This was fun to watch, Glenn. I was inspired by your videos to get a trike last year, thank you very much. But here in Illinois, with our eternal winter, I can only sit in my chair and watch your excellent trike adventures. It's obvious that you and your friends enjoy being out on your trikes.
That's great to hear you got a trike after finding my videos! If I only had a dollar for each comment like that! But seriously, it is always fun to hear someone got a trike because of the videos I put out. I hope your winter winds down and you can enjoy the riding season soon!
yes, closer to the beach there are many more walkers and dogs. in most of the hills there are fewer or no walkers because it is so far between places where one can enter the trail. Fun trail though.
A wonderful fun video... nice editing, great music and nice scenery as well. Made me hurt watching yall climb those hills though. Thanks for sharing :) """"I"m a new subscriber, but I'm in the recumbent trike group on FB."""" Looking forward to more of your videos :)
Thanks... yeah I recognize your face icon from the facebook group too. i have a lot of videos uploaded on my channel so if you want to browse through them there are a lot of adventures. I try to get a new video online either every week or every two although I cant always promise that. ;-)
I'll definitely be looking through them. I plan to do some videoing myself once I get my trike. Albeit, the editing will not be as good as yours, lol. You can't beat the Mac Software for video editing nor graphics. Unfortunately I don't own a Mac, lol. Oh well.. :) I'll be watching, and I'll try not to run out of breath while I'm watching yall climb those hills.. those were some doozies! lol
Yeah this was a fun ride. One of two trails in the area where you actually have to climb some hills. most of them are pretty flat. Also one of my favorite videos that I have made recently.
dregerclock Thanks for keeping in the "Wrong Gear Syndrome" segment. I so been there, so done that. Can't get out of the gear, don't want to get off the trike, so it turns into a pattern of brake, quarter back spin, brake, quarter pedal, and repeat. Argggghhh! Indeed. Also looked at Cliff's video of this journey. Given the leggings changes that happen here, did you merge some of his filming, or did he borrow your goPro?
Wow, sunny skies, palm trees and shorts! Looks like fun. It was -15° this morning at my house. Broke our record low by 10° for the day, and coldest day ever for the month of Feb. in our area!
It was a fun ride. It was kind of a last minute plan for us all... but turned out to be one of the more fun long rides I have done in a while. Loved how all the downhill video turned out.
Duc Pham Well I try to ride a few times during the week on my lunch hour in the anaheim, yorba linda, placentia and orange area. on weekends it varies sometimes Saturday mornings... sometimes Sundays. we don't usually have a set time or place. do you have your own trike? are you one of the riders in your video?
Thanks. With the fun footage on the trails and the new CC music source I found, This one came together easier that some and I was pretty happy how the music and visuals came together. And it was a fun ride too!
Long range weather forecast says steady above freezing temperatures week after next. With a little rain to wash the salt off the roads I'll be riding. Yippee! My trike riding friends are in Florida for the Catrike Rally. Next year I'll be there.
Ha Glenn, your videos get me pumped up and wanting to get out there with you guys, I just got a x 90 Expedition, I live in Henderson nevada, lots of hills here, do u use a gps to get around in California, and if you do what is the name of the app. Keep on cruising
Hey! if you live in Henderson.. you should get in touch with Cliff who is in this video. He recently moved out there to Henderson / las vegas... here is a link to his video channel. ua-cam.com/video/aMfkNtaRcao/v-deo.html I use a Garmin 8OO GPS unit and map out things ahead of times sometimes on ridewithgps.com but I know the area so well already I rarely need a routeing assist. Yeah if you are out here some weekend get in touch and we can show you around
dregerclock you could call me the cigar man, I was looking at that river mountain loop on google map I don’t see where it connect together to call it a loop, and how many miles is that, and which way is it mostly down hill, happy thanksgiving to all
you would have to get in touch with Cliff to get that route. I don't know it and have not been on it. If you want to send me your email address either by sending to my address that i listed above or via youtube privet message, and would like me to pass it on to Cliff I can do that.
dang glen yeah put on some miles im lucky to put in 16 miles a day on my recumbent and yeah do 40 on trikes how do you manage that let me in on your secert
well if you are doing 16 or so a day every day of the week... you could probably do 40 in one ride if you just take your time. I try t oget in at least 3 - 4 10 or 12 mile rides at lunch per week... and sometimes get a 27 mile round trip commute to work by trike per week... and then one of these rides on the weekend. I shoot for 100 miles a week total but sometimes get less than that. Just keep up the riding consistently and you can do it. Hill climbing is also great conditioning to increase your range. even if you don't do a lot of miles on hills it builds your strength and stamina.
I try for 1 long mileage day per week but it doesn't always happen specially so far this year to cold and icey here half the winter. And the other half working a lot of long hours to doesn't help but half the time when I get off work I don't feel like riding so tired and draggie . I love to ride every chance I get. I put in 16 miles today. Took me 2 hours to do it at 8 mph that would make sense huh? But maybe I can work in to it I'm sure gonna try.
wbuttry1 Yeah, I am lucky in that I am able to take an hour to ride at lunch and our work environment is pretty casual so my boss does not mind me coming in and cleaning up a bit in the office. In fact.. he and two of my co workers started riding bikes too! I also have a pretty decent route to commute to work by trike (9 of the 13.5 miles one way are on trail) so I can get in some riding that way too. If I did not have those options I would pretty much be left with only weekends to ride.
What kind(s) of Terra Trike(s) do you have? I ride a Tour II, like it very much, currently just have a minor problem with gears clicking back and forth between adjacent rear sprockets near the middle of the range. I worked in Costa Mesa for several months a few... well a lot of years ago, but now live in another state and miss California a lot -- especially when watching your videos! I did not know it was possible to go under the 5 freeway until I watched you do it on one of these videos where you commute to work. So if you ride back you are riding two hours a day, great for health.
Hi Ralph, Thanks for the comments. None of the trikes in this particular vehicle are Terra Trike brand trikes. Mine and Jonathan's are Catrikes, Cliff's is an I.C.E. and Mike is riding an HP Veloteknik Trike. But I used to have a Terra Trike Tour model. (still have it actually - cleaning and fixing it up -- to sell eventually) yes there are a lot of trails here that go under or over the freeways. you just have to figure out where they are! And they have been adding more to them over the past few years. Now one trail goes under the 405 near the Irvine Spectrum area too. Enjoy the TT T II !
dregerclock There is a recumbent dealer near here who stocks Catrike, so I could probably try one out. What model do you have? These trikes are so much fun, and what a healthy addiction.
Ralph Dratman Mine is an older 2010 model Catrike ROAD (which is a hard tail 20" wheels all around.) the new current model of the ROAD is now a shock absorber rear wheel (hard tail no longer made) but the EXPEDITION model that Jonathan is riding is simular to min except that it has the larger rear wheel. it is a fun and healthy addiction! best advice... try a number of trikes if you can and see what you like best. everyone is different about what they like and dislike. but there is a good fit for you out there.
Ralph Dratman I started on a Terratrike Rover, it was a good entry level trike. The Tour II is a nicer model than the Rover. Catrikes, HP Velotechnik and ICE are now the three manufacturers that I prefer. The build quality and engineering in them is excellent. Like Dregerclock said, you should ride a few and see what suits your needs and body type.
Glenn, very inspiring video. Contemplating getting a Catrike. What model were you riding in the video? Had a recent total knee replacement taxed from several decades of military service. Rode MTBs and Road bikes, but now looking at recumbent trikes like yours. Hope to ride after terrible winter here in the DC area. Jealous of your SoCal weather. Miss my years there while attending USC. Safe rides.
Thanks Anthony. The trike I have is a Catrike "Road" (the older hardtail version from 2010 - the newer Road models have the rear suspension system). Jonathan is riding a Catrike Expedition, Mike is on an HP Veloteknic FS and Cliff is riding an I.C.E. Sprint. All are great trikes. If you can find a place nearby to test ride a few different trikes I am sure you will find one that fits you!
Well it varies. with a group like this usually we will average only 10 - 11 mph because of stops and breaks... but moving we are probably doing 16 ish to 18 on flat areas, 20+ on downhills and probably only 6- 8 on climbs.
+dregerclock ok thnx. I just found your chanel and saw you riding a Terratrike in 1 video then a silver trike in another and a maroon trike in this one. I got hooked on your videos, your friends and yourself seem to have a blast riding these crazy contraptions!
+Jesse Reider yep we have a lot of fun on them. but actually my trike is the silver one in this... Some of the video I used in this was from my riding buddy cliff's camera so that is probably the redish one you see in some shots
+dregerclock Ok srry about that . New sub I should watch more vids before asking to many questions. Is there a reason you replaced the terratrike with the catrike instead of another terratrike? I only ask because I test rode a couple this morning and found them all comfy around the lot the Road was best but out of my current budget . Catrike expedition and the terratrike tour II close in price. So any long term insight to overall quality would be great.
That was a fun ride. Pure joy, all right! Thanks for the video!

Boy, this ride looks like a lot of fun :) Nice video once again, Glenn. Thank you very much!
Thanks Lars... it was a good day for a ride!
Thanks for yet another great video. I just ordered an ICE Spirit 26 and can hardly wait. Hope I can have half the fun you do. Thanks again!
Hi Glenn, THE FANTASTIC FOUR. So dangerous Salt Creek trail I see, many People moving on foot there!. Best regards from Spain. Rafa.
yes, closer to the beach there are many more walkers and dogs. in most of the hills there are fewer or no walkers because it is so far between places where one can enter the trail. Fun trail though.

Very nice ride, Glenn!
It was a lot of fun. I have not done that ride in a while.
This one really looked fun, especially the Salt Lake Trail, lots of bends, twists and hills.
Yeah this was a fun ride. One of two trails in the area where you actually have to climb some hills. most of them are pretty flat. Also one of my favorite videos that I have made recently.

John Bacon yeah... he let me use some of his footage in my video. ;-) we often have a few different people with cameras rolling.
Wow, sunny skies, palm trees and shorts! Looks like fun. It was -15° this morning at my house. Broke our record low by 10° for the day, and coldest day ever for the month of Feb. in our area!
yesterday and today we FINALLY had some rain fall here! (we need it) but still not as cold as where you are!
That was fun.Great clip :)
It was a fun ride. It was kind of a last minute plan for us all... but turned out to be one of the more fun long rides I have done in a while. Loved how all the downhill video turned out.
great video...
Thanks Duc, I saw you have one video of a familiar area in Irvine! do you and your trike friends ride around there much? we should meet up some time.
That's my dad. He rides twice a day. Backbay mostly. The other is my brother. When do you ride

What an impressive trail system. We are just beginning to develop bike/pedestrian trails in Santa Fe.
14% GRADE, I get tired on a 3% grade ( I'm 65 ) Keep up the great videos
We riding with sun. What different with snow. See and enjoy Finland like Kalle Bjönklin.
Ever think about some scenic rides in Southern Utah?
more video from this ride... from Ciff's camera: Dana Point Ride 2/23/14
Ha Glenn, your videos get me pumped up and wanting to get out there with you guys, I just got a x 90

more video glen haven't seen any new ones in a while what happened you get grounded from the trike
yeah... I guess i have been lazy in creating videos. Sometime I will put up some more videos.
Do you know your speed at about 10:10 Aliso Creek Road descent?
14% grade of pure joy!!!! LOL

well.. we don't usually have a set calendar of rides. We generally plan things a week at a time. are you in the Orange County area?
Yes
How noisy are the flags?
