Thank you for posting the granny ponchos.I started making them for gifts, but are now selling a few.I am disabled and need a lift chair.I think these ponchos may help me reach my goal of getting one.Tgey are super easy and look so good .Thank you again.
Thank you for all the different sizes, especially for the Toddler one. My Niece just had her 2nd daughter and I made the Newborn a Blanket and hat. So I had to make something for her 3 year old too and your Poncho is Perfect. I so Appreciate this Tutorial and the way you teach it.
Thank you so much! I made my granddaughter one last night and she wore it to school today.. she was so happy with it that I was trimming the fringe as she was walking out the door ! Shes 4 and I used Red heart with Love metallic with a 5 mm hook and ended up doing 12 rows . I will post my pics on your Raverlry page. I am making another one but going to use 4.25 hook to make the shells a little smaller..again thank you for sharing!
Thanks for sharing. About 40 years ago I taught myself to crochet and made one without a pattern. It came out a bit skew and wobbly, but was used for years. Now I am going to get some wool and make one for winter and do it properly!

Thank you so much for the video. I am just learning to crochet and I was having a real hard time with trying to crochet in the round. I was actually able to make this and it came out pretty good for my first try. Awesome video!!
Thank you for this tutorial. I'm thinking about starting to crochet, and a poncho was one of the first things I'd want to make (for myself at least) This one looks pretty simple and easy to do... Now I just need the matherials and a little practice with the different stitches(that's what it's called, right?)
Hi there - I have just made my first poncho and as I am in the UK I followed the toddler size using a size 5.5mm hook and Aran yarn . I found that 14 rows gave me 112 in length, but following your tutorial using the same size hook and the toddler size you stated that you did 18 rows/round which look a lot longer than 10". As this is my first one I am unsure how long I should make it
Hello Madam and thank you for the video .it's so easy to follow you.The thing is I want to make one for my 2and a half daughter so which one should I follow? The one with 76 chains? Please answer me cause I want to start it Tomorrow. Thank you.

Hi, THANK YOU! !! I have never crocheted anything but basic blankets and ive made this lovely poncho for my grandaughter with your easy tutorial and it looks absolutely great! I can't wait to get more wool and start again. You made learning so very easy thanks again. Sue.
First of all....I just love your tutorials! Do you also have a tutorial for a matching granny square hat and mittens? It would look/match great with this poncho. ( For a toddler and adult size,) And again, thank you for all you do. You are " FANTASTIC ".
Hi there love your crocheting very much just quick question how many chains do I do for a one your old and how many shelves would that be across would that be the toddler size you just done thank you

Omg thank you! I have been looking and looking and looking for a poncho/cape/cloak pattern I like for a cosplay and every other video I've watched is absurdly complicated, or lacking information, or the creators have accents that I can't understand so I'm completely lost. I stumbled upon this and boom! I'm in business. Not quite the stitch I was hoping for, but its worth it to finally have something that doesn't look like a pile of yarn barf. Do you think you could do another poncho in a tighter stitch?
Hello I luv all ur tutorials they r real easy to follow u explain everything in detail,,,, I want to do a Poncho age1/2yr on 4mm hook which pattern shuld i follow plz thk u xx
In the beginning of the video you show the sizes for the poncho’s My question is when you say 12 inches for a child size poncho where are you measuring from? The neck line down or from the top of the shoulder out? I am making these for my grand daughters and their ages are 6, 10, 11 I want to make sure I get the right length or width for them Thank you and hope your safe n well ❤️
Robin Koks Hello, just FYI all my videos have the written pattern link in the description box of the video , this can be found under the video when viewing on a PC :)www.bobwilson123.org/ponchos-and-shawls.html
Wondering if you could help I'm wanting to make a toddler poncho. I will be using 100 gram double knit baby yarn, and I was wondering what size hook would be best to use as well as would I need to chain more chains when starting to do the poncho.
You should use the hook that gives you the best tension with that yarn. Also I would suggest following the Child size pattern seeing as you are using a smaller weight yarn.
Hi sorry too comment an stupid question but I can’t find the written pattern for kids poncho for the age up to 10. How many chains do I need to do to do the pattern? Thanks you
hi Basabdutta Pal, the 72 chains should be enough for a 3-year-old. if you are worried about it not fitting, you can always go up a size. they grow so fast that they should grow into a larger one in no time. Happy Crochet! Here you can find the written pattern. www.crochetwithclare.com/granny-stitch-poncho.html

I NEED HELLP I been trying to make this 4 a bit of time now I am having a hard time joining the round it comes out in a different space every time it looks weird I an only go 4 the 1st 2 rounds ...where am I going off thsi is my 1st time making something like this
+laura gankiwicz hi, you may be placing your first stitch in the wrong space, your clusters should be worked into the free spaces of the round below it and not in the stitches of the round below. you may be either skipping a space or placing the first cluster in the wrong space. also make sure to count your clusters after each round.
ty I have but the place where ya join in the roiund goes up a shell each changes it shud stay in same spot ya? ty I seen a lot of ur videos I cudsay them word 4 word\
im not done yes I 1st want to practice then make 1 4 mee I am learning so much and I been doing ay thing with needles most of my life ... fyi the cornersr called double shell stiches ty I have done tons of granny but never slipstiched things
Hi The toddler video will fit about a 2 year old I would not recommend it for a baby because of choking with the tie up The toddler is the smallest pattern
Stella K. C ohhhhh that changes things :) Can I ask you what yarn you are using ? If you are using thinner yarn or a smaller hook of what I used in the video - your poncho will come out smaller I would suggest using the larger size video - child size - if you are using the thinner yarn s:) Hope this helps you, thank you for watching

hello dear :) Thank you so much for this tut
What weight is the yarn you bought? If it's an 8ply (DK) then you will need to the child size one. Also use the hook that will give you the best feeling finished product.

No sorry, but you would just crochet as normal
Hi I'm making the poncho and was wondering if I can change colors? If so at what point do I change to a new color?
Hello, if you want to change colour you need to do it at the end of the row, finish off the row and then add the new colour on the start of the next round
Hope this helps
I'm a little confused the pattern says 10 ply yarn I use red heart Super Saver worsted weight yarn so what yarn do I need to use the same for me if I'm using a smaller or bigger size

How would you do one for a baby doll .. the middle hole would be awesome to add an animal to it as a lovey .. please do a video tutorial on it please
G'day Colleen Misner thank you for your comment
TO make the project smaller you can use less chains
You need to subtract 8 chains for the starting chain and for every 8 chains you will have 1 less group of 3dc's
Hope this made sense
Lovely thankyou
You’re welcome 😊
Cute❤
Thank you!
First let me say thanks for the pattern. But I would suggest as with all granny squares, turn your work after each row. I did not and wished I had because of the curving point of the poncho.
hello, the poncho does not have a curving or curling when I make them. may I suggest a looser tension. that can tend to make projects curl or curve. the granny stitch should lay completely flat when working in the round like this or with a granny square.

I NEED HELLP I been trying to make this 4 a bit of time now I am having a hard time joining the round it comes out in a different space every time it looks weird I an only go 4 the 1st 2 rounds ...where am I going off thsi is my 1st time making something like this
+laura gankiwicz hi, you may be placing your first stitch in the wrong space, your clusters should be worked into the free spaces of the round below it and not in the stitches of the round below. you may be either skipping a space or placing the first cluster in the wrong space. also make sure to count your clusters after each round.
ty I have but the place where ya join in the roiund goes up a shell each changes it shud stay in same spot ya? ty I seen a lot of ur videos I cudsay them word 4 word\
yes where you join in the round the stitches should be worked into the same stitch where the round is joined.

how come i followed your same instructions but my poncho does not fit through a 7 months old? i followed the toddler tutorial
7 months is not a toddler... You need to make one much smaller for a 7month old.
Hi The toddler video will fit about a 2 year old
I would not recommend it for a baby because of choking with the tie up
The toddler is the smallest pattern
The Potsmith I meant to mean that i was making this for a toddler but it was too small to fit through a 7 months old head, what did i do wrong?

Stella K. C ohhhhh that changes things :) Can I ask you what yarn you are using ? If you are using thinner yarn or a smaller hook of what I used in the video - your poncho will come out smaller
I would suggest using the larger size video - child size - if you are using the thinner yarn s:)
Hope this helps you, thank you for watching
