Until now I never realized it was a real beer. But I always remembered that Golden Girls episode. The look on Rose's daughters face when she she's the girls singing in the hospital waiting room was priceless.
Nothing like Listening to a Beer Commercial Early in the Morning make you want to grab one . My dad use to drink that beer he had a Keg of it He Had one of those beer Meister with the beer spout well actually Schafer was his favorite beer . to him beer was beer same with me . it goes down it come out
Rheingold beer “parade.” 1956. Decades before computer generation. 1000s of camera shots, angles and altered speeds, to make it look right. Very impressive for its time.
Just for fun...remember an old Mad magazine spoof of "Potgold Beer" and "Miss Potgold?" The last drawing showed a bottle of "Potgold Extra Extra Dry Beer" pouring powder into a beer glass!
0Does anyone remember the Ballantine commercials (Radio only) featuring Carl Reiner & Mel Brooks as the 2,000 year old brewmaster??? There were AFAIK a local NYC thing in the 69s when Ballantine was still the Yankee's Sponsor (and a reason Mel Allen got canned - too many product tastings on air...or so the story went) CB in FL
Thank you!!! My post was a LONG time ago...surprised that anyone picked up on it...do you have and source or link to these??? I can't find anything anywhere??? Used to listen to the Yankees on radio in my dad's store in Fort Lee, NJ and at the time had memorized them all -practically
I remember watching this commercial on WCBS-TV in 1976, not 1956. Why would they put a commercial from 1956 on air in 1976? Don't get me wrong. It was a good commercial.
Back in the early '70s, the bumper music in the Rheingold Chug-a-Mug beer commercials was the synthesizer solo during the break of Emerson, Lake & Palmer's song "From the Beginning."
Thank you for downloading this classic commercial in its entirety!
Golden Girls brought me here
Love it when the golden girls sing it

Bottles, cans, self-filling mugs, a keg blimp powered by a prop-equipped beer bottle...
Grew up in the Midwest where the beer commercials were not nearly as much fun to watch...
baker
Calling a beer extra dry doesnt sound all that appealing. Wet your whistle with something extra dry!! Haha
It simply means it’s not sweet or sugary

Every time I hear this song I think of the Golden Girls
This used to be a principal NY Mets sponsor on Channel 9 back when.
A toast to New York!
That was when the NY brewery closed and they attempted to make it in Penn. It was not even close to the real thing.
Ah yessss! The good 'ol daze. When a nickel was a quarter.
My grandpa always said that
How about their chug a mugs!
Lets go Mets!!
@rentatrip1 The term "dry" in an beverage means "not sweet." Canada Dry Ginger Ale is wet and dry at the same time.

Dick Cavett recorded those radio spots with Mel in 1965.

Then the Yankees got Schaefer beer, as a sponsor. And Mel was replaced with Phil Rizzuto, who drank mainly wine. A fine Chianti, I believe. 😎
Do You Know The Name Of The Group Signing The 1950s Rheingold Beer Jingle? I Await Your Answer.
After watching the fine print, I'm not sure I want to drink beer from New Jersey (lots of toxic waste).
