This knot is modified from its original method. Traditionally the working end would end up next to the eye of the hook, not on the top of the knot itself. But this variation works just fine as well

I don't care much for slang names for actual rope and webbing configurations. Actually that one pictured is a hitch and not a Knot. The line is hitched around the ring. Please teach correctly it is hard to unteach some people who think they learned something tricky.

no it only looks similar when finished. A noose or hangman's knot is basically the same as a scaffold or barrel knot except with more wraps.
