Hey bro, what's up? This video reminded me of repairing my leaf blower. Replacing a broken purge bulb was no easy task because of the position it was in. Topping that off with not finding my spanner/wrench, it was a bit of torture but I've gained some great knowledge on what not to do next time i I'll be replacing the purge bulb.
I know right, I'm using a synthetic 2 stroke oil. The oil is not very dark in color. If you take a look at my shorts video about mixed fuel I just released on my other channel you'll see why it looks thin.
Yes recheck is good because you have to babysit everyone these days.I always try to make everything I touch better stronger beefier than new and using German engineering everything must be goodntight
Had a BVM200Fe I looked at for neighbor that stopped running. back head bolt 1 turn loose...but compression was only still like 85. took it all apart & found that while the head was loose "Apparently" the piston had a 1/8" chip on the bottom edge facing out. cleaned up ring which wasn't bad & reassembled to see if Comp would come up at all. best I got was 90 PSi out of it. I'm guessing cause of the chip...ever run across this before?? I haven't
@@HomeGaragechannel 2 smal slivers fell out when I separated head from block & only visible thing I see inside is the chip. Lower outer edge of piston. Almost like the piston struck the block on its last run..neighbor said its was getting harder to start and seemed as if when it ran 5/10 mins it would stall out & would not start till it cooled..i'm guessing the chip is causing the low comp.
How do you know what the proper speed is on one of these machines? As I mentioned before, I have a similar model of the same brand. I installed a new carb, and it sounds like it is running fast to me, but I have never owned, worked on, or even used this type of blower before. It is a PBV 200 LE. It does not have a trigger, but has a speed selector switch. It sounds like it runs faster on medium speed than it does on high speed, but it sounds like it is running fast at idle. It's fast enough that I am concerned about using it, but I don't know how fast these are supposed to run, and I don't have much experience tuning these carbs, so I don't want to mess with it unless I have to. How can I tell if it is running faster than it should be? This is only the second blower I have worked on, and the first hand held one.
Definitely get a tachometer to read the RPM. Typically, on a blower I aim for 2800-3000rpm for an idle speed. If the current setting allows it to run fine, it's possible the idle screw is turned in too high. Try backing it out1/2 turn at a time and listen to the speed change. For each full turn out, give it some throttle and make sure the response is still good and it sounds OK. I find some aftermarket carbs tend to be set to a higher idle speed. But I highly recommend following HGs advice for a tachometer first.
Yes, check out previous work and once satisfied, consider selling with confidence. Your reputation is on the line and you gain trust from others.
I like the way you put that!

learning from each repair is almost a good thing, whether positive or negative.
I'd probably pour out the gas and use mine and run it BUT I'd keep it too. Happy weekend
That's a good idea! To be honest, I don't recall what I did afterwards with it.
@@HomeGaragechannel The way it is when a batch comes and goes.Mine always stayed.
@@HomeGaragechannel You may still have it!
I'll have to check, this blower was fixed months ago, and I don't recall if my testing used up all that original fuel.
@@HomeGaragechannel 10/4 but it has a long self life as you know.
I would have rechecked everything if I was in that situation. What oil are you using it looks extremely light?

LOL!! I hadn't heard that one in a long time!

no I've never seen anything like that before? Was the loose chip still inside the engine?

So you're going to need a tachometer to read the engine speed and from your description it also seems the carb will need further tuning.

yes.
great answer
You just like playing with them 2 strokes don't you ! 🙂
meh, I don't mind them if that's what you mean. I'd rather fix a 4 cycle mower, but either way, I get my "fix".
