I got my Necchi in 1975 and it is still a great machine. No plastic, basic Sewing. I like it better than the fancy Brother that I have to read the instructions for every time I use it.

Just got a Necchi Lydia 3. Need to rewire the motor but its mint, (Cam stack really good) and I love it. Nearly as much as my 1964 Bernina which is perfectly adjusted and stitches beautifully. I’m more into the restoration and refurbishing although I make basic stuff (Curtains, cushions, clothing alterations etc) I’m no seamster. But I recon I’m ready to up my game…

I bought this machine a couple of months ago. I just love it. But I was too lazy to read instructions and didn’t realise I was winding my bobbins wrong and not using the needle threader properly. No wonder I was struggling. Thanks for this video. It has taught me to READ the instruction book 😂!!

Abi threads her bobbin up first time no problem.
On the Aldi reviews others are not so lucky.
I think this is the reason why.
I had similar problems but thanks to using other machines with a removable bobbin holder I worked it out quite quickly.
It is NOT enough to just run the thread under the curved black pointy thing with the arrow on. You have to MAKE SURE the thread gets down into the gap in the silver metal piece that is IN the bobbin holder BELOW the black pointy bit. Pressing the black pointy bit down whilst pulling the thread to the left MAY help , I have yet to retry that cos I gave up in relief after it worked.
Note when Abi does it at 8:48 the thread drops into that gap straight away, note the position of the thread from the bobbin towards the black pointy arrow, that shows its dropped into the tension gap.
Hope that helps anyone who is having issues.

    Thanks Abi 👌🏻
Just bought this machine (August 2021). I'm an experienced sewer and have other machines but was drawn to the array of decorative and lettering stitches for a tiny cost.
It's a small machine, very light. Simple to set up and use, even for a pronounced mechanical machine lover ☺️ Some stitches don't turn out exactly as the image on the plate (eg: 94 long stem rose and 40 letter e).
Overall, I trust my 22 year old Elna 3007 and 4 year old Singer Talent 3321 for more robust jobs and would leave this one for the pretty stuff and perhaps small repairs.
Ideal for anyone starting out, or for those who will only be machining occasionally.

I have a Bernina sport which comes with a table extension. I am new to sewing, so thought all sewing machines have that feature, it was only when I watched you review the Necchi NC204D (where you exclaimed in surprise at the sight of an extension table), that I realised that this is not necessarily the case and it has been confirmed by this review. Problem is I just ordered this Nc2000 from Aldi. Maybe next time I won't put the cart before the horse (watch review before buying?!!) lol. Thanks for giving us your views Abi.

Omg. You're in the same boat as me!..lol..I purchased a Singer Fashion Mate for £10 more than this Necchi about 4 months ago, then when I saw this one advertised in the Aldi leaflet last month I was so annoyed because it had a much bigger selection of stitches and the easier 1 step button hole for a slighter cheaper price. Well. If the plastic manages to last that long I’ll be impressed :-) the 201k is of another age. That’s something we don’t make now. Isn’t that a shame. In a world where we try to push sustainability, the sewing world makes itself exempt

My Father in law paid for a Singer sewing machine in installments for 2 years. I don't think anyone wants to pay the equivalent nowadays. A £150 machine that lasts 10 - 15 years or more is pretty good value.
The costs of repair are high in this country, obviously, so it's worth maintaining your machine and doing minor repairs yourself if you can.

Hi Abi, I just watched this video and I so enjoy what you post, I do have a comment on thread tension, I find a balanced tension important on straight stitches, but on decorative stitches I want the upper thread to go to the back so there is little chance of any lower thread showing up on the top and looking bad.

    • @AbisDen
      @AbisDen  10 місяців тому

💜 I agree. Lowering the top tension will reduce the amount of pulling on the bottom threads when you have a lot of stitches in the same place.

Had to snap it up as only £49.95! A little nervous though as my previous machines (left in another country) have been extremely solid and trustworthy singer & husqvarna, & juki o/l.... It’s a brilliant little machine. It’s mass produced and so a few problem ones slip through quality control it seems, so people will review badly, but I’ve also read reviews where I do question whether it may be user error. The problem is Lidl and Aldi sell awful thread… they clog the machines and mess them up and tangle up. You may have one that a customer struggled to use for something that silly. I find if you don’t use a machine right, it will give you problems. Personally, I cannot find fault with this machine 2 years on having sewn a lot with it. 👍🏽✨ you managed to get a very good deal! 🙌🏽 I’d be please. Treat it well and you’ll be okay! I bought this machine a couple of years ago and love it. You can change the needle position to set your seam allowance/sewing line by setting the stitch to 00 or 01 then alter the stitch width. You will see the needle position change, but it will still sew a straight stitch. However, the default centre needle position will give you your seam allowances associated with the guides on the foot plate.

I am thinking of swapping my current machine with this one, as mine doesn't have those kind of lovely more narrow like zigzags. So trying to find out if this one does, if you are able to help.
      Hope that helps you

If you bought it in the shop, it may have been a returned machine they put out, it may have been faulty. 😊 I don’t work for Aldi or Necchi, they do not give me freebies or pay me.
