What a time to be a gamer the 90s was, a shitload of masterpieces been released every year at the same time from Capcom, Snk, Namco, Sega, Midway, Rare, ID Software, your brain would literally melt everytime you got into an arcade due to so much epicness. Back when games were art, instead of a platform to profit with digital crap.
Mate i love this coverage, you are awesome. For someone that was not playing video games back in that era, returing to saturn and dreamcast is an amazing journey. The golden age of fighting games, and the amazing pixel art. I still prefer these over 3D any day.
I loved X-Men Vs Street Fighter and Marvel Vs Capcom 1. Cause of how awesome these games are, I accepted the fact that the Supers were easier to pull off then other Street Fighters. Capcom releasing simple controls continually after taking the time to master the inputs made me feel like I wasn't playing Street Fighter, then moving on to Capcom Vs Snk 2. I fully agree with you TopHatGM. There should have been a hardcore mode with six button controls, the Character design going down hill, the X-Men missing along with the stupid excuses, Capcoms greed by releasing the same Street Fighter over and over with little added content. MVC is the greatest crossover fighting game of all-time! Ryu could change powers and Capcom pulled classic heroes from deep out their catalog. I remember hoping Marvel vs DC was next. . .🤩😎✌🏾💯
I know it's impossible to call a piece of entertainment the greatest of its genre but to me, MVC2 is. This game blew my mind when it came out and is still just as fun today. And I like the jazzy soundtrack but I'm a biased trumpet player. If the question is the most important fighting game of all time though, it's Street Fighter II hands down.
Excellent video brilliant to detail information on the MVC series. the best video by far on youtube, thank you for this hard work done brilliantly, P.S. thank you for pointing out the XMEN issue.
Corrections: sabertooth, not saberwolf You missed guile and hayatos addition in MvC2. Also BB hood as part of the darkstalkers franchise Also the delayed hyper combo system seen in MvC2 was first seen in the psx port of mvc1. Making that game a unique fun new experience in itself
Had Marvel Vs Capcom 2 been a Playstation 2 launch title; I assure you that game would've sold like hotcakes. I can't really understand how Capcom came to the conclusion that nobody wanted to play SF3: Third Strike or Marvel Vs Capcom 2 when in reality it's because they were released on console that was performing poorly in its 2nd year and it was pretty difficult to find copies of games like MvsC2. I got a Dreamcast for Christmas in 2000, and I could not for the life of me find Marvel Vs Capcom 2. I knew of only one other who owned it and I knew others wanted to play it in school as well, but either didn't have a Dreamcast (they got a PS2 though) or like me, couldn't find it.

*MvC2 had bad music??????? That music aged like GOLD and it's one of the things people miss and enjoy till this day. You must be super simplistic minded and like that generic techno shit.*
I'll knock out anyone who calls Marvel 2's music bad. Ill-fitting? Yes. Tone deaf? Certantly! Worse than the character themes from previous (and Marvel 3) games? Sure. Bad? Nuh uh.
Although the older games do seem to feel way more unfair in comparison I do miss a lot of the stuff of how fun the original games were hyper fighting being my favorite one out of all of them
Am I the only one who finds the colors of MvC 3 to be too dark overall? In most other games of the series, bright colors and sunny stages are practically everywhere. In MvC3, it is either night or a cloudy day. It takes away a lot of the enjoyment from looking at those cool cartoon characters beat up each other.
I remember playing Xmen COTA for the first time, and even though I never read the comics and didn't care about the characters, I was totally captivated by the spritework and animations of that game. I loved seeing them in a streetfighter setting I thought that was the greatest thing ever. I was also pleasantly surprised to see airblocking and superjumps....Then we got to see aircombos a bit...less pronounced in COTA than Marvel Superheroes.....this was the time to be in the arcade.....
I really wanted to like Infinite. I really did. I'm a Marvel dude. But getting rid of 3v3 and excluding the X-Men purely because Marvel couldn't use them to promote their movies instantly turned me off the game. Thankfully Dragonball Fighterz was there to fill that gap. But seriously, no modern Marvel knows who the X-Men are? BULLSHIT. The first two things I think of when I hear the word Marvel are Spider-Man and the X-Men. I remember playing MvC1 at my local theater when I was younger. Always used Spider-Man and Venom.

MVC is the greatest crossover fighting game of all-time! Ryu could change powers and Capcom pulled classic heroes from deep out their catalog. I remember hoping Marvel vs DC was next. . .🤩😎✌🏾💯
this is pretty based dude . really liked the background information covering the vs series running up
Ah yes, Amingo, the best representative Mexico has had in a Capcom fighting game in years
I know it's impossible to call a piece of entertainment the greatest of its genre but to me, MVC2 is. This game blew my mind when it came out and is still just as fun today. And I like the jazzy soundtrack but I'm a biased trumpet player. If the question is the most important fighting game of all time though, it's Street Fighter II hands down.
us mexicans and hispanics don't care about "cultural appropriation"
amingo seems kinda cool.
Two hours? My god, man. Thanks.
Excellent video brilliant to detail information on the MVC series. the best video by far on youtube, thank you for this hard work done brilliantly, P.S. thank you for pointing out the XMEN issue.
Corrections: sabertooth, not saberwolf
You missed guile and hayatos addition in MvC2. Also BB hood as part of the darkstalkers franchise
Also the delayed hyper combo system seen in MvC2 was first seen in the psx port of mvc1.
Tbh when he chugged the wine 🍷 during addressing the fact that fighting game enthusiasts are snobby and correct in the comments is a whole ass mood hahahahah love your vids
This was sooo nostalgic ❤️❤️ thank you fro making this amazing video
You’re wrong Cammy was also never shown before along with Gambit, Rogue, sabertooth, came out before street fighter alpha 2 gold
X-men children of the atom got the best backgrounds !
Street Fighter vs The Care Bears game when?
MvsC2 was the last good game in the series. Moving to 3D models and shrinking the roster, instead of expanding it, was a massive let down
True
Nostalgia hitting me hard. X-men vs Street Fighter was a turning point in fighting games. The merging of the greatest franchises at that time was beyond epic.
Damn I just watched a whole 2 hour UA-cam video
I’d really like to buy MvC 1 and 2 on current gen but I guess they don’t want my money 😔
Redream dreamcast emulator.
You're welcome.
Nulldc Bear for online marvel vs capcom 2 theres your tube vids on setting it up

These Compilation videos are FANTASTIC and great to splash through the history of these Phenomial franchises! Excellent work you've put into these Top Hat!
Street Fighter Alpha basically used the engine made along the way for DarkStalkers and Nightwarriors.
He said saberwolf. A killer instinct character
Akuma in X-men game be like “ y’all in a bigger universe than y’all realize”
These documentaries are some of the most interesting videos to watch!
fun drinking game:
Take a shot every time he mentions teddy long
this is the 1st of your videos I have seen and I didn't toss the like/subscribe until 25:46 when I saw you with the hat. 100% 10/10 would recommend again and again and again
My goodness, this is incredible.
XvsSF 4 life!! I remember having 25+ wins on the machine on multiple occasions. Everyone was trying to take me off, but my Wolverine + Cyclops were too much for them :)
5:43 Incorrect! This game was Cammy's return after SSFIIT. The sprite in this game then went to be used in SFA3.
As long time Capcom fan (G n G) and as an artist I will never tire from watching Capcom's beautiful pixel artwork.. im the guy whos looking at every detailed background and their concept sketches..
Sure.
Bad? Nuh uh.
I miss CAPCOM 2D fighting games.
IMO they have so much more personality then their 3D stuff.
Although the older games do seem to feel way more unfair in comparison I do miss a lot of the stuff of how fun the original games were hyper fighting being my favorite one out of all of them
x-men were created by Stan Lee and Jack Kirby. Kirby doesn't get enough credit. I loved Capcom's X-Men games.
I LOVE X-Men... so when COTA dropped, I nearly died 🙌🏾💖😍
Yes! Street Fighter vs Teken! Great video! Excellent video !
