One thing that Benelli doesn't mention well enough is that the auto safety CAN be converted to a traditional manual safety by the end user. I feel that Benelli not mentioning this will otherwise disuade many American shooters from purchasing an 828.
i just watched 3 videos on this gun. That was never mentioned I hate auto safety. until your comment i was about to write this benelli off and i like benelli!
You can disable the automatic safety in less than a minute. Remove the trigger group and you will see what looks like a funny U shaped spring on the top of the trigger group. Pull the sides out, remove it, and voila , you know have a manual safety. Cheers
Very good video but you could say how it feels to shoot and the trigger action etc. It's a pretty gun and one I am interested in as an alternative to my excellent but old Browning Ultra XTR. Pity it doesn't have 30" barrels which would be better for trap shooting here in Europe.
Unfortunately, its an old broadcast & it explains that the gun comes with either 26'' or 28'' barrels !!!! However, due to popular demand in Europe, the 828U now comes with either 30'' or 32'' barrels in addition to its previous barrel length.
I just purchased mine but haven't shot it yet. I'm a novice (and female) clays shooter and am wondering if I should have gone with the 26" barrel over the 28". The 28" barrel was lighter than the other brands I looked at (including the Browning Cynergy & Cynergy Field) with a 26" barrel. I was told that the recoil would be significantly less and I would be able to hit targets farther away with the longer barrel. I wasn't worried about the shoulder recoil until I saw this video review. Looks like it kicks quite a bit even with the progressive comfort recoil pad....not to mention the biting of the cheek!
Nice gun , but for $2800. I'll wait a minute or two to see about the reliability. Some nice features, but I hate guns that are a bitch to disassemble. I am unsure of that with this video. Thank you for the review !
+mrbakerskatz I don't know of a gun that is any easier to disassemble than this gun. The entire trigger mech comes out for cleaning plus, you can make the safety manual instead of automatic by removing a sping. I think it's a beautiful looking gun and from the reviews I've read, it seems to shoot great too. I can't wait to get my hands on one.
+jack morrison I am considering this gun... but I don't have a lot of experience with O/U guns. From your experience, why do you not think this gun will do well?
Its priced to high for what it is as a sporting clays gun it has absolutely nothing new or anything to give a advantage. As a hunting its simply too expensive and gets rid of what could be a traditional look (this is my opinion like i said it could do well i just personally dont think so)
OK... We were in Pensacola this past week and paid the Bass Pro in Destin a visit. I've read great reviews on the Winchester 101's, but they all have looked pretty plain. They had one that was gorgeous. The wood was a beautiful flamed walnut that I've not seen on a sub $3K gun... I bought it. The hunt is over. I agree regarding the price... I like the nontraditional look of the 828, but not the price..
+hdaniels30 good choice i shoot with a guy that had one in 20 gauge for years and pushed it hard and it took everything he could throw at it. have fun with it!
I love my Benellis, but they are semi's not O/U's. Lightweight, short barreled 12 gauges are going to recoil regardless of the innovations. I would never spend this kind of money on a gun without being able to shoot one first. It's just an aesthetic thing for me but I don't like the separated barrels either. The price tag is too high for me and I won't be getting rid of my 101's or my Beretta 686 anytime soon. Sorry Benelli, like I said I love my M1 and M2 but I'm out on this one.
You can tell he's not an OU owner way too rough with the gun not that the gun can't handle it but if he spent he's own money on it he would be alot more gentle
+Heath Thompson I don't know about you guys but mine brand new was difficult to close, so you kinda had to be aggressive with it, now I don't as much, but I forget during competitions some. Not like slamming it closed, but not just barely closing it either.
+Mr. Speedy Sorry didn't mean to sound critical. ya mines real stiff too but I always get a rash of shit if I'm too rough on the action. they do loosen up over time thanks
The 828U in the Silver Receiver sells for MSRP $2999. THE Black Receiver 828U sells for MSRP $1999. I suppose if you want Italian quality it comes at a price!
I think you should understand the product. . Before doing a video. Or at the very least.. update your video with text.. stating it can have the auto safety - removed. Remove The spring on the internal trigger mech will take the auto safety off. Lovely shotgun.. shame the video is somewhat inaccurate. .and leaves you feeling ..why did I watch this.
You should learn how to handle a shotgun, how to use the secure , and how to close the shotgun without make that sounds ...like when you sit in a nice car you don't shout the door like that... anyway benelli nel sangue 💚🤍❤️
I have this gun now for 1.5 years, and today it broke for the third time... First it was the ejector, now it is the triggergroupe that falls out during shooting. Never buy this gun!
Why should you need to clean the trigger group of a shotgun? Its not getting dirty. Or do you see other people with shotguns without removable triggers run to the gunsmith every year?
Great review , thank you. That gun will not do well for benelli. They make great semi autos but that gun in that price range ,not worth it. You can buy a browning for that price.

yep.. and i saw during the shot show review and your home field review the ejectors failed on you at least twice...

+quantin9 good point
i just watched 3 videos on this gun. That was never mentioned

until your comment i was about to write this benelli off and i like benelli!
It’s very easy to change too
You can disable the automatic safety in less than a minute. Remove the trigger group and you will see what looks like a funny U shaped spring on the top of the trigger group. Pull the sides out, remove it, and voila , you know have a manual safety.
Cheers
I just did it on mine in a minute too
I purchased the 828u Sport it's been 4 years since your posting I was hoping maybe you can provide some feedback on your life with the 828u system.
I love my 828U, it is my shotgun of choice when shooting skeet.
How much price ??? We use for hunting....reply me plz
Lol you could see him flinch on the shot where he forget to take the safety off. Looks like that gun isn't too friendly recoil wise.
I saw somewhere that the auto safety can be disabled, so that isn't a problem, it just needs a longer heavier barrel for clay shooting.
the manual on mine says there's a spring in the trigger group you have to remove to disable it
the gun at the gun show was probably used so the recoil pad would have seen a little bit of use before you shot it compared to the new one

Just an educational question:Anodized receiver is made of aluminum?Nickel receiver is made out of steel?
The automatic safety can be removed according to benelli quite easily
That's not true, it's easy just a little wire
Pretty sure Benelli provided 1oz light loads at shot show
very nice

is the cost of production that much more than a benelli legacy semi-auto? I'm not getting it, niche market?
Can we use the basic model to shoot with my left hand
Nice gun , but for $2800. I'll wait a minute or two to see about the reliability.

Personally, as a sporting clays shooter, I don't really think this gun will do too well in that market. But who knows

jack morrison i've read some reviews where they were bought as a back up, and ended up being the main squeeze. I appreciate your time!
What material is used in the receiver..?
What Barrel length did you test
What kinda of guns are Benelli known for?
How did the triggers feel?
Well there goes my tax return...

will they make a 30" barrel, seems it won't suit most trap shooters at 28"
Agreed, i sure hope they do.
Lmbo at the price!
cost plz
hello can i use for skeet shooting
+Ayman Abu sada of course with the right choke
of course. its got two barrels there for doubles, i plan on buying one primarily for shooting skeet
Price in pakistan
Is it ok to close it so hard?

Too complicated and expensive. Lots of great guns on the market with history for that price.
I think you should understand the product. . Before doing a video.

Solo Benelli.....
This gun is not recoil friendly at all beware.
I have this gun now for 1.5 years, and today it broke for the third time... First it was the ejector, now it is the triggergroupe that falls out during shooting. Never buy this gun!
Clemens Haupt did you put the trigger group back in the right way
Mascarade726 I never took it out 😉
Clemens Haupt the. How did you clean the trigger

The law of the gun Italians do shotguns better than any other
They getting ugly for sure I love my SBE better.
