it's really cool to see alex actually give a shit about jody's song. he clearly had some baggage with the big star fandom but i'm glad it didn't extend to his bandmate
@@DrawtheCurtains i think he was sort of bewildered by their adoration for songs he viewed as juvenile/adolescent, especially given that they were such commercial failures when they were first released
@@DrawtheCurtains Ken summed it up pretty good. Alex, here 20 or more years removed from Big Star, viewed it as the embarrassing poetry of his youth, and made a conscious effort to not be moved by its resurgence. He basically did the whole Big Star 2.0 thing because there was money in it. I get the impression he actually enjoyed the Box Tops oldies circuit.
Oh my this makes me sooooooo happy!, so happy, wish I could find the whole concert!,
Jody's toms sound like canons and his snare sounds like a shotgun, here. Never even knew he sang this one. He sounds British !
Alex Chilton wrote some simple but extremely catchy guitar solos.
and they weren't so simple, either - he had studied with a great teacher
Jody and Alex harmonies!

This was actually written by Andy Hummel the original bass player but it’s still cool too see the chemistry between Alex and Jody
what was up with him and the fans? i know he didn't love a lot of big star's songs, but is there more?
