Liked the video, however, the comparison review does not tell me a lot about the two kayaks. Perhaps you should have tried the Explorer out on the same stretch of water. Explorer for me because I already have the Sandbanks Optimal. Kayaks do seem tippy at first, if you are new to the hobby. So probably best to start with a more stable kayak. I also have the Perception Expression 11 which is a lovely kayak for beginners, although not a sit on top.
Hi! I've kayaked for 20 years or so, so not new to the hobby, but as I explained in the video I have balance issues after a hemiplegic migraine. This wasn't intended to be a comparison - I went to buy the sandbanks. Having found it far too tippy for me though (and their Optimal basically being equivalent to 2 paddle boards stuck together with a hole in, so no proper bend for knees), I then went looking elsewhere.
Considering Sandbanks Explorer myself as to seems much more spacious and the 'balance' issue doesn't bother me so much but will try out in Sandbanks in a couple of weeks time with my (small) Border Collie. Also would rather support a small family business. But will check out 'hippiness' first hand before I buy!
I've ended up with a Razor R2 ultra, which suits me down to the ground, but obviously we're all looking for different things out of a kayak, which is why it's great to have such a range on offer 🙂
These two kayaks are different. The Itiwit is more suitable for people who want loads of stability above all else. On the flipside however the Sandbanks Explorer and other kayaks of the same design are much faster in a straight line and track much better.
Doesn't seam to be a balanced review, first boat is crappie and gets hardly any info, second boat gets a detailed view on how to set it up, two different outings. Don't give up your day job! Thanks anyway just Doesn't seam very balanced!
Don't panic, not giving up the day job! I was on a pavement setting up the first one with limited time - I also expected to love it and be able to give a proper review later. You could hear the wind noise - there was no point doing much more talking. The first was easier to set up, double the price and brilliant quality as I said, just not right for me (to the point I physically couldn't stay in it longer to give a better review). I'll put more details on both in the description 👍
Excellent points raised. Great vid.
Thank you - the Sandbanks staff were so helpful and lovely, as were the Decathlon staff 😊
Well your Dog loved both of them .😊
She did! ☺️

Yes they are completely different, which is what I said 🙂
