the instrument that kalhor plays is called Shahkaman,its a creation of kalhor himself, a derivation of Kamancheh
Ali Najafi I was just about to ask! I've only ever seen a kemancheh with four strings!
it was actually developed by Peter Biffin in collaboration with Kalhor. it is also not a direct derivation of the kamancheh, but more of a hybrid of the kamancheh and the "tarhu", an instrument developed by Peter Biffin as well, which itself draws from the Chinese erhu and Turkish yaylı tambur.

My friend, tarhu itself was derived (partly but mainly) from Kamanche. Shah Kaman itself also is a hybrid of Kamanche and Tarhu. So Shahkaman is a direct derivation of Kamanche.
Zarathustra's heaven had two main niknames: 1) Paradise (or Garden, or Ferdows), 2) House of sounds and Music. That is how deep Iranian culture is in Music (with strong theories and writing system).

I said it draws some inspiration from a Turkish instrument and stressed that it is half kemenche, meaning that it mainly derives from it as the other half is itself half erhu and half yaylı tanbur, but is not purely a kemenche as saying "direct derivative" would imply. you added nothing to what I had said previously but still felt the need to jab at me and accuse me of being a "panturk", which is false on many levels and for many reasons. to echo what you say about Persian music, however, it is indeed an inveterate and magnificent part human history that I have nothing but admiration and reverence for, though I'm confused as to why you added this as I expressed no disrespect towards Persian music, culture, or history in any way.
