) - will never be as smooth as a glass hull! And good value for money! But have all definitely increased in cost over the last 12 months
geoff stein thanks Geoff. Amazing boats for the size and money mate. Driving to the conditions with the right amount of trim she was dry and soft riding offshore for what’s essentially a small side console. Very capable all rounder
On a calm wind and swell day, i think i'd still be confident and comfortable out there, but a Renegade 420 would be about the limit of my comfort. I know guys who have done it in a 435 Hornet in years gone by, but that the Renegade is a safer hull for the ocean IMO.
Some days absolutely, other days when they're milling on the surface, a stickbait or popper seems to be the go! But continuing to learn, that's for sure!
Organise the bottom of your boat, it is a floating trip hazard. If you go over, when they retrieve your body, the GoPro footage will be mandatory boat safety viewing WORLDWIDE Paul. It will be your final contribution to maritime history.
@@PaulMalovFishing God Bless you Paul. I just see it all the time, floating pig sties. They catch a fish and then lay the rod down to be scratched or broken. Instead of landing the fish and holstering the butt in a rod holder, or even just a plastic cup tied to something. Then you've got an extra hand free and the rod in position where it isn't in the way.
Good video it’s good to see people doing different fishing in smaller boats love to see more

Yeah something to consider for sure. I’ve added a few small items since this trip to the arsenal!

Good to see a 460 getting used out wide. I’m looking at one at the moment and want to do a fair bit of blue water stuff in it.
Adventure Forever they’re a fantastic all rounder mate!
I'd be looking at something bigger if your going to do off shore a lot.
Fantastic work mate! Keep them coming. It's a pitty no tuna or king's. Next time!!! 117km wowsers.
good work mate, I just got a 460 renegade also with the offshore hull and the same motor... I love the thing also!!!

Have you Eve taken that boat mate through a bar with big swell?
Also how does it handle the chop and have you had any cracks?

It's in the description Ethan. :) Quintrex Renegade 460SC.

Nice video, Paul. Do you have any issues with the low transom when you go offshore?
Kevin Lin hey Kevin. No issues mate. They do make one with a much higher transom just for that reason but we haven’t had any waves come over yet
Were were u fishing 🎣
Out of Port Fairy
Nice video what outboard you got on it?
Hey Stanko, it's a 70hp Yamaha 4 stroke. Sorry for the late reply!

Lady Julia Percy Island is home to a seal colony and lots and lots of er.... big White things its lucky you didnt run into 4 metres of teeth !

just trolling mate, i bet u catch a lot more with trolling.

Fair call Scotty - was my first time out and excited, will make sure to tidy up a bit more and remove and tripping hazards in future
