Does the bass player actually play? I have been watching him closely on other live shows. Imagine the bass continuing when he does not. I know they have back tracking going on but how much?

If you know how to play a guitar or a bass guitar you can tell the note changes right??? you can even hear his own tone. He is responsible for almost all of the low end in their music, especially they only have one guitar, he has to have a lot of presence so their songs are not 'empty'.
