Great cover & great tone. Im currently working on figuring out Murdered Echoes of the Mind.
Which is one of the "best" tracks of Scott. But due to the heavy distortion on the guitars its hard to make all parts out perfeclty clear. Keep it up brother !

Quick tip: many of the Xasthur songs are not in perfect pitch (A ≠ 440Hz). They are detuned (or uptuned) by some 50-80 cents. Most frequently used tunings are Standard, half step and whole step down. Hope this helps.

@@kotekutalia Well thanks brother. I feel like songs that are a bit off in tuning is the artist basically trolling his audience lol. Just like Panteras Strength Beyond Strength. Its also not perfectly in tune.
I mostly save & edit songs I transcribed by ear in Guitar Pro. Since its easily accessable to other people.
Since most unfortunately are too lazy to train their ear properly & soley rely on tabs.
I mostly do Buckethead songs as tabs. Since he is the equivalent of the 21th beethoven.
I also stopped doing tabs for a long time since I once had roughly around 50 tabs finished within a short period of time but didnt upload them & unfortunately my computer died on me & the data could not be restored. It may seem as a tragedy. But really its not too bad since my ears improved nevertheless.
Just a shame that I could not share it with the fellow music community.
Someday Im looking forward to study audio engineering & mixing. And producing bands & what not.
As Im still somewhat of a youngin, hopefully the excessive hard work will someday pay off & I can harvest the fruits of my labor. Im not very fond of utilizing the term "better". But I gotta say that Xasthur is probably one of the darkest & purest music projects in human history.
Also sorry for this gay little rant about my insignificant life lol. But I just felt the urge to feel superior by talking about how awesome my life is lololol... Cheers mate !

@@creamygoodness3828 I don't think detuning is a sort of practical joke. It adds more dissonance to songs compared to everyday pop music. If you were to exclusively listen Xasthur you might have not even noticed it.
I have heard such story of computer hard drive failure from other musician as well. I recommend backing your work on Google Drive or DropBox etc. or share to ultimate-guitar.com just like me.
Good luck on your musical journey!

I have just never produced any! Main thing to note is that the opening chord is Ebm and you take your finger off the Gb on the 2nd string to get an open B. Start with that and the rest is not too difficult to figure out. I think on the record he's downtuned by like a halfstep, so if you want to play along you might need to do that as well. (Or play along to this, which is in standard tuning).

Superb. If there's one name to call the tone it's "Eerie". Icy smooth high-frequency Reverb overtones fill the clean sound so it feels like there's a certain atmosphere as the background. Scott achieved similar effect using heavily distorted, fuzzy and unfiltered guitars (i.e. if you play his songs with too pristine distorted presets it wont sound as full).
He's still (over)using open string in the newer Xasthur - acoustic project. I too use the "semitone-interval" trick when tabbing (at this moment A Curse for the Lifeless). Using it with unique arpeggios is the trademark of Xasthur.

Figuring out how open strings were being used to get the semitone intervals was a real lightbulb moment - it's quite counter-intuitive, but that's the unique disharmonic Xasthur sound! Means a lot to hear this from you - I've been enjoying your renditions...
