This is a video I made for The Cutting Room Floor that showcases every region of the V.Smile BIOS animation.
V.Smile (c) 2004 VTech
Emulator: MAME 0.221
Please read the not-so-FAQ in the channel description.
So, recently, this video has had a surge of popularity, and every day I'm getting one or two comments here.
Where are y'all coming from?
Just a buncha guys who own a vsmile and/or clicked on one video with vsmile in the title.
Y'know, there's a separate one for the U.K.
i just turned 19 and am feeling incredibly nostalgic and a lil sad
I don’t have v smile
bro its us, the goblins remembering this at 3am
I’ve gotta be honest, for being whar was basically a cheap children’s console it actually had some amazing sound quality
Who you callin cheap? This console is apart of my childhood, didn't ya know?
Excuse me while I attempt to run sonic on this

I remember when I had one of these.
I was very little at the time.
Same man
Leapster Gang here.
Same!!
Still got it and the lovely little thing works

Sometimes it chooses not to
Same
I actually had one of those. They're really rare in Puerto Rico. I had a prototype when I was a child in Puerto Rico of a game.
Woah...
Boricua gang!! Hahaha I had one of these when I was little, although I live in the us, it was super fun to play on!
@@Sterophonick I did. It happen a long time ago since my mom used to work in V TECH studios.
@@MarioMiibo You wouldn't happen to still have it, would you!? Would LOVE to have this dumped!!
@@MarioMiibo I'm on Discord and Twitter. If you still have it, *please* contact me there!!

this graphic was never meant to be in such high quality
Holy shit, i remember having a pink one of these that was like a DS kinda. I just got all the memories from my childhood unlocked.
I really wish now i didn't give it away
0:55 In the German version, V.Pal doesn't giggle, instead he shouts "Hey!"
HEY! V-smile, Micheal here...
More important why was there 2 of them?
He mixed them up!
Also V.Pal has an adult male voice.
@@commanderjames5564 0:31 is supposed to be France, but the uploader accidentally put the wrong label.
The first intro had enough cartoon noises to make 12 episodes of Looney tunes. also I would like to point out that this would not compete with the sixth generation of consoles it was released for. It's more comparable to a 4th generation console.
lmao yeah it's more or less comparable to the Super Nintendo. But it is superior in terms of things like ROM space and CPU speed.
Every contury: (cute laugh)
Germany: HEY!
surprised nobody commented on the german one contrasting so much
Huh. I remembered the Italian start up on my V Smile as a kid. Even though I’m born and raised in UK.
That's because it was also used in the UK as well as Italy
I had the UK version.
😭 my younger brother had one of these and we used to play it all the time like there was no tomorrow
I miss those days
UK/US/France/etc: [child laugh]
Germany: *_"HEY"_*
i just was sent into a whole new realm of nostalgia holy crap
0:55 HEY
Holy crap, I remember playing this in my sister's room on her Disney Princess TV.
0:32 Did you mean France?
DAMMIT
He putted a not in the description
0:55 "HEY!"
The voice reminds me of Sonic the Hedgehog for some reason.
had one of these when i was younger. from what i remember was, it was very buggy when it came to controller inputs, sometimes the game would hardlock or sometimes it would load random sprites from the cart ROM (yes, these systems used carts). if you were lucky, unused sprites (for some reason on the dora cart had a low battery icon for some reason, even tho this console didn't have any way to check the battery level on the controllers) would be randomly called from the ROM during a crash.
The console also had a battery compartment and that low battery sprite was used when powered from batteries.
I think we got rid of ours which makes me sad. I even had the drawing game with the special drawing controller for it, and the portable one.
That drawing game seemed to have a special mode meant just for the portable one where you could play it with the D-Pad on that.
For being a very little kids thing, the portable one actually felt really good if I recall right.
I would like to point out that tcrf says that the V-Smile was released on August 4th, and I was born on that date.
Funnily enough, I've never heard of this until now, I only had the Leapster L-MAX, Leap Pad, and the MobiGo.
Perhaps that handheld was the MobiGo?
@@Sterophonick YES! That's it! Thank you!
@brolookatyou it was
Just unlocked a deep recessed memory
Man the nostalgia!!! I had one when I was a kid! Had a bunch of games on this system!!
The first "Germany" one is actually France
Nostalgia hit harder then my dads belt
I miss the days playing this console. I'd get one for my future children
We actually had the voice from Italy, but still had the English logo.
0:48 My Childhood
I had this growing up. I loved it
US: V smile is a kids game
Germany:V SMILE IS A MANS GAME
0:32 is supposed to say french according to the desc
Oops.
Also, I'm very sorry that this thing flopped. I mean, it was a baby's first console, what the hell did you expect. What, you wanted to give a 3 year old a console and just go: you figure it out yourself. Oh no, anyone who had parents, they got this. And this thing, was where a console and education got put together.
WHAT THE ACTUAL SHIT IVE HAD AN ITALIAN VSMILE MY WHOLE LIFE AND I DIDNT KNOW??
AHHAHSHSVSH
My god this brings back memories

I had a V.Smile and a V.Smile Pocket as a little kid! They’re both still in my house in a box underneath the TV, but I wonder if they can still work when they are given new batteries. Also, Is there a current working emulator for the V.Smile, as well as ROMs?
In only the Chinese version, after the usual animation V.Pal will say "斗智神童", which roughly translates to "Smart Kids", while the text displays above his head.
I still have mine it has the us/uk startup and I think it still work! I wanna play with it again for nostalgia(I have 3 disc.)
My very first video game console.
I remember the Italian one despite being from the Uk
The Italian startup is actually the British/England dub of it Mr Alexander, but good metaphor.

Because it’s the Chinese version.
the german one is good
Man, I rember I played with one of those when I was a child. For a time I though it was all a dream or mixed thoughs the Leapfrog sistem (The didn't have those in México) But this vídeo bring me old and good memories.
Exist emulator for Android ???
I don't know about you but I think v.smile will look good on android or pc if there was an emulator, but what nostalgia
There is no working V.Smile emulator for Android.
@@Sterophonick that means that there is no emulator for android, good but if you have a v.smile and a grabber you can record the v.smile screen. but what about the pc emulator, well I think there if you can play it through the mame emulator and also v.smile was a 16 bit console or what do I know
@@AullidodelamuerteZ I don't have a V.Smile, though I have a few US region cartridges lying around waiting to be sent off for dumping. I am using an emulator here, yes. MAME. It emulates the system well on the PC, except for when the controller decides to stop working completely. In fact, a couple of weeks ago, Wall-E and many other games are now playable, before now they wouldn't accept any input.
@@Sterophonick I have a v.smile but what I want with the bios from mexico but I don't have a capture tool also when i tried a mickey mause game or the magic adventure of mickey the net the power of the console was the same as a super Nintendo or a mega drive, but in 2010 Good that nobody takes the trouble to create their own emulator of v.smile, for pc or android, and one thing the games of v.smile are in .bin format
@@AullidodelamuerteZ Fun fact: the V.Smile is more powerful than both the Genesis and SNES
I some how own the Italy version but I’m in the uk
They're the same thing except the Italian version doesn't have text underneath vsmile
*I probs had the UK/US one but I don’t know.*
*Germany sounds like they forced a child to stand there and to do whatever that was*
*China stop copying the US/UK*
*Italy you I don’t know*
*Mexico JUST NO.*
*Spain, I have no idea but it’s perfect.*
The Italian version has no slogan
0:27 斗智神童
Yo, I just hit the translate button on your comment, and it translated to “the witty prodigy”.
from a cars toon mater tall tales
The final is Chile
._. Ummm. I’m from the uk and I got the Italian one?????? Also I’m currently on a never ending loop of this intro Halp pls
If it never ends, then your system is not reading cartridges correctly.
Yeah. If the startup screen is in a loop, then there’s 2 reasons why that is.
1. The game cartridge you inserted is foreign or dead.
2. You don’t have the cartridge inserted. (I wish there was a message telling the user to insert the cartridge to play but that never happened).
When it’s in a loop, the vtech startup sound is silent but the V-smile startup sound is the same. This will never end until you power off the console or unplug it (which I would never recommend).
@brolookatyou I was talking about the vtech V.smile that came out in 2004. Not the V.smile motion.
The german one just stands out like the chinese version
I had the french version, i live nowhere near france.
It exist !
Nah man increíble me dio un putazo fe recuerdos
I see that the version I had is from Italy
The Dutch version is the same as the US version
