One thing that new tanks should know is that mitigation in dungeons is for mobs, not bosses. A lot of bosses hit like a wet spaghetti noodle so even if you decide to eat a tank buster like everyone's favorite Elezen tank, you will be fine as long as your gear is somewhere in the neighborhood of the recommended ilvl. Instead stagger all your mitigations during big mob pulls and even if you need it for a boss, you'll have it back up.
@@DyingLegacy Probably because that is how you tank in other mmrpgs. Rarely have I ever played tank in WoW, but I do vaguely remember that all my big cooldowns are needed for the boss and otherwise only in emergencies.
@@The-Lazy-Dane The difference being in Wow, is that a tank is a tank, and a healer is a healer. In FF14 it's more of a blue DPS and a Green DPS. In wow however cooldowns are roughly the same with big pulls. You did use your Cooldowns. But you also had to use them for bosses
You can remove all players and npcs in the background in gpose mode. So it doesn't matter if someone is photobombing. They just shouldn't show up if you check them off in gpose!
For those that play on controller or console, remember that there's a setting under controller configurations that allows you to set up, basically macros with your left and right trigger buttons to bring up other hot bars temporarily instead of having to rapid tap left bumper (or was it right bumper?) and a button to bring up a hot bar before doing it again to go back to your main hotbar, while the macro button brings you back to your main hotbar again once you let go of the triggers.
@@DyingLegacy Yeah, it took a few months of me playing the game to find those settings in the config menus, but it is really helpful, and also has gotten me to the point to where my friends that play on mouse and keyboard say that I'm the best tank of the group.

I love dungeons, raids and trials but I have so much trouble remembering all the Mechanics I don’t do as much raiding or trials. It’s the worst feeling when you wipe and need the healer to look after you. Even worse when you’re the healer.
Can't speak for others but as a healer main, just let the group know if there's something in particular you struggle with! Even if it's just so the (co-)healer knows to put some extra shields of you it's helpful for everyone. And I've never seen anyone react negatively to someone being honest about their limitations. It's when they try to power through despite not knowing how to do things that's really annoying.
Heavy on the personal space one, too many times have I been stood somewhere and had my personal bubble popped by someone (or multiple someones) getting too close, the same applies in dungeons, moving as a group does not mean mushing ourselves together into one mass, dungeons have wide passages for a reason, use the space

In general, if you're polite and honestly trying, most people won't care if you die a million times on normal content. Extreme, Savage, and Ultimate content is a different story. But normal content? Yeah, just do your best and the vast majority of the community will at least tolerate it.
Dying multiple times in Extreme, Savage, Ultimate is expected. What people don't have patience for is when the person doesn't understand the mechanic and doesn't ask/reciprocate help and continues to make the same mistakes.
I don't think tolerate is the right word. It's more patience when someone is trying. It's when they aren't trying and don't want to learn the mechanics or content they're in is when people start to get a bit bothered. biggest one atleast that ive learned. dont have the if you pull it you tank it mentality. yes it sucks when you get wiped because a DPS pulls a bunch of mobs and either you as tank cant handle it or the healer cant keep up with healing. yea it sucks but it happens. your the tank you need to tank having the mindset of you pull it you tank it just makes the dungeons even longer.
@BittyMERC That's true. But it's still a dick move to be pulling the whole dungeon before the tank can get to them. It's easier to just ask as a group that the tank grabs more mobs. The tank could be new, the healer could be new. Chat as a group rather than deciding who's capable of what. More times often than not, I have seen that hold up a dungeon group longer.
@@DyingLegacy i agree its deff a 2 way street. ive had it happen to me where the DPS pulled too much for my healer to handle. i was the tank and the healer couldnt keep up. i usually try a wall to wall pull for the first pull to see if the healer can handle it it then i will do either less pull or the same type of pull after i know what the healer can handle. but yea i agree. communication is key. i do not like when non tanks pull but i also would never have the mindset of you pull you tank. i hope that makes sense. ugh i am always all over the place when typing things and trying to get multiple points across. dont mind me haha
