Hello Doug i hope youre well , at 13:40 i heard someone say "at least its got fuel going in the right end" , which end did you end up feeding the fuel in through to get it running ?, at the start you mentioned the left side was fuel feed in and right side was fuel out so i wasnt sure if you ended up switching them over to get it running, cheers in advance mate 👍
Great video! I just bought a 2002 zx1200R that I am attempting to install into a kart, so this is right up my alley. May I ask what air intake bracket and filter is that? Thanks
Hi There! How did you manage to make it idle? And whats with the speedometer moving along with the rev counter? (Im struggling with those same issues) thank you!
The speedometer was reading due to clutch drag turning the output shaft. Once the engine has warmed up, the idle speed should fall to the correct level. If not check for air leaks, disconnected vacuum pipes or sticking butterflies. Also possible to manually adjust the idle speed at the throttle bodies using the adjuster. Another possibility is the TPS needs recalibrating.
@@DougsShed you're the greatest! Thank a lot for taking your time. In my case its not an air leak, and tps are within correct volts. It doesnt want to idle and to keep it running you have to hold above 2k rpm. Its drving us crazy
Only other things I can think of are dirty injectors, fouled spark plus or old/contaminated fuel. I have known people to accidentally put in diesel by mistake!
Your engine sounds really good. I too have a ZX12R 2002. I'm currently trying to restore it. It has not ran and almost 10 years. Your video gives me Faith to continue my bike restoration
BigBlack 420i This engine sat under a tarpaulin in a portable tent type garage for 10 years. I did have the throttle bodies and electronics indoors out of the worst of our climate.
Just got a 2002 zx12r not running for 15 years , in process of restoring it like dam the bike actually scared everyone like that back then I see it’s a few that got the bikes that have been sitting for a decade or more

Hi, just had to check, yes the fuel goes into the right hand end of the fuel rail and returns from the left hand end.
@DougsShed thanks mate , I swapped it round to check and it fired straight up , my motor is going in a quad bike soon
@@nathanburton2002 Well done!
