I think they also messed up Ryuji(Duke) in a similar way where he was supposed to be more of a foil to Yugi in the manga, a version of him that only plays games he has an advantage in. It was a much stronger story when they kept in the part of it being a battle for the puzzle with the issues between his father and Yugi's grandpa.

The most wild thing to me about the anime adaptation is that we never actually see Yugi complete the Millennium Puzzle. We're told about it, and if you want to be generous it does happen in The Movie, but we never see the moment that basically kicks off the entire journey. The first chapter is glossed over so hard that 4Kids actually fixed the plot hole about Ushio just disappearing. I'd absolutely love to see a complete adaption of Yugioh someday, my fingers will always be crossed.
Oh, right. Kaiba and Yugi are classmates. I keep forgetting that the guy who created a private space elevator and private space station in the shape of his own company's logo, as well as freaking portable VR technology that directly interfaces with the user's brain in the year 1997 IS JUST A FREAKING HIGH SCHOOL KID!
Something the anime also hurts is the progression of technology in the DM world. The fact that the shadow game Yugi forced Kaiba into being what eventually lead to the creation of duel discs is such a great idea. This doesn’t even get into what they did to Duke who went from a really good one off antagonist who allowed Yugi, not the Pharoh, to show just how competent he had become.
I would personally disagree about Joey being characterized accurate in the anime. In the anime, they play Joey as a lucky goof; not the former delinquent trying to be better. In the manga you still see these delinquent behavior still in him like how in confrontation with bandit Keith, Keith tries to swing at Joey only for Joey to put him in his place but take the high ground(the anime just let Joey get beat up); there also the marik duel where a few of his attacks are just to hurt Marik like he would with his fist. But overall this is an amazing video showing how much the original series matter that sadly too many people act like yugioh 0 is this edgy section of the story that can be skipped.
i agree they made him too much like a weak clown, best example being when Kaiba kicked his ass in duelist kingdom while in the manga he just chalkenged him to duel while Joey was about to beat HIM up
I mean, for that matter, the memory arc also doesn’t make sense with out pre Duelist Kingdom material. The shadow RPG isn’t the first time Bakura pulled this. It was a throwback to last arc before Duelist Kingdom.
Really good analysis. I used to love the DM anime but after reading the manga and seeing how much it better it handles character writing, I didn't feel as strongly about it.
My reason for preferring the manga, at least in regards to Kaiba is much more basic: It makes the rivalry feel complete. One problem I have with many anime rival characters is that their reason for having conflict with the protagonist, at some point just starts feeling petty. With the addition of their first Shadow Game duel, it makea Kaiba's motivation for going after Yugi feel more warranted cause in addition to defeatung him, he Penalty Gamed him putting him in a graveyard hallucination.
Randomly picked up the Yu-Gi-Oh! Manga at a library sometime before 2015, _and by golly_ if it wasn't one of the most *interesting things* I'd ever read. I was forced to skip around a bit but even with that, I got how dark the story was, and was able to follow most of the plot threads. It was extremely enjoyable, despite not being what I was used to, it was just so intriguing, tense, and such a fun read. Eventually I stopped reading Duelist because of the large gap in volumes, until I noticed the library after we moved a few times, had _much more options here._ Been thinking about it every now and then. Got a chance to read _Yu-Gi-Oh! R_ which was also excellent, I recommend as well if you can find copies or look up a scan. Have a handful of other things I'd like to finish or start reading, and it'd be excellent if I could get more Sailor Moon volumes one day. Pokémon Adventures will be something I continue, and finish in the far future. My problem with that is time, and how unsure I am, I want to continue past the first few series/games.
This is why Yu-Gi-Oh! should have a Remake yet that will never happen because 1) With Takahashi dead,Konami has total control of what to do and not to do with the franchise. Any Yu-Gi-Oh!,having good story or not,its just a 20 minutes commercial per week. Its only reason to exist is to show a new card. 2) Duel Monsters wasn't the main game until chapter 60. Yes,we have the duels with Kaiba but that's the thing, there were just three duels prior chapter 60. Two of them being Yugi vs Kaiba and one being Sugoroku vs Kaiba. The main target of Yu-Gi-Oh! wouldn't watch the Remake if the main game,Duel Monsters,is just feature three times. Hell, this is something that was already a thing in Toei's anime as they changed some of the Villains of the Week with Thugs sent by Kaiba and the game used the majority of the time that change happened was Duel Monsters. A 1:1 remake would mean that these thugs would be once again Villains of the Week. They can't also go out and change all games for Duel Monsters as the Title of the Series is literally King of Games and all games when started by Yami Yugi, were rigged from the start to have Yami Yugi as the winner. That would eliminate the tension factor when Yami Yugi was dueling another person.
Not quite. The card game is owned by Konami but Shueisha still owns the manga. Without them green lighting the show's remake, nothing can happen even if Takahashi was alive.
the major problem is that sadly Yugioh just isn't seen as its own story like it originally was, it's only seen as a vehicle for promoting the card game, which sucks a lot because the manga legit had a great story
Indeed, i love the Yugioh anime but after watching season 0 and reading the manga many years late i can't help but feel robbed, the first arcs are some of the best and not only show why Bakura is a threat they also justify Kaiba's behaviour later on
I understand why the Gallop series forgone the previous arcs. The Toei series didn't come out long before it at the time, so they decided to pull a FMAB where they start the series from the ground running, because they already figured that fans already watched the previous series. That's why the major plot beats from the manga happen in flashbacks--because they already happened. To be fair, they aren't wrong. That's how it would've been for Japanese fans at that time. This is made more complicated when 4Kids adapted the series for western audiences, dumbing everything down and never adapting that arc. The whole Duelist Kingdom arc feels wonky and oddly paced without that previous context. When I got back into Yugioh as a teenager, I was super confused after watching the first episode, wondering why the characters are so close and why Kaiba was so gongho about getting a trading card. After reading the first part of the manga, the story made a lot more sense. Western fans need that context from the manga, but would've never gotten it thanks to that decision and it being picked up by 4Kids. (Let's face it. There's no way in hell they would've ever adapted something like Death T.) Personally, I think the Gallop series should've at least adapted the first chapter, the museum arc, the condensed version of Death T (because that arc was rather goofy looking back at it as an adult) and the Bakura stuff BEFORE Duelist Kingdom. That way we get to know the characters better and get to the point fast. That's how I would do it in a reboot series, anyhow. At least that way you get the bigger highlights of that arc, erasing big plot holes like the one you mentioned in this video, while getting to the point much faster. (To be honest, one of my biggest complaints with the manga is that the first part of the manga goes on for FAR too long and is extremely repetitive, wearing out its welcome.)
@@sorcerersapprentice You make a REALLY great point about how 4kids Yugioh watchers were missing context shown from the first adaptation. I never would have thought to look at it like that. This was genuinely insightful, thank you for sharing.
This was a totally solid video for a such a small channel. Great stuff, hard agree with your opinions and enjoy your editing and script writing style ( assuming you scripted this) Youve earned a new sub!
i personally consider the toei series to be semi-canon to the gallop series because... 1.) if i remember correctly the showrunners somewhat intended that considering that the gallop series started not too long after the toei series ended. 2.) flashbacks in gallop series clearly implied that versions of those events STILL happened. 3.) it adds that missing context regardless.
you guys are either taking what i said too literal or missing the point. i'm not saying that they happened the exact same way, i'm saying that diffirerent VERSIONS of those events happened. for example the bank robber yugi lights on fire to save tea becomes an attempted rapist/mugger that yugi mind crushes to save tea. they both get the point of tea crushing on the pharaoh and realizing that something has been up wirh yugi since he solved the puzzle but are completely diffirerent scenes.
@@SakuraAvalonYou can just watch Duel Monsters with Episode 2 and skip episode 1 as it was only an "abridged" recap of the Death T arc, Miho was a character who only showed up in one chapter of the manga so she's basically a filler character for the most part that can be ignored.
Jonuchi also was bullying Yugi for not manning up in the manga. He kind of meant well in his bullying just not the outlet. Yugi standing up for him despite him being a social recluse game nerd, made Jonuchi eat cow(proven wrong in his perspective).
Thank you for this video! It was a great watch and it makes me very happy that you see how important Death T and all of "season 0" is to the character's development. In Duel Monsters, we start at when the characters have gone through so many changes already that their motivations and actions in Duelist Kingdom don't sense if you've only seen the anime. Without the first arc, Duelist Kingdom feels empty and less impactful. Thank you for opening the eyes to others how important the first arc is. Best of luck in your future videos! 😊
That’s why I think the Yugioh anime deserves a remake, because I tried to watch it after I reached duelist kingdom in the manga and I couldn’t continue past ep3 due to the anime discrediting death T impact on the characters!!
Honestly with the radio silence there's been for new Yugioh spin-offs, it might just be the right time for a more faithful adaptation of the manga, unless they've been working on another spin-off since their last one.
i'm sure i'm in the minority but i wouldn't want a straight 1:1 of original as i felt toei & gallop did do some things better in their adaptations + i don't think i could sit through the glorifide pokemon battles that are the pre-battle city version of the duel monsters card game. broad strokes, i want a reboot not a yugioh: kai or a yugioh: brotherhood.
@@xsoultillerx I'd like to see the chapters season 0 skipped, and a proper adaption of the Dungeon Dice Monsters arc, but everything the anime adapted properly was done better than the manga. I don't want Honda's cousin in animated form.
@@genyakozlov1316 The best solution to this is remaking both Toei and Gallop into one series 1:1 with three small changes, deleting Mio as she was just an extra in the manga, making the Yugi vs Kaiba Duel more closer to the one seen in DM and adding the Pegasus's scene of the end of episode 1 of DM as the last scene of the Yugi vs Kaiba Duel on Death T.
I feel like konami/gallop tried to erase the manga from history when they're so hard to find and barely acknowledged, but then duel links has a random manga panel when you win obelisk from ishizu
The old Yugioh anime could easily be remade with the original manga material before the card game took over. It wouldn't be that hard to implement the card game earlier. Not that they have to be playing Duel Monsters to defeat Ushio, but it's something they could be talking about and trying out. Then Yami Yugi shows up and starts stabbing people and lighting them on fire.
18:14 -I feel Shadi will be difficult since you mention the dark side of dimentions stuff..that was supposed to be a direct sequal to the manga but if you read the manga you know this makes NO sense. They reveal in DSoD that he was a ghost the entire series. This is due to Baki boy killing him in Egypt after getitng the puzzle and leaving his Plana kid cult masterclass. In the manga there is no Plana cult, bakura never went to Egypt and the spirit had no control over him liek this so early. His dad got the item and gave it to him. The spirit at this time could not posses him. He had the power to make things happen from within the ring but Bakura was unaware. Basically he trapped the souls of Bakis friends in RPG game pieces after they lost to him as a penalty game. This woudl put his friends into an inexplicable coma and is why Bakura comes to their school in the first. Depsite not being probably at fault, people do talk and blame him after several kids go comatose playing games with him. He moves to Domino into an apartment on his own and starts at Domino high to get a fresh beginning. It's only when he does this and the two items come into closer proximity that the spirit of the ring regains more of his power and self awareness. This is later revealed to be because the fraction of zorc soul combined with Thief King Bakuras that was implanted in the ring to become the spirit was resonating with the more full part of Zorc still trapped in the puzzle. This is also presumed why Yami lost his memories and was a dark sadistic psycho at first. His soul in such close proximity to the demons trapped together for thousands of years caused it to be influenced and the time together with yugi/friends is what was cleaning the corruption. Shadi has his first interaction with the friends much earlier on in the manga and outs them through a terrifying trial to determine Yugi as being a threat or positive. He is first shown crying beside a mummy (who I feel is actually the earliest showing of tragic priest Seto, but that's a discussion for another time), telling yugi the soul of thsi Pharoah (established already to be from a kingdom soon after that of the pharaoh whos the tomb the puzzle came from but not the same one) is bound to the earth, unable to pass ok and the tears shadi cries is his since he physical can't anymore. In the millenium world arc we get some better understanding around this. It's hinted at/revealed that Shadi is actually a spirit or angel. Atem's father made a pact with him to protect his son before sacrificing his own life to the spirit. Shadi fucked up and Atem had to sacrifice hismelf to prevent Zorcs evil. His soul was imprisoned in the pendent with Zorc's so shadi failed. He was bound to earth as a result until he could get the spirit of Atem safely to the pharonic afterlife. And make good on his deal. This is why he protected the other millenium items and would help guide yugi/friends once he learned the Pharoah soul was finally freed again. He was not creating some alternate dimention minors club or even alive to be killed by a version of Bakura that had not gained that power yet. He was an earthbound guardian angel who was trying to earn back his wings after messing up so he could go home. This is also why he takes multiple disguised forms to help yugi firends and some are more powerful than one would feel. He uses the millenium and at first but we later see he has powers of his own. Not only is Babosa who claims to be an associate of shadi actually the same man in an alternate form but transforms into Mudora, his hinted truest form who in the card game is an earth fairy (angel) type monster with ATK gain for fairy cards in the graveyard. Very fitting since Shadi/babosa/Mudora was an angel servent of the Pharoah who's job was to guide them to the afterlife but got stuck on earth. He finally succeeded in his part after the fjanl defeat of Yami Bakura and as a semi transparent spirit, silently appears in Yugis view to bid him Adu before getitng to go home after thousands of year. At that point, the threat of the items Atems father made him promise to help Atem with had passed so it was up yo Atem and yugi themsleves to get Atem "home" as well. The DSoD movie really fucks with this continuity for new sci-fi BS. It's not surprising as this is not the first time..the anime introduced the concept of the Duel monsters dimention for filler that was ultimatly adapted into continuity for every series after in the universe. This contradicts the orugional manga as it si the manifestations of human souls through alchemic magic that the monsters are and only the godly, angelic and demonic spirits exist beyond those. They do exist on planes beyond ours at times but these are more specifically the heavenly afterlife and hell or specific versions of them it is infered heavily there are multiples as the Hell Zorc resides in is a dark void prison (aka the shadow realm) he frees gimslef from through the millenium ritual pact and the version of afterlife the Pharoh goes to is a different one form other beings. A split soul version of all his servents are there including the high priest Seto despite us knowing the main soul of pharonic Seto refused passage and remained eastbound into reincarnation since Kisara would not get to be in the afterlife he'd go to. The way the monster dimention was depicted in the anime however is its own creation that contradicts all of thsi including the identy of characters liek the dark magician/dark Magician girl. GX both in manga and anine kept closer to the original story, filling in soem unfinished plot threads (liek the origional owner of the ring) and made an attempt at sort of combining these two conectps but it was not fully a possibility. With shadi it is even less easily to link these two conflicts into one coherent explaination and I feel at least with him, the DSoD can't be considered the true continuation of the manga. It not only doesn't make sense but does a great injustice to his established cahracter. He went from being the angel who failed a father's request through sacrifice for his son and tortured spirit seeking redemption to a magic foster dad that got stabbed to death..like..what the fuck!? So much death and lore just removed..
I agree 100%, I always thought so too. The Anime puts 0 mind into how the characters develop and as a result is infinitely weaker than the Manga. And I'm not usually an "adaptation bad" kind of person.
I understand where you're coming from, I think you have a valid point. I respectfully disagree with you. But I think we can both agree we need an anime remake of the original manga with the original "season 0", Duelist, R, Millennium World. Full Metal Alchemist BrotherHood style.
a lot of the early episodes make pretty big changes but will then act like it didn't make those changes. the ghost kaiba duel is a pretty good example of this. throughout the duel, ghost kaiba treats yugi like he personally killed him, and the episode in general acts like yugi and kaiba had some long standing rivalry and hadn't duelled one time for extremely contrived reasons. all these things would make sense in the manga where yugi and kaiba did have the relationship and kaiba was put into a coma directly by yugi, but that never happened in the anime. the anime also treats the audience like it knows stuff that would've only been shown in the manga, like kaiba's backstory, but without that backstory all the "kaiba is a good person deep down" stuff is completely out of nowhere.
I don't watch the anime and only read the manga (and movie). I didn't know the anime cut some parts of the manga, once I said to my friend "It's crazy how Kaiba went from hiring an assassin to murder Yugi's gang to create a machine to go to the afterlife after Yugi", my friend was like "dude are we watching the same series" and we're both confused.
Ironically, despite being so enamored with Kaiba, the Yu-Gi-Oh! anime did him a massive disservice by skipping this arc. And don't even get me started on how regular Yugi and Bakura get shafted all the time. Heck, evil Bakura doesn't fare much better.
It would be kind of cool if the orginal yugioh series got the full metal alchemist brotherhood treatment. Though i don't mind the filler of the orginal anime.
Good to see another fellow who understands why the manga is noteworthy. I wish they'd do the entire original run as anime as a salute to Takahashi, but since the cardgame is what brings in the money that will likely never happen.
Man, I am glad a video like this exists. I think Yugioh manga is great , but I belive alot people don't look past it being a toy commercial with how the DM anime was handled
Ngl, having mainly experienced some of the mabga through watching Season 0 Clips, but growing up with the OG Anime, it is kind of interestingbseeingbhow much was lost when the Duel Monster Anime was basically the main way most of us at least in the US experienced the series. Like some stuff was confusing, sure, but I guess because they still decided to show some of the history (at least with Yugi's Friends) through the flashbacks, I guess I kind of didn't exactky feel like I was lost, rather I kind of was left longing to see those events happen, and then knowing there was an earlier series that focused more on the OG concept of the manga before the shift made me interested in knowing avout what came before, and it is pretty interesting what got changed or left out. In a way, kind of do wish we did get a more faithful adaptation of the OG series, though there is stuff I kind of feel I rather keep from the Duel Monster anime compared to what the manga did - mainly Pegasus's Fate. Other than that, really dug the video.
What sucks is that I was trying to get a team together for a massive yugioh project based on making a sequal that includes all the series up through vrains but i can't get it off the ground.....
That's because the anime and manga are different. And at least in my opinion when I watch the anime of a manga I do want the anime to be a little bit different as long as it's getting the same things across. Same thing goes for book adaptation. If I won 100% recreation I might as well just read the Manga. I don't know I like things that are different between the book and show or whatever as long as the same things and the characters are pretty much doing the same thing.
Since you're showing some colored panels from the manga in english, does that mean the digitally colored version of yugioh is fully available in english now?
Sadly, no. I edited those colored panels to keep the context in. I don't know why VIZ hasn't released the color edition in English, but the reason might be because that edition uses the Pocketbook (Bunkoban) version of Yu☆Gi☆Oh as a base. The Bunkoban release of Yu☆Gi☆Oh is a slightly altered version of the story that also contains art redraws and new pages, all added by Takahashi (I think). For whatever reason, VIZ probably doesn't want to invest time in translating this newer version, I guess...
Why didn't Pegasus make more Blue eyes white Dragons and more importantly, why did he give them to Kaiba and Professor Hawkins but he doesn't actually own any
Because the card is supposed to be rare in the anime and manga. Also, he didn’t give it to them, they would’ve probably pulled it from packs. Kaiba got his 3 from unsavory means straight up getting one guy to commit suicide so he could get one of the cards
I got it from URA, who has been restoring the ost of Toei Yu-Gi-Oh! I've linked their channel in the description of the video, but here's the link again. www.youtube.com/@UraUraUr4
GX sucks just as much ass. It completely shits on every character besides Judai. Manjoume, Sho and Asuka's character arc get finished in a few episodes during Season 4 and Misawa is stuck in this random ass dimension 💀💀 Not to mention how NONE of the villains beside Yubel have any siginificant impact on the story.
But… it literally DOES work… The anime and manga are different continuities at this point especially past DM. Even if they remade DM I highly doubt they’d shove in S0 content because it doesn’t fit the card game narrative without alterations and altering a dead person’s work that drastically would get them a ton of backlash.
There's also the simple fact that the card game is how the series became successful. People forget that the Toei series that covered the first part of the Manga ended up getting cancelled due to not interesting enough people.
@@minicle426 ye. Yugioh pre card game was interesting but the card game is the reason it’s lasted this long. I highly doubt if we stayed purely on the games aspect that Yugioh would be as big as it currently is
I would do terrible things to get a competent rewrite of the manga, tightening up its lore and themes to be more in line with fan expectation (aka card games) and have more realistic/modern-ish decks. And then have it animated.
I wouldn't have minded the old designs. They were more realistic and, in a way, more dynamic. But I get the new ones were likely less of a pest to draw. 😆
Personally, that's exactly why I actually prefer watching the dub of this show rather than the sub. If I'm gonna watch a butchered adaptation of the original manga anyway, might as well go all in and at least be able to have a good laugh at all the dumb changes 4Kids made. The localization of most names also help me dissociate them from their original depiction and development as well. To me anime Jonouchi isn't Jonouchi, he's a lookalike called Joey. Separating them like that helps me a lot with just chilling out any potential outrage and try to have a good time watching. I understand my opinion is extremely controversial, though and I don't expect many people to agree with me. 😂
"Introduction Assassination" is such a good term. I personally thought the same about FMAB, how it changes the order of the manga's introduction and it's not as good imho.
I definitely think they shouldn’t keep it in that Kaiba hires the Chopman. Hiring a Jason Vorhees type on the run from the law for years to get in a weapons battle in an oil filled room, and hoping he’s the only one who gets out of that room, makes Kaiba look way more like an actual villain than a rival/ anti-hero type.
The manga was a bit too edgy and I think Toei's Yu-Gi-Oh did a good job toning it down. Toei Dark Yugi comes of as more noble sort of antihero compared to his manga counterpart, who laughs and makes crazy faces after he punishes his enemies.
Ironically, Kaiba wasn't exactly toned down in the Toei anime. Toei Seto is argubly the most villainous incarnation of the character that ever existed and probably will ever exist.
@@streetgamer3452 no, it's not. Between one that has good pacing, great character arcs and nice art, and one that put a whole filler arc in the middle of another arc, the choice is obvious. My point is, "X is different continuity" doesn't excuse X's bad writing.
Oh I know about the original manga and the original chapters and I hated them none of them are worthy of being main characters in my eyes none of them should have been in the manga at all. And this video only made it even more for me.

Not only that, it inspired Kaiba to create the Solid Vision technology and later improve on it further.

1) With Takahashi dead,Konami has total control of what to do and not to do with the franchise.
There's no way in hell they would've ever adapted something like Death T.)
Personally, I think the Gallop series should've at least adapted the first chapter, the museum arc, the condensed version of Death T (because that arc was rather goofy looking back at it as an adult) and the Bakura stuff BEFORE Duelist Kingdom.
Any character of the week stories really drag on and barely connect to the card game
This was a totally solid video for a such a small channel. Great stuff, hard agree with your opinions and enjoy your editing and script writing style ( assuming you scripted this) Youve earned a new sub!
In the Toei anime known as Season 0
Jounouchi gives Yugi the peice right after the Beat down
i personally consider the toei series to be semi-canon to the gallop series because...
1.) if i remember correctly the showrunners somewhat intended that considering that the gallop series started not too long after the toei series ended.
2.) flashbacks in gallop series clearly implied that versions of those events STILL happened.
3.) it adds that missing context regardless.
Where’s Miho at then? Also how does Kaiba’s Death T work if he first starts harassing them in episode 1?
The flashbacks don't imply 'Season 0' being connected. They're both drawing from the same source material, that is all.
you guys are either taking what i said too literal or missing the point. i'm not saying that they happened the exact same way, i'm saying that diffirerent VERSIONS of those events happened.
for example the bank robber yugi lights on fire to save tea becomes an attempted rapist/mugger that yugi mind crushes to save tea. they both get the point of tea crushing on the pharaoh and realizing that something has been up wirh yugi since he solved the puzzle but are completely diffirerent scenes.
It would be very hard to implement the card game because it changes a lot of the motifs
@@pn2294 Yes it would be very hard for bad writers to do that.
Gallop really dropped the ball with Duelist Kingdom.
I agree 100%, I always thought so too. The Anime puts 0 mind into how the characters develop and as a result is infinitely weaker than the Manga. And I'm not usually an "adaptation bad" kind of person.
I was waiting for a video like this
I understand where you're coming from, I think you have a valid point. I respectfully disagree with you. But I think we can both agree we need an anime remake of the original manga with the original "season 0", Duelist, R, Millennium World. Full Metal Alchemist BrotherHood style.
That's unlikely to ever happen, especially given the direction Konami is going in with the Duel Rush era.
a lot of the early episodes make pretty big changes but will then act like it didn't make those changes.
the ghost kaiba duel is a pretty good example of this. throughout the duel, ghost kaiba treats yugi like he personally killed him, and the episode in general acts like yugi and kaiba had some long standing rivalry and hadn't duelled one time for extremely contrived reasons. all these things would make sense in the manga where yugi and kaiba did have the relationship and kaiba was put into a coma directly by yugi, but that never happened in the anime.
the anime also treats the audience like it knows stuff that would've only been shown in the manga, like kaiba's backstory, but without that backstory all the "kaiba is a good person deep down" stuff is completely out of nowhere.
Though i don't mind the filler of the orginal anime.
i dont mind shadow /purple realm.
not gonna lie i was shocked that it wasnt a concept in the original show
Definitely an enjoyable video
Good to see another fellow who understands why the manga is noteworthy. I wish they'd do the entire original run as anime as a salute to Takahashi, but since the cardgame is what brings in the money that will likely never happen.
Man, I am glad a video like this exists. I think Yugioh manga is great , but I belive alot people don't look past it being a toy commercial with how the DM anime was handled
Thanks for the vid, I watched a lot of it and I’ve heard about some parts of the manga. Good research on the differences 🎉
“It” as in the show! 😅
Great video! 🎉
For whatever reason, VIZ probably doesn't want to invest time in translating this newer version, I guess...
great video!!

I’d like R to be animated
4kids dub
Why didn't Pegasus make more Blue eyes white Dragons and more importantly, why did he give them to Kaiba and Professor Hawkins but he doesn't actually own any
Because the card is supposed to be rare in the anime and manga. Also, he didn’t give it to them, they would’ve probably pulled it from packs. Kaiba got his 3 from unsavory means straight up getting one guy to commit suicide so he could get one of the cards
nah this video is so underrated fr
How did you get a full version of Kaiba's Theme from Yugioh Season 0? It's my favourite but I've never been able to find it!
I got it from URA, who has been restoring the ost of Toei Yu-Gi-Oh!
I've linked their channel in the description of the video, but here's the link again.

Eh, I almost would consider "yugioh DM" as a separate thing then the OG OG yugioh. This seems like a nic-picky video but that's just me...
So what's your suggestion? Do you think that Yugioh should be remade in the form of an OVA that would better adapt the missing Manga chapters?
That's why GX is the superior series (>▽
GX sucks just as much ass. It completely shits on every character besides Judai. Manjoume, Sho and Asuka's character arc get finished in a few episodes during Season 4 and Misawa is stuck in this random ass dimension 💀💀 Not to mention how NONE of the villains beside Yubel have any siginificant impact on the story.
But… it literally DOES work…
The anime and manga are different continuities at this point especially past DM.
I highly doubt if we stayed purely on the games aspect that Yugioh would be as big as it currently is
Well, a lot of people died during Arc-V and it was all handwaved because of the EGAO bullshit
I would do terrible things to get a competent rewrite of the manga, tightening up its lore and themes to be more in line with fan expectation (aka card games) and have more realistic/modern-ish decks. And then have it animated.
Did you skip "season 0"?
Season 0 butchers the manga ngl.
In your Tea vid, could you explain why in the sub version she wears the shirt that says Spirit while in the 4Kids dub she doesn’t wear that shirt
4Kids visual edits
As a mange reader, I can't agree more.
I wouldn't have minded the old designs. They were more realistic and, in a way, more dynamic. But I get the new ones were likely less of a pest to draw. 😆
neat
Well, the one thing the anime did improve, was the tech. The Duel Stadiums and transforming Duel Disc are more appealing.
I humbly disagree, on grounds I disagree and that's it 😊
11:14 it’s still here
Death T is the arc with the annoying talking baby that kept trying to grope Anzu, correct?
Its really weird this video acts like S0 doesn't exist............
We need more videos like tnis talking about tne manga

But I mean he was evil though that’s the point in Death T
Well, he was a villain at first. So in my opinion I though I think they should keep it
