ugh i love this song, i remember her figuring out it sounded similar to “the only exception” and then saying she’d never release it 😭😭 it’s the best story telling!
Your lyrics paint some really awesome epic story lines. Music these days too often celebrates shallow pursuits of the cheapest things in life. Nichole Nordeman’s song Gratitude has helped me through rough patches. She has a similar way of engaging listeners’ thoughts and emotions. Thanks Lizzy for yet another good one!
Ok… time to get real. For context, I’m 57 years old. I have been going to gigs since I was 17. Yes, I’m an ‘oldie’ fan but when you kids get to my age you’ll appreciate music more than you do now I can tell you. Let me just cut to the chase. In Feb last year I went away to write for my business in Brighton In the UK. I happened upon ‘Give Me A Minute’ whilst walking along the beach one evening. I can now say that in all of the years I have been into music (by the way,8 years as a Tower Records employee for those old enough to remember👍) I have NEVER been as excited about an artist than I am about Lizzy right now. She is an absolute GENIUS song writer who is the ‘real deal’. I saw her in Camden early last year for her ‘5 Seconds Flat’ album launch. It was just the most amazing evening and then saw her in Nov at the Lafayette where I paid well above face value (missed out on pre-sale😕). I’m going to both nights in London in April and my 20 year old daughter is coming to one of them. Anyway, this is a long post, BUT, nevertheless, I just want to say that, as old as I am, I think I know what incredible talent looks like when it comes along. To be clear, Lizzy ‘HAS IT ALL’. I will stick my neck out now and will say that she is nailed on for big arena gigs and Ivor Novello success. This artist wrote ‘I Knew’ and when I heard that song for the first time I almost fell over on that Brighton beach. Our Lizzy is going to be HUGE🤩😊👍
Hey, man. I'm 59 and completely agree. Sublime songwriting craft and a lovely, ephemeral vocal style. Saw her in Brooklyn last year. She is learning her onstage craft and it's great to see her coming into her own as an artist. Would love to see her again--BUT--her youthful fans all sing along like they're at a Girl Scout camp fire--so you can't really hear the nuance of her singing, just a lot of audience. It's definitely an issue. I'm glad so many young folks are digging her but please, at a concert, close your mouth and open your ears.
dude i totally agre with you, and i might be young and naïve but i think i have a decent sense of good music. i found out about lizzy around 2020 when she posted a cover of "no more room" by emily king with the zoe sparks. she enchanted me since. it might be stupid but you saying that ill appreciate music more as i get old, made me tear up, its such a big solid reason to keep going, which as for lately, has been hard for me. thank you for sharing your long comment "oldie"
You should think about entering Trey Xavier's songwriting contest. I know his channel attracts a lot of metal fans, but most of the winners aren't metal at all. You should check out his channel and maybe submit something.
this was probably a screen record from ig live. plus it's a low light setting and pretty sure she filmed it at night/early morning. but tbf it doesn't matter because we're here for the audio, not the video

This is better lol
her lyricism is just always on another level
not exaggerating at all, i've been playing this on a loop for the past hour. her unreleased songs are sooooo good.

It's like someone took you right out of the 90's and brought you here.. absolutely a breath of fresh air, I wish you all the success and joy. Cheers!
The rays of illumination behind your head Lizzy.

holy shit you’re amazing.
oh my fucking god this is so beautiful
Please release it to UA-cam 🙏🏽❤️
The chords remind me of early Coldplay
reminded me on The Only Exception by Paramore!
So much!!
