Great reaction! If you want to hear more Angelic notes from Steve You should react to "mother father" live from z Houston 81. This is the band that sounds better life, than in a studio. Trust me you will love it. Everything from that concert is a masterpiece of life performances!

Journey was huge in the 70’s & 80’s & Steve Perry is one of the best vocalists of all time. I suggest you check out their song Faithfully. It really showcases his vocals. Oh & let’s not forget Neal Schon on guitar-he’s incredible!

Steve is one of the few artist that sounded better live, than on the records ... make sure you check out "Lights" The guitarist in purple is Neal Schon; along with Keyboard player Greg Rolie were originally in Santana.. Rolie did the lead vocals on Black Magic Woman, Oye Como Va, No One To Depend On, and Evil Ways

If you loved "Wheel in The Sky," you will love all their music, they don't have one bad song, they're all great. The whole group is phenomenal, and Steve Perry's counter tenor altino voice range will pierce your soul and remain there. Here is a recommendation of beautiful songs.
    1. Feeling that way/ Anytime when Steve first joined Journey Gregg Rollie was still in the band.
    2. "Mother Father" live in Houston the escape tour.
    3. "Something to hide"
    4. "Lights"
    5. "When you love a woman" beautiful! This
song was nominated for a Grammy.
I don't hold the academy with any high esteem some of the songs that have earned Grammys don't hold a candle to Journey's songs. So the Grammy academy doesn't hold any credibility. They can't recognize a once in a lifetime iconic sound and vocal range of Steve Perry, and the amazing musicianship of these songs they wrote together lyrics, arrangements, harmonies ...everything! I can't name a favorite cause I love every single one. E. ven those less known like. "stone in love" "Sweet and Simple", "Still They ride'. You will love them, I feel so jealous of a band member who opened for journey who got to hear Steve warm up in an empty arena. I would've given anything for that experience!❣️🇺🇸🤩⭐

He really is - one of a kind. He was only 29 in this video. As his voice matured as the long tours, 7-9 months long. He loved Sam Cooke.
They traveled long and hard. They worked hard to get their music - new albums, heard.

What a treat getting to see your reaction to Journey! You really 'got' the moment here in the 70's. You didn't miss a thing. Can't believe how many fans have to point out Steve's note. Haunting isn't it? And you were talking about his high notes at the beginning .... It gives every fan chills. Your review of this music is very thorough and precisely on it. Loved your reaction! Steve has been identified as a counter tenor altino. Which is why his vocal range is so amazing. He can belt out those high notes seemingly effortlessly, but it's s not, he just has that God given talent! I love it when reactors recognize Steve's (you captured it) hauntingly beautiful voice. I loved your reaction because of everything you said. It is how Steve Perry /Journey fans feel and why he is so beloved then, now and forever. I will listen to your reaction to this song again and again because you expressed and described just how this man, with his iconic voice reaches down into your heart and soul, and remains there still from the first song to this day and beyond! There will never be another Steve Perry he is The Voice! ✨💖🎶🎤🎧❤️🥰🔥💞🤩😍✨
I Recommend: "Mother Father," "Don't Stop Believin'," "Lovin' Touchin' Squeezin'," live versions from their 1981 Escape Tour Live from Houston. "Still They Ride" live from Tokyo 1983. Also Faithfully, Why Can't This Night Go on Forever, When You Love a Woman, which was nominated for a Grammy, in it is beautiful guitar magic from Neal Schon along with Steve's hauntingly beautiful vocals. Thank you!

If Steve Perry's voice was a bird, it would be the California Condor- soaring high above everything else (except maybe Neal's guitar) , and not many left in the world. He was known as "The Voice", and lucky for us he was welcomed by some highly skilled and intuitive musicians. Journey is possibly the ultimate 'white people' band. It's cool to listen to a reactor with a sharp ear, some knowledge of music and the vocabulary to describe what he's hearing and feeling.

Steve Perry (lead singer) is one of the greatest singers ever, not just in rock but any genera. You definitely need to take a "Journey" through their rabbit hole. They absolutely have ZERO songs that were NOT absolutely Epic !
"Loving touching squeezing", "mother, father", "faithfully", "who's crying now", "Don't stop believing" "Anyway you want it", "separate ways"

The Wheel In The Sky, when you are at the poles and time lapse view looks like a wheel spinning. As the days go past he is so busy with concerts, he doesn't know where he is, just performing another concert. An album would come out and on the road for 12 months. I was like you, Robert Plant voice makes you take notice, then Steve Perry and Freddy Mercury, Prince also had a 4 octave range. Today is Daniel Tompkins (The Voice) as he is in a few bands, White Moth Black Butterfly, TesseracT, Earthside. A 6 octave voice range with sub bass to High C. One of the best vocalists for Metal and Progressive.

So much musical greatness, so little time.
Mark, listen up: There are three upcoming talents of which you need to be made aware, and to which it's way past time for you to be reacting to. All three of them are "once-in-century" (at least) vocal prodigies, although they're all very different from each other: Dimash Kudaibergen, Diana Ankudinova and Angelina Jordan. [I searched UA-cam, but found no reactions by you to any of those three singers]
Angelina Jordan: The young girl with the golden voice of an angel, who sings with the ancient wisdom of the Moon Goddess and the all-knowing heart of an old soul.
Diana Ankudinova: A primal force of nature, the River God's daughter, the shaman whose voice transports you into the spirit world.
Dimash Kudaibergen: The Songbird At The Royal Court Of The Galactic Emperor, the man with the humble compassion of an Ascended Master, but whose voice can make grown men cry.
Here are the songs I'd start with, for each of the three:
Dimash Kudaibergen: "SOS d'un terrien en detresse" ("SOS of a ground dweller in distress"; the lyrics are in French) => ua-cam.com/video/cCwiZdFz63w/v-deo.html
In this performance, Dimash is singing as an invited contestant on a mainland Chinese talent show ("The Singer") that features professional singers as the contestants. It was his first performance outside of his native country, Kazakhstan. And he was the first singer on the first episode of the season. The audience had never heard of him before. He was 23 years old at the time, in 2017. After this performance, they had to get him bodyguards (for the first time in his life,) and he became a national sensation in China.
Diana Ankudinova: "Wicked Game" (Cover of the Chris Isaac song, so the lyrics are in English) => ua-cam.com/video/7jv-DQnf2UY/v-deo.html
In this performance, Diana is 14 years old, and is performing in the semi-final of the Russian talent show "You're Super!" The show is produced by Igor Krutoy, a famous Russian composer, who is also one of the judges. Igor also collaborates with Dimash Kudaibergen. Her native vocal register is known as "contralto"--which is quite rare.
Angelina Jordan: "I Put A Spell On You" => ua-cam.com/video/nwFloCPXzCs/v-deo.html
In this performance, Angelina is 9 years old. She was born in January 2006. She had previously won Norway's Got Talent, at age 7. You can think of her as the reincarnation of Etta James, but even that is an understatement. She signed with Republic Records in August 2020. You'll note she's not wearing shoes in this video. She never does when performing, and you should definitely look up the story behind that.
What distinguishes Angelina from anyone else is her ability to comprehend the lyrics of the songs she chooses to sing in a very deep, mature, insightful way, and then to communicate that understanding to the audience by her intonation, timing, phrasing, inflection, vibrato, raspiness and vocal fry, and also by way of precise, professional control over her vocal chords, larynx, pharynx, tongue, mouth, breath and body. She wields all those tools with inhuman skill, like a grandmaster artist worthy of performing at the court of the Galactic Emperor. And she does all that with same apparent ease that Dimash has when surfing up and down the octaves.
Angelina sings without affectation. She's not a drama queen: There is no overacting. She's not a show off. She doesn't include unnecessary runs, nor belt out bars solely to highlight her singing ability. Every vocal tool or effect she uses naturally and organically belongs where she puts it, because the song needs it to be there, whether that's for musicality or in order to communicate the song's message.
Pronunciations (stress goes on the syllables that are in all caps):
Dimash Kudaibergen: Dee MOSH Koo dye bear GHENN
Diana Ankudinova: Dee ON uh On koo DEEN ah vuh

He and Mariah Carey are the only ones that can do the the highest whistle octaves. You compared him to Freddie Mercury. There was a question asked to Freddie who he thought who had the highest voice and best singer. He said, that would go to Steve Perry.

  • @kelleeholmes9448
    @kelleeholmes9448 3 роки тому

My 2nd favorite singer behind Freddie. Steve had just about the same vocal power as Freddie, but did not have the different ranges Freddie had, which put Freddie over rhe top. Steve was basically a soprano where as Freddie was able to deliver just about every note from the bottom of the keyboard to the top with consistent power. If Freddie were only a soprano, I think Steve could have given him a run for his money, it would have been tight. Not in showmanship though!
