I wish I had more to say about Luz but my memory and re watch of her kinda blurs cause while she's a great character to watch she's not super memorable to me at least like I weirdly remember and know more about the other characters then her which again I feel its due to her being an introduction character and even the Question asker character and it didn't help that any time we got to learn something about her it was super late in the season or overshadowed by another character and there problems its so weird to think about luz with the full picture and not with blinders while I think she kept the show together and running I wish there crew and given her MORE and pushed her outside of being our eyes and ears anyway this was still fun and im excited to show y'all Gus also drop 🐈⬛ 🦇 emojis in the comments thnx
Honestly, wish we see her intellegence shine better -- which is why i love the fanfic called "The Girl from Earth" where she's also book smart and teaches the Boilong Isles kids what human realm is like. Still, love how you make her taller and more athletic in general
SAME honestly I'd of loved another episode of just Luz and gus doing human things and her showing him how stuff actually works plus it could have been a way to show how illusion magic works in there world
I’ve read that fic too. I think it would have been interesting to see her and Gus compare their worlds, learning that while each world is flawed, they are still beautiful and worth knowing about and protecting. Also, I know Dana was under a lot of pressure from the higher ups for already pushing for the LGBTQ+ Rep, but it would have been cool to see Belos being this more religiously motivated villain, like Frollo.
Firstly, I believe the whole “weirdos stick together” message would’ve worked better if Luz’s friends looked and acted weird. Honestly, all of them were very normal and didn’t feel strange to me. Dana should’ve made a few of them demons since we saw a few instances of nonhuman witches being discriminated against by human-like witches. This would’ve allowed for the “weirdos stick together” message to have a strong and deeper meaning. Lastly, Luz and Willow should’ve been together because they had way more chemistry in season one. They both understood what it was like to be bullied and found comfort in each other. As for Amity, her crush on Luz served as her motivation to become a better person instead of just wanting to be nicer for her own sake. In my opinion, Willuz works better than Lumity.

When I first saw luz interact with willow I thought that they were going to get together, but as soon as amity showed up I was like nevermind; I'm just glad that I'm not the only one who thought about luz and willow.
They just seemed to have a much more natural chemistry like it was subtle but felt more real then when amity walked in like I love an Enemies to lovers but something about the build up to luz and amity has always felt weird for me
Nglllllll I'm not the biggest Luz fan either LMAO I much prefer Anne from Amphibia I definitely agree she needed more episodes cause the whole thing with her backstory felt so rushed. I feel like we could have heard more about her dad in passing throughout the early days of the series- Just to learn more about her even if they couldn't focus on her primarily. Also I'm so here for more golden accents and bringing back her original cape 😭 I love how it looks like she modified it herself!!!!

I would have liked more messages between her and her mother prior to their brief reunion, leading to emotional struggles. I thought Boscha could have been a dark reflection of Luz regarding her overenthusiastic interests and disregard for the safety and boundaries of others in ger world, and through seeing her realizes if left unchecked and without proper support she could end up like Boscha. Overall, Luz embodied the light the Boil Isles lost along the way and made it her duty to return it to those needing it most. Thank you, best wishes.

I love Gus he's one of my favorite characters from the show and I really loved his outfit he gets while he's in the human realm it is just so cute and I love the beanie he wears with it to cover his ears it is just adorable.

Everything about it I love omggg I just wanna add to 11:11 that in Thanks To Them it's hinted that both Luz and Camila used to straighten their their hair with a straightener relatively around Manny's passing (also hence how the jumps from the most recent vlog of Luz before going to the Deamon Relm from the one before with her wavy/curly hair) . At the timestamp of 15: 42 of the episode it shows a hair straightener in the bottom right corner of the background, even after/during Camilas nightmare sequence showing/reminding the audience how straight her hair was in the series premier and Yesterday's Lie compared to when she truely showed her natural curls in season 3. Also, at the timestamp of 2: 35 in the episode when Gus is explorering Manny's human stuff, in the background next to the Dominican American flag and Gus, there is a small flag thats the Preurto Rican flag, hinting that Manny is Preurto Rican and That Luz is also part that. Also I found a like reverse Bi flag on Manny's gitaur case on the bottom left. I really wanna see your King, Raine, and Collector redesigns!!! I'd also really love to see a redesign of Caleb (based off the ghost Caleb and the colored version from when Hunter sees him in the mirror shown in the TOH Wiki) and I'd like to see your take on Evelyn if we got a design for her! A couple of things 1 Once again you have hit it out of the park with this redesign, so often after seeing your redesigns I'm like "Dang why couldn't we have gotten this in the original" 2 based on your designs and ways you would rewrite/fix some story stuff not only for Owl House but other shows like HGS, Scooby Doo, and the Helluva/Hazbin universe I would watch anything and everything you make if you got your own animated show in the future. and 3 OH MY GOD COLLECTOR IS GETTING A REDESIGN I CAN'T WAIT KD FVK;DFJHOJSDFOVBAEIHGAHGVI!
I think the reason Luz had the beige fit in the later half of season 2 is because she is supposed to be in her depression arc after she promised her mom to stay in the human realm and thus abandon her new friends and family in the demon realm, and THEN comes to learn she gave Belos the means to rise to power. She is just going through it then.
@@LovesArt23 Oh, another thing. I get wanting Luz to have curly hair. Apparently she and her mom straightened it to "fit in" more, as we see Camila throwing out a hair iron in Thanks to Them. But, I would imagine Luz's hair would grow out in the 3-4 months Luz has been in the Boiling Isles (I say the 3 months have passed since that was when Luz was freaking out about her mom knowing she's been missing after camp ended, and IDK if Afro-Latina hair works differently than my white male hair but I usually need to get a haircut after that long and like you said I doubt Luz has access to hair products in the Isles) I also agree that the Witch Wool cape should've stayed part of her fit but like as like a permanent addition, not just for the finale.
It always bugged me how despite being afro latina-nothing abt her design showed that aside from her skintone Shes drawn the same as the white characters & had straight hair even tho the person shes based on has curly hair & always draws herself w curly hair-gives me the ick Its good they somewhat tried to give her more textured hair but tbh i wish they went more with how curly it is I mean i seen more ppl think anne is Black then think luz is Black before dana stated she is
Theres a few things floating around about why Luz looks the ways she does but the only one I can safely say about her hair is when Luz was created theres a pic of real luz and dana and her hairs been relaxed but yeah once season 2 kicked in they should have made her hair curly and just say she cant straighten it anymore due to the portal door being broken

Yknow one thing had disliked about her main designs is her hexsiee uniform... It just doesn't look to me 😭 even if it's just one colour (so how gus and willows uniforms look like) it looks too same-ish to the usual uniforms you'd see in ...god any other series with a magical school lol. Maybe it's just me but the series always seemed to add some clever twists in the usual stereotypes with the setting or even tropes ..or at least SELF AWARE, so the uniforms being like THAT kinda feels like it was the first draft design and they didn't go any further. God imagine if the cast had like customisable uniforms that actually fit to them and their styles and made each thing unique. Its worst with Luz cuz she has all of the colours, meaning you'd need to figure out how to make that NOT look like a clash of colours with no direction, and believe me..I TRIED but i always ended up just giving luz her primary colours and giving the uniform a new makeover.
One of the things that really disappointed me about the show is the lack of relationship Luz had with both Belos and Hunter. When we first got introduced to Unmasked Hunter, we got to see interactions between the two, and despite being very different persons, both were 1) Magicless and 2) Had a passion for wild magic. I feel like the fans just ran with the "Siblings Dynamic" thing, out of that episode alone, but we don't see them have any meaningful interaction until season 3. And I agree with you on her relationship with Belos, it was good, love the concept, but we could have had more. Two Humans stuck in the Magic Realm, but one turns evil, I would have loved to see more of them. I LOVE YOUR COMMENTARY SO MUCH

I agree with almost everything on your redesign except for the mouth. I do like the idea of the characters having unique mouths to them but whenever some paints Luz's top lip she just looks like a duck to me, but that's really just personal taste, the rest of the redesign is FANTASTIC and I really like what you ended up with! Also, I totally love the ideas you have for the rewrite, It would've been amazing to see what you're describing on the show!

I agree that Luz's episodes could've ben self centered and shown. I do agree her story was not explored like Luz, King, Hunter, or the others. While I did enjoy her arc in Season Three and she was a good main character I do feel we agree could've had more arcs for Luz for herself. I do feel while I appreciate Luz the one problem I have with her is this main trope. The main trope female characters have. What is with main characterd for females always being dorky? If I ever see a main character they act so dorky and energetic. Now do not get me wrong the trope isn't bad but it's overused. It got annoying for me especially with the modern disney protagonists. I wished we had more pessmistic female protagonists because I feel the dorky energetic trope is getting out of hand. Luz wasn't as annoying for me, but I do feel the overly excited dorky girl is aggrivating. Not all females are like this which is why I fear it makes us depicted as childish kids. Overall I enjoyed Luz. Though I do feel we could've had more of her arcs but she was a good protagonist. Also nice redesign. Love the freckles and hair style.
Yeah I've noticed the rise in the quirky hyper nerd type character lately and like it's so weird cause Dana's orginal concept of Luz was so dark and different it makes me think that Disneys does this on purpose when it comes to shows or movies with any female main character and as the yrs go by they character type just gets blander and blander
Like maybe they could’ve had Luz start out as a bit more quiet or withdrawn due to her fear of being judged for her interests, maybe a dash of her real personality poking through when something she likes is mentioned, until she gets comfortable with her friends and found family.

I LOVE your character redesign. I honestly love your designs more than the actual show I understand that it’s hard to animate with too much details. The fact there’s freckles on her is SOOOO CUTE it also helps with her standing out too since some of the characters look too perfect…? Idk how to explain this. But the fact you added those was such a cute touch. I’m sorry but I love making character designs that has diversity and there’s nothing wrong with that. This could just be a me thing but… I did noticed that Luz was being overshadowed, She is the main character and as a main character she needs a little more spotlight. If this made sense. Not that I hated Luz, I don’t because she reminds me of me when I was younger, but my anger is more like that scene in the Last Unicorn. Where was the show and Luz when I was her age and a nerd in middle school? Where was she when I was being made fun of for liking certain things? How dare she and the show come out when I became a depressed and lonely adult.

I am always uncomfortable with people reimagining Luz (PERSONALLY ITS MY OPINION HAHAHA ARE THESE ALLOWED ON THE INTERNET?) because she's one of the only characters I identify with at some level gender wise. Even though she's a girl in the show, and I mean I'm a guy, I felt something I always wanted to feel as a kid watching cartoons. I feel like even though she expresses differently and uses different pronouns she's the same kind of gender queer I am. And I don't know why but yeah.

If anything, her and Camilla having prominent upper lips reminded me of Matt Groening characters for me.

IMO even as a main character, she felt overshadowed by other characters in the show (EHEMHUNTEREHEMIAMSPEAKINGASAHUNTERFANEHEM) so would love to see how you re-interpret your character in this one!
I like how now that the shows been over all the hunter fans are like oh shit Luz was done dirty by him like crazy XD as a hunter fan I feel bad I got so caught up in him that it in some way caused luz to be overshadowed again

I just wanna add to 11:11 that in Thanks To Them it's hinted that both Luz and Camila used to straighten their their hair with a straightener relatively around Manny's passing (also hence how the jumps from the most recent vlog of Luz before going to the Deamon Relm from the one before with her wavy/curly hair) . At the timestamp of 15: 42 of the episode it shows a hair straightener in the bottom right corner of the background, even after/during Camilas nightmare sequence showing/reminding the audience how straight her hair was in the series premier and Yesterday's Lie compared to when she truely showed her natural curls in season 3. Also, at the timestamp of 2: 35 in the episode when Gus is explorering Manny's human stuff, in the background next to the Dominican American flag and Gus, there is a small flag thats the Preurto Rican flag, hinting that Manny is Preurto Rican and That Luz is also part that. Also I found a like reverse Bi flag on Manny's gitaur case on the bottom left.

A couple of things 1 Once again you have hit it out of the park with this redesign, so often after seeing your redesigns I'm like "Dang why couldn't we have gotten this in the original" 2 based on your designs and ways you would rewrite/fix some story stuff not only for Owl House but other shows like HGS, Scooby Doo, and the Helluva/Hazbin universe I would watch anything and everything you make if you got your own animated show in the future. and 3 OH MY GOD COLLECTOR IS GETTING A REDESIGN I CAN'T WAIT KD FVK;DFJHOJSDFOVBAEIHGAHGVI!

I think the reason Luz had the beige fit in the later half of season 2 is because she is supposed to be in her depression arc after she promised her mom to stay in the human realm and thus abandon her new friends and family in the demon realm, and THEN comes to learn she gave Belos the means to rise to power. She is just going through it then.
True I just wish we saw it more or at least her struggling not to say anything due to everything happening
@@LovesArt23 Oh, another thing. I get wanting Luz to have curly hair. Apparently she and her mom straightened it to "fit in" more, as we see Camila throwing out a hair iron in Thanks to Them.
But, I would imagine Luz's hair would grow out in the 3-4 months Luz has been in the Boiling Isles (I say the 3 months have passed since that was when Luz was freaking out about her mom knowing she's been missing after camp ended, and IDK if Afro-Latina hair works differently than my white male hair but I usually need to get a haircut after that long and like you said I doubt Luz has access to hair products in the Isles)
I also agree that the Witch Wool cape should've stayed part of her fit but like as like a permanent addition, not just for the finale.

Theres a few things floating around about why Luz looks the ways she does but the only one I can safely say about her hair is when Luz was created theres a pic of real luz and dana and her hairs been relaxed but yeah once season 2 kicked in they should have made her hair curly and just say she cant straighten it anymore due to the portal door being broken

A little detail I would love to see is that the more Luz learns about magic the longer her ears get.
Yknow one thing had disliked about her main designs is her hexsiee uniform...
It just doesn't look to me 😭 even if it's just one colour (so how gus and willows uniforms look like) it looks too same-ish to the usual uniforms you'd see in ...god any other series with a magical school lol. Maybe it's just me but the series always seemed to add some clever twists in the usual stereotypes with the setting or even tropes ..or at least SELF AWARE, so the uniforms being like THAT kinda feels like it was the first draft design and they didn't go any further. God imagine if the cast had like customisable uniforms that actually fit to them and their styles and made each thing unique.
Its worst with Luz cuz she has all of the colours, meaning you'd need to figure out how to make that NOT look like a clash of colours with no direction, and believe me..I TRIED but i always ended up just giving luz her primary colours and giving the uniform a new makeover.
One of the things that really disappointed me about the show is the lack of relationship Luz had with both Belos and Hunter.
When we first got introduced to Unmasked Hunter, we got to see interactions between the two, and despite being very different persons, both were 1) Magicless and 2) Had a passion for wild magic. I feel like the fans just ran with the "Siblings Dynamic" thing, out of that episode alone, but we don't see them have any meaningful interaction until season 3.
And I agree with you on her relationship with Belos, it was good, love the concept, but we could have had more. Two Humans stuck in the Magic Realm, but one turns evil, I would have loved to see more of them.

I agree with almost everything on your redesign except for the mouth. I do like the idea of the characters having unique mouths to them but whenever some paints Luz's top lip she just looks like a duck to me, but that's really just personal taste, the rest of the redesign is FANTASTIC and I really like what you ended up with! Also, I totally love the ideas you have for the rewrite, It would've been amazing to see what you're describing on the show!

I agree that Luz's episodes could've ben self centered and shown. I do agree her story was not explored like Luz, King, Hunter, or the others. While I did enjoy her arc in Season Three and she was a good main character I do feel we agree could've had more arcs for Luz for herself.
I do feel while I appreciate Luz the one problem I have with her is this main trope. The main trope female characters have. What is with main characterd for females always being dorky? If I ever see a main character they act so dorky and energetic.
Now do not get me wrong the trope isn't bad but it's overused. It got annoying for me especially with the modern disney protagonists. I wished we had more pessmistic female protagonists because I feel the dorky energetic trope is getting out of hand. Luz wasn't as annoying for me, but I do feel the overly excited dorky girl is aggrivating. Not all females are like this which is why I fear it makes us depicted as childish kids.
Overall I enjoyed Luz. Though I do feel we could've had more of her arcs but she was a good protagonist.
Also nice redesign. Love the freckles and hair style.
Yeah I've noticed the rise in the quirky hyper nerd type character lately and like it's so weird cause Dana's orginal concept of Luz was so dark and different it makes me think that Disneys does this on purpose when it comes to shows or movies with any female main character and as the yrs go by they character type just gets blander and blander
Like maybe they could’ve had Luz start out as a bit more quiet or withdrawn due to her fear of being judged for her interests, maybe a dash of her real personality poking through when something she likes is mentioned, until she gets comfortable with her friends and found family.
I love this version of luz the tan and hair is amazing also for Gus.... If he doesn't have his dread locs I'll RIOT 🤺😂jk

I did noticed that Luz was being overshadowed, She is the main character and as a main character she needs a little more spotlight. If this made sense. I hate it when shows just forgets the main character exists and they have to last minute add and change stuff to make it work.

I wish I could say I love the Owl House because of Luz, but a part of me would still be angry. Not that I hated Luz, I don’t because she reminds me of me when I was younger, but my anger is more like that scene in the Last Unicorn. Where was the show and Luz when I was her age and a nerd in middle school? Where was she when I was being made fun of for liking certain things? How dare she and the show come out when I became a depressed and lonely adult.

I am always uncomfortable with people reimagining Luz (PERSONALLY ITS MY OPINION HAHAHA ARE THESE ALLOWED ON THE INTERNET?) because she's one of the only characters I identify with at some level gender wise. Even though she's a girl in the show, and I mean I'm a guy, I felt something I always wanted to feel as a kid watching cartoons. I feel like even though she expresses differently and uses different pronouns she's the same kind of gender queer I am. And I don't know why but yeah.
