Just drive the Supra and was very surprised how similar it felt to my B8 S4. Lifting the hood revealed that the engine is sat squarely over the front wheels.
Great video. Despite it being an “unfair comparison”, it’s definitely one enthusiasts consider balancing a car blessed with depreciation and one blessed with modernity and a warranty.
Glad I stumbled across this comparo! Wonderful production values, articulate, and informative. Hope the algorithm finds the audience the channel deserves 🍻
Thanks. It's just a matter of me posting more consistently. I've got a couple little mini features coming up shortly. I'm visiting a shop that specializes in manual swap Ferraris, so that will be pretty fun and interesting!
Happy new year. I agree with your assessment and will add your about "pushes you to explore the limits" is so true about the best sports cars I've ever driven. It's not the spec sheet, damping, shifts or anything in isolation, it's the way it comes together. The top 3 I have even driven are the Evora GT, 997 911 (although I didn't like it outside a mountain road) and the GR86. I've driven and owned performance cars for nearly 25 years. Never driven an Miata yet!!
Love your channel bro. I glad u finally appreciate the supra, i remember when you made a video about the Z and somewhat u said its better because for less money.
What's funny - as you get older - you care less and less about the straight line bs... and more and more about how a car feels in the canyons, at the limits... it just sucks when you get out feeling both exhilarated and physically punished at he same time! Random related thought: What are people going to say about a 20+ year old electric vehicle? will those even be on the road? I see car ownership going away completely for all but the most affluent - that's how the W E F is planning longterm... yet ... nobody is even thinking about that... yet ;-)
Straight line performance will never get old, but even as a kid I always enjoyed the dynamics of a car and driving on track. I'm sure some EVs will make it to 20, but a lot of the current, first gen EVs will be badly obsolete in just 5-10 years. EV tech is changing much more rapidly than ICE, and current charging speed, range etc will make 2022 cars rather undesirable in the near future.
@@revmatchtv I hope so - I sort of envision being able to physically remove a battery pack in < 5 minutes, and then replacing it. That or the fast charging tech.... aside from that - cannot wait for a 2-door coupe - something shaped like a traditional sports car from the EV world to arrive
lol.. Look at the sheer size of that bonnet on the supra... Holy cow... Generally. I think cars have been figured out by the early 90s... Upgraded suspension/brakes and the best tires you can put on the vehicle are enough to be MORE than fast enough for the street. Especially if you uprate the motor for 20-30% more power than stock 90s provided... I'd rather spend my money on good tires than get a modern car that being hugely expensive for what you get...
The car is not hugely expensive in North America. In fact, it's more than competitive. If you want to get more power, there's nothing else that gives you better bang for your buck, and the aftermarket is very robust. Most people buy these cars to mod. Do you need to go faster? Absolutley not, but people buy these cars for that very reason.
Wait, Toyota tuned OUT the right-foot steering from new supras? I rented a '21 and I liked its power-oversteer. It was minimal, nothing dangerous unless you're TRYING to spin out. I'm shopping for a '23 for the better steering feedback, so that's really disappointing to hear the '23 has less oversteer. I don't want to give that up.
They've dialed it back mostly through electronics. The car will snap oversteer with the nannies off if you're not careful because of the 97" wheelbase. If you're ok driving with stability off, the car has PLENTY of oversteer.
Grreat video! I picked up my 2004 996 Turbo with 26k miles. Im at 31k miles now. The Gt640 package on my car is amazing!

Give me the Supra all day! That B58 is 🔥
The early ones are tunable!

The ND2 Miata is a fantastic car. You should definitely drive one
Damm - I missed the Video when it was new. Cool Comparison!
This was a really interesting comparison- and those backroads are beautiful! Supra might be quicker, but I'd pick 911 all day 😉
How tall are you???how is the interior ?
Love your channel bro. I glad u finally appreciate the supra, i remember when you made a video about the Z and somewhat u said its better because for less money.
Thanks. At $40K the Z is great. At $50K the Supra is much better

@@07wrxtr1 The next gen Cayman/Boxster will be full EV.
The pedals are hinged from the top.
Happy almost new 2023!! Hope it’s a better year then not. 🤓 the BToyotaMW is nice and fresh, 911 is iconic and different.
Love the 911 for it’s rawness and feel.

Japan and Germany, together again
Porsche all day every day. No contest.
Can't go wrong if you don't mind the maintenance. My Cayman S was a very expensive car to run.
Porsche make really great cars but supra wins if lb/lb
