Thank you so much for this. I am playing this over and over as I prepare to sing it at the end of my mother's memorial service this Saturday. She flew away a little before 8:00 in the morning on July 30, 2020. Because of COVID, we chose not to hold in-person services then. Now I have to keep practicing it until I can get through it without the emotion overwhelming me. Thank you for the immense joy and laughter. Thank you and bless you!!!!
You do realise American bluegrass has its roots in the appalachian mountain region where Ulster people settled in the mid 1800s? They brought their music with them and it was integrated into American life? Oh and greetings from Ulster. 🙂
Just a truly wonderful music video. Thank you so much for sharing this. I can close my old eyes and smile and see my loved ones who are gone and think back to the good times we had together and how blessed for those. Someday Ill FLY AWAY................................................................
Got acquainted with this song in Panama on military deployment. Bob Quinn and John Mitchell sang it one evening in the barracks. It's been my gospel favorite ever since.
Each and every one of you are wonderful. An online friend of mine from where she once lived in Foley Alabama sang karaoke to this and she has since flown away and I hope she has heard you all sing this because she also would have love it as much as I have.
I get goosebumps listening to this song. When I was a little kid attending my neighborhood Free Will Baptist church, this song was their favorite song to sing and I didn't quite understand it at the time. But now that my grandparents and my parents and most of my uncles and aunts have passed away, I finally understand why they loved this song so much.
Music City Roots oh my all of the singers and musical instruments just beautiful oh wow this is great I just love it .Thanks for sharing God bless you all abundantly.
Oh, those beautiful voices and wonderful guitar solos! those banjo and ArcTop! Why is country music so positive? Hello Nashville!! With love from Russia! I'll fly away....to Nashville!
Evening, I just found this band and was instantly hooked. I am a Blue Grass Gospel music lover. Nothing makes me happier than listening to to some good gospel pickin and singin. I was all about finding out more about this band until Mr. Man inserted a Trump slur. Gospel Music should have no sides other than Jesus Christ, Lord and God. You have a great talent as a band and wish you the best but, regrettably, your one individual spoiled the bunch with me.
patricia S: Maybe justice is being served. That's if we are to believe tRumpf actually has the virus. It need to be verified by an independent source - Dr Fauci would do nicely.
This song takes me back to a Sunday afternoon when I listened to this song on a portable radio while driving a Farmall Model B tractor from Grandview to Irving Texas, a distance of about 30 miles.
@@rueridge7597 It was a Sunday in the late 1950s. Traffic not a problem. I kept near the side of the road. The distance was about 30 miles, not 60. Freeways hadn't been built. Drove 5 miles from the farm to Hwy 67 then to Venus, then south on farm roads to Irving.
🗣JESUS IS COMING SOON!!! JESUS says keep Sabbath holy! POPE says keep Sunday holy! “The Bible says remember that thou keep the Sabbath day. The Catholic Church says, 'NO!'. By my divine power, I abolish the Sabbath day and command you to keep holy the first day of the week. And, lo, the entire civilized world bows down in reverent obedience to the command of the holy Catholic Church." Father Enright, American Sentinal, June 1893. The WORD teaches 7th day is holy! The WORLD teaches 1st day is holy! 🤔WHO DO YOU OBEY⁉️
Artists: Jim Lauderdale Liz Longley Sierra Hull Maureen Murphy T Bone Burnett Gillian Welch David Rawlings Gillian Welch and David Rawlings made their first "Music City Roots" appearance in the show's seven-year history. It was worth the wait. That night, the Americana duo, as well as acclaimed producer T Bone Burnett, were presented with Berklee College of Music's American Master Awards. These awards are given to artists and industry leaders who have made a positive impact on the lives of young musicians. The audience, which included dozens of Berklee students (who are visiting Nashville to learn about career opportunities in Music City), sang along, then rose to their feet for one more standing ovation.
@@greyborzoi ‘this dude’ is the great T-Bone Burnett and one of the most influential sound producers of the last thirty-years-or-something. He has always been strong in his political statements, and he speaks from his heart, with great intelligence.
In these trying times of a worldwide pandemic, this song makes me happy. That David Rawlings is one heckuva guitar picker and Gillian is a fine singer. The entire band is fantastic. And that Trump verse; I love it. Who says country and western music is always conservative. Not on your life!! Way to go, guys. You lift up my spirits after spending a couple of hours undergoing BCG treatment for bladder cancer!!
The "Trump verse" ruined the song, Totally inappropriate to put polical commentary into such a beautiful Christian Hymn as this one. Regardless of one's politics, he was a total jerk to do that.
C’mon guys. They are all just brilliant.especially the lady in the long dress: ). The trump thing was a little joke. It’s a lovely spiritual piece. Greetings from Dublin, Ireland
That’s TBone Burnett with dark sunglasses on (to the back right) with the political comments. Saw him play with Bob Dylan at the ‘Rolling Thunder Revue in Fort Collins, CO 1976. It’s on UA-cam. He also promoted and played in the Alison Krause and Robert Plant tour 7 years ago.
His credentials mean nothing here. This is a joyful Gospel song. He is being rude, crude, inconsiderate, divisive and he is way out of line. Better he go back to licking Dylan's butt. That's more his style.
Heard music like this every Sunday around my grandmother's and from neighbors of hers. It isn't heard much anymore & still love it! No freaking call for the political crap!!
It's almost like they would be pissed if Christ were to actually criticize poverty or oppression or anything. They'd probably burn their New Testaments, if they bothered to read the Sermon on the Mount.
This tune reminds me of my dear mate in Christ and senior charge nurse at the Mosisset Psych. Hospital, NSW, who departed in 2010, another victim of Ca., RIP, Ken Payne, see you some day on the other shore. [8.7.17]
Some of you may remember Ann Landers? She had a saying she used quite a bit over the years. "There is NO EXCUSE for bad manners." People would do well to remember this, using good manners at all times will serve you well in life.
Well. If that ain’t the cutest way of saying when you was born. If that was what you meant. Hate to tell you this but I saw the light of day 26 years before you. Well,I gotta tell you this also I’ve got a daughter just 9 years younger than your good self .
I'm not a religious man, but i love the music it talks to my heart thanks from Alberta Canada
I hope that someone sings this Song at my funeral. Best Gospel ever.

Great fusion between gospel music 🎶
And bluegrass I can play all day ,thankyou
First time I heard this song I was 5 years old. It was in the Pentecostal Church Mom and I went to in Marion,Ohio back in1957.
Wow, an All-Star band. Thanks
Gillian W's voice, it takes you back a century or more. She conjures a bygone era or American music Dave R too 🎶
Dave Rawlings's guitar solo at the end is excellent. Controlled chaos, from a true master of the instrument.
Thank you; I wondered who that was. He has a beautiful voice, too. Everyone on the stage contributes in their own way.
Canção maravilhosa. Sou fã desse programa. Que bom que existe o UA-cam!

Classic song and beautiful collaboration on vocals but why let an inappropriate reference to politics ruin it?????
This. These people can’t help themselves though.
Music is a great format for making light of dangerous demagogues that endanger everything decent people hold dear.
