Back to IT basics! troubleshooting and Upgrading laptops are often time consuming and not very economic, but I hope this video will help the guys who need to do it. Regarding the profile backup, mmm I 'm a little suprised because in general when we recreate a profil or a computer, the goal is to start "clean" so only the desktop/favorites/documents/images/music/downloads folders should be copied, the rest is to be managed separately if we really need to reinstall the same apps. I don't really know what can happen if you copy the appdata of a software that is not installed on the new laptop? anyway another interesting video :)

Upgrading laptops/desktops is not generally for enterprise, although in a huge school district where I worked we did it all the time (very limited budgets). There were lots of video files in this profile saved by the application they used and so an effort recover some of those files was the goal. I always save profiles for another reason, if I need to recover Word or Excel macros or special user dictionaries or other application specific files, they were typically in the profile. Thanks for the comment and for watching!

nice upgrade video, however why choose two 250 gig mvme drives in a adapter instaid of using a 500 gig sata drive, wich now costs less then your setup, you also said the memory was maxed out to 16 gig,as i looked at the specs you showed, you could choose to put 32 gig in the machine, hence with less speed mind you,but is there a lot of difference between 1600Mhz and 1866Mhz,i dont think you will notice the difference, but you wil surely see the difference between having enough memory (32 gig),or not enough (16 gig)
it all depends on the programs you wish to run on the machine,DAW's and VSTI's would surely need 32 gig

Good eye, memory is the first and important upgrade and yes we could have bumped the memory up to 32GB. We choice 2 M.2 SATA SSDs which alone would have improved disk speed over a 5400rpm spindle drive but the advantage of the adapter is we gain an additional 2X speed factor by RAID 0. This is about the best you can get out of 6Gbps SATA port. Thanks for the comments and for watching!

    WHAT?!
No chkdsk on HD/SSD (after cloning it)??
If you know anything about the user profile files, you don’t really need most of them.
Instead of wasting an SSD for raid, use that 2nd SSD for PROPER hourly/daily backups.
Raid 0 won’t do much for you here as the SATA interface is still 6GB max.

For home users profiles are usually not critical but supporting enterprise you want to be careful if you are in a recovery process and this is the only copy. Custom Excel macros are saved in the profile and well as custom Word dictionaries, just to name a few items that folks will want. Thanks for the comments and for watching!
