Both my Mother a Pateras, and my Husband a Christou are from Proti, I have visited and walked the paths of my ancesters on three occasions, but the Cemetary is what effected me the most, hoping my Children and Grandchildren will have the opportunity to visit one day. Thank you for this video!!
My grandmother was born and raised in this town. She Immigrated to Canada and lived rest of her life here. Although I'm Canadian mixed-breed, lol, I hold my Greek/Macedonian heritage closest to my heart. I hope to walk the mother land, she once tread as a child. One day. Thank you for video. -Hamilton/Burlington, Ontario
I was born in Proti, my grandfather was Evangelos Angelopoulos, my yia yia was Aspasia Angelopoulou.. My dad, Ioannis Angelopoulos and my uncle is the zaxaroplasti in Florina Yiorgos Angelopoulos. This video made almost cry it is so good and sad too! Anastasia Angelopoulos
I was born there too but the deserted village is heart-breaking. What a pity the people whose heritage is from our village have almost totally neglected it. Yet in Melbourne there is a huge village association with mostly very wealthy members. They have been together longer than most. The village is now on its last legs it has fewer than 100 people and the history written by the provider seems bizarre-totally unverifiable, as far as I know.
Thank you for the post & greetings family and friends from Proti. Our family came to Canada in the early 50's, where I was born. I love my heritage & went to see "home" years ago. It remains still in my heart and while it may still shows scars from history, looking out and down into the countryside the view is just as it was described to me growing up- beautiful and breathtaking.
I just watched this great video with my parents Chris and Fani Themelis who immigrated to Canada 1954/58. Hope to get back to visit the village one day. Very nice.
I note you deleted my recent comment about some of the inaccuracies of the state of the village-there are much fewer people than you state-probably 50 at most- and that the Proti association in Victoria Australia for all its wealth and unity abroad is virtually indifferent to the village. Is there a problem?

Η Μακεδονία είναι γενικά πολύ όμορφη όπως και τα χωριά της !
