This is the first of five episodes from a trip with me, Gøran Johannessen, Mathias Bakken and Jonas Bakken.
The fishing took place in Northern part of Norway in a hidden river with a Atlantic salmon or two.
Fishing was very exciting due to the amount of fish takes, however, catching the first salmon of the year ended up not be so easy...

There was a lot of fish last season, they said probably because there wasnt any big fishing trawlers around our waters. Covid didnt really help as season start very late but still was good. My plan was actually to go to Norway this year but with all that pandemic stuff it's not gonna happen anytime soon 😭.
@@tomaszpokrzywa3169 yeah unfortunately traveling still seems to be quite risky. Hopefully things get back to normal next year!

The fish are taking the fly straight on (directly downstream) and it’s difficult to land a fish that takes there. They hook up much better when they take on the swing. And well done for your first fish of the year 👏🏻

I used one single barbless hook for fly fishing and baitcaster fishing size 2/0 and I never lost fish lol
You never lost fish on that hook? That sounds amazing! Maybe I have to change my hooks 😄
Well you havent caught many fish then because ANY salmon angler claiming to never lose a fish is a very dedicated liar or have caught VERY few..

@@Utmarka har hørt d er rått ørretfiske der i øvre! Kan fort bli store endringer for dere hvis trapp i nedre åpnes eller?
@@SalmonfishingNorway Det blir nok en del innskrenkninger regner jeg med, spesielt i elvene. Er nok med dette som alt annet, både positive og negative sider. Jeg får jo laks 50 meter fra huset, er jo ikke feil det heller😁 Synd fisketiden er så kort.

It’s a fast water stop moving the fly all the time n you’ll get more fish 😂🙈
That’s a good point, fishing the fly more like fishing a fishing lure in still water with more stops? In one of the later episodes we managed to increase our catch rate by a lot when we increased the treble size ;)
