These fish are hyper-agressive. One pike where I usually fish will wait underneath a dock for small fish to be released, eating it as soon as it hits the water. It has struck a duckling lure on a few occasions, and is one helluva fish to fight
Here in Austria, we have northern pikes with a size of somtimes more than 130cm. The really big ones are always females and if not catched and eaten, they can even live up to 30 years. Pikes are distant related to graylings, trouts and salmons, the salmonidae family.
If you go to fly in lakes in the north of provinces you will find pike far bigger than those you mentioned. I saw a mounted pike that weighed 42 lb when alive. I also met a scuba diver who thought he saw his diving buddy in Sylvan lake Alberta. It turned out to be a huge pike. The diver popped his head out of the water, located their boat and swam to it. He never went into Sylvan lake again.
One of my favorite fish species to fish for is the chain pickerel, which is a close relative to the northern pike. Species in the pike family remind me of barracudas due to their shape, foraging style, darting speed, and voraciousness. Members in the pike family are for some reason attracted to artificial lures that make lots of noise and that move fast or erratically.

However, pikes are more closely related to salmon and smelts than to barracudas.
Yes
Having fished for both I'd agree with that. They can both can be terribly moody, or recklessly homicidal.
