As a 60 year old, I can recall Naushad Ali in the 70s decrying the music of the day as "shorgul" ( RD in particular was his target ). This was quite clearly an old timer who was caught off guard by the changing times and changing tastes and decrying them since it had made him irrelevant. In fact this probably led to his not so well hidden prejudice against Kishor Kumar. When Abhijit and Kumar Sanu decry the high pitch singing in today's film music, it is basically because they cannot do it and so have become irrelevant. They were good singers in the day when songs were made with their voice in mind ( Kumar Sanu in particular had a rather limited range which is ok since within that range he sounded good ), but that doesnt mean that today's singers are inferior ( in fact , many of them are superior technically ). As Rajesh Khanna said in one of his speeches, "Yeh bhi ek daur hai , woh bhi ek daur tha". While I like quite a few of Abhijit's and Kumar Sanu's songs , it doesnt mean that they are superior to today's singers and so their utterances have to be seen for what they are which is basically bitterness at a world that they dont understand .. ( trust me, you have to reach a certain age before you understand that feeling ).

As a 60 year old, I can recall Naushad Ali in the 70s decrying the music of the day as "shorgul" ( RD in particular was his target ). This was quite clearly an old timer who was caught off guard by the changing times and changing tastes and decrying them since it had made him irrelevant. In fact this probably led to his not so well hidden prejudice against Kishor Kumar. When Abhijit and Kumar Sanu decry the high pitch singing in today's film music, it is basically because they cannot do it and so have become irrelevant. They were good singers in the day when songs were made with their voice in mind ( Kumar Sanu in particular had a rather limited range which is ok since within that range he sounded good ), but that doesnt mean that today's singers are inferior ( in fact , many of them are superior technically ). As Rajesh Khanna said in one of his speeches, "Yeh bhi ek daur hai , woh bhi ek daur tha". While I like quite a few of Abhijit's and Kumar Sanu's songs , it doesnt mean that they are superior to today's singers and so their utterances have to be seen for what they are which is basically bitterness at a world that they dont understand .. ( trust me, you have to reach a certain age before you understand that feeling ).
I love Abhijit from heart. He is the one singer I see myself as. I love all his songs ..reason is his VOICE
