I read a good suggestion somewhere. On the first pass wash them in a dishpan or something and then take that water out and pour it somewhere. The spores you wash off will eventually take root, even though it may take 2 - 3 years.
Brilliant! Especially if you have some trees nearby similar to the ones you found the morels growing by -- they like to form a symbiotic relationship with certain tree roots, so it's important to have a suitable host for them to colonize.
I used to work at an airport and they used to ship these out by the thousands. One of the shippers gave me one and said it probably wouldn’t make it to my home. Well I didn’t believe him when I got home they looked like raisins I was so sad. To this day I have yet to try them.
I bought a small packet of dried ones and followed the directions to rehydrate them. My advice is to dredge them in flour before frying in butter. Delicious!
You can sweat them for a while to gat rid of water before you add the butter. Maybe even 15-20 minutes. Especially if you like them more browned. Carmelized
My family fights over these. Hands down my family's favorite food. We take turns on years we don't do well. You pick one, then your sister, then the next family member, ect. My family lives for Morel hunting. We're taking vacation days off work next week to go mushroom hunting
Yummy that's how I do them and sometimes I'll cook them then make a egg omelette and put the cooked morels in the omelette with cheese and that's a awesome breakfast, glad to see You introducing new comers to the tasty morels,Best of luck always and thanks for sharing your videos.
you guys do it a bit different than my family does haha not that theres a wrong way to cook morels. We cut them in half, let them soak in a sink/bowl of water, flour, and then fry them. the worst part of morels is how much they shrink but theyre delicious! cant wait until the end of April!
Different way to do it. FYI the liquid has tremendous flavor. I'd suggest cooking it down so it's thick like ketchup and dip them in it. I like the browning created by draining.
Mycelium is basically a sponge.. if you draw water into them.. or picked around a rain you can dry cook them first a little. After some of the moisture is dried out, then you can saute. It shouldnt be as slimy or limp. Nice and cooked, without being mushy inside.
I study herbalism and I’m constantly searching the ground for any edible plants. I’ve just today correctly identified my first one - and it’s a massive morel. I work as a nanny and was out on a walk with the baby I watch so I didn’t want to stray from the path to pick it, but I’m hoping it’s still there waiting for me when I get off!
Thank You For Sharing us Your Video Brother That Fried Morel Mushroom it Look Very Delicious But For us Asian Culture We Like To Cook Soups i Cook Morel Mushroom Chicken Bitter Mellon and Spicy Soups is Very Good Too i'm From Vancouver British Columbia 😀 👍👍👌👏👏
I just made some! I love them they are my favorite food My family cleans them with water them into the flour and then basically deep fry them in butter. It's heaven on Earth
Found my first morchellas today, and my buddy likes them so much he drove down to the river to pick them up from me lol….I mean I found a couple of 7-9” ones, giants!
Is the liquid that comes off edible? If the water they sweat out has a good flavor you could add a little flour to thicken it into a gravy and serve over polenta or mashed potatoes. What do you think?
Personally I put them in a dry pan and wait for the water to come out of them. Then hit them with the butter. Was out today in SW Ontario and found a bit of gyromitra brunnea but no morels yet. Another few days hopefully.
Are you lucky enough to still have the Elder Statesmen at your Pa Deer Camp? Unfortunately at 43 years old mine are mostly gone. Our camp is our family homestead when they immigrated from Austria to the Clinton County area.
Red prawns are a brilliant deep red colour when raw and, unusually, this colour hardly changes during cooking making them a striking addition to a plated dish - particularly, as in the case of Daniele Usai's fragrant Red prawn, coconut, passion fruit and coriander recipe, if the prawn is served with its shell on.
I didn't know that mushroom can be eaten because it...looks like monster egg. In my country, they can be find if there is fortune. thank you for interesting information! I'll try that.
maybe we can get together next year for the start of the season and you can show me some of your hunting skills? we probably have a lot in common and some real crazy mushroom stories to share. we can keep in contact thru our phone numbers if that is ok with you.
I was thinking the same thing! We always just soak in saltwater, dry them. toss lightly in a little flour then pan fry in butter with salt and pepper. YUM!
Salt Water breaks them down an makes the bugs crawl deeper into the the morals, Just spray each one off with the sprayer. Put them on a paper towel an nothing will show up after.
I am here to learn how to prepare and cook morels because I just discovered two of them growing right outside my doorstep. Thanks for the video

You should definitivly try
I wish you luck obtaining them, they are genuinely delicious and I can say without a doubt they are some of the best edible mushrooms
I used to work at an airport and they used to ship these out by the thousands. One of the shippers gave me one and said it probably wouldn’t make it to my home. Well I didn’t believe him when I got home they looked like raisins I was so sad. To this day I have yet to try them.

You can sweat them for a while to gat rid of water before you add the butter. Maybe even 15-20 minutes. Especially if you like them more browned. Carmelized
Ohhhhhhhhhhh yeah...... that's how you cook morels. 😊
we like to flour them after them after washing them. Nice golden crust on them. Then salt and pepper.

Legend has it that Bob is still sitting at camp.
My family fights over these. Hands down my family's favorite food. We take turns on years we don't do well. You pick one, then your sister, then the next family member, ect. My family lives for Morel hunting. We're taking vacation days off work next week to go mushroom hunting

Only way to go

The old man is stoned
He's a funny grandpa.
Lol so am i
I think they all are lol
Enjoyed watching Bob make his sandwich!
this makes me so happy
I sweat em in the pan before adding butter. They absorb just butter instead of that watery butter mixture and get a really nice glaze.
Mycelium is basically a sponge.. if you draw water into them.. or picked around a rain you can dry cook them first a little. After some of the moisture is dried out, then you can saute. It shouldnt be as slimy or limp. Nice and cooked, without being mushy inside.
"Is it edible? " Bob is hammered and hilarious😂
Love it, man! My brother just found half-a-pound of 'em behind his house. He's messin' his pants!
Holy shit!!! There's a restaurant here that pays $100 per lb.

LOL
I love breading them in louisiana fish batter and then frying them!
Put the sandwich in the pan and grill it both sides! Thanks for the video. Very interesting.
butter, salt & pepper makes everything taste great ;-)
So....sautee them in butter. So glad I watched this.

Bub just passed away a couple weeks ago. 😔
Morels are called Guchhi in India. It is mostly found in Kashmir. It is very expensive and mostly we can buy in dry form. The taste is amazing.
Yum. Best mushrooms. I like most shrooms, but these are the best by far. Just use lots of butter.
Thanks only got 2 they were amazing

Bro. We’re not talking about red prawns.
Would love to try them!
Ole Merle prefers mixin’ butter an oil an dippin’ in flour, but whiskey an morels is an idea I can git with.
How do you know if the mushrooms you have are morels or something not okay to eat?
I really wanna try these
I didn't know that mushroom can be eaten because it...looks like monster egg. In my country, they can be find if there is fortune. thank you for interesting information! I'll try that.
Curious if smaller are more tasty?
When can I come over to eat?
Yep that's the best way just in sweet butter, nothing to detract from the taste.
Good people 👍
When do you go out for hen and chicken of the woods?
Usually in june to find the spring chicken and then towards august look for the chicken of the woods.

Great video! I love them on a steak covered in cheese!
I could eat one of those sandwiches!
Great video but you need to put some breading on those and yes a sammich so damn good
what taste have this mushroom??
if you got bugs on em soak in warm salt water/beef broth for around 10-30 mins helps a lot cleaning them off
Bugs dirt and dust is a myth. Morells are brand new
We just found morels and I’m trying to find a way to cook them (we have about 3lbs of morels) I’m definitely trying this recipe
Bob has seen Scooby Doo. I can tell.
Next time give your uncle some Ranch to dip his Morel in...YUMMY
He means Hidden Valley
We always flour our mushrooms then fry and salt and pepper.
These are the biggest morels is ever seen!
Where are you located at? We are neighbors since you said you are in the Northeast? I live in Schuylkill county maybe we can get together sometime.
I am in clarion county.
maybe we can get together next year for the start of the season and you can show me some of your hunting skills? we probably have a lot in common and some real crazy mushroom stories to share. we can keep in contact thru our phone numbers if that is ok with you.
That’s the way I’ve always cooked them
Draining that moisture is the difference between sautéing (good) and boiling/steaming (bad)
first week of May? .. where you located?

Soak them in some saltwater --- they have worms in them! Or not if you like the extra protein.
Warring Host Makin' Satan Toast! Yikes! Oh yuck for real!
I was thinking the same thing! We always just soak in saltwater, dry them. toss lightly in a little flour then pan fry in butter with salt and pepper. YUM!
