You can hear a sample from Arca's song "Hallucinogen" from &&&&& at 0:15 . Arca not only produced on this record, but the &&&&& mixtape is what prompted Björk to want Arca producing on the album, which I think is kind of cool how they incorporated little pieces of the mixtape into the songs.
Where are the crazy people who says that the 2nd part of Vulnicura is bad ? This is for sure other mood, but this is senses exploding and the painful but hopeful rebirth after being drowned in a sadness which wasn't far from death. The phenix reborning, this one is so sensorial.
This track took me the longest time to get into of entire vulnicura. A few weeks later it became one of my favourites, but now, 3 years later i see how amazing it really is. Composed with brilliancy she had on vespertine, completely new direction of creativity, carried by her voice, bass arangements and those amazing beats, whole put into absolute darkness
@@charliez077 what do you think of the haxan cloak version? imo it's so superior, not like this one isn't incredibly genius, but the haxan cloak version is as perfect as this song can be, at least to me, it just has all this one is kind of missing.
@@veganandatheist I don't think it's clearly superior - I think it's a wonderful second version, but not clearly better. it's definitely more intense, but at times maybe a bit too much is happening there while here everything clearly makes sense to me (after many listens :) - also in the Haxan version i really miss those amazing twirling synths at the very last part. can't decide, it's a tossup between them for me.
@@charliez077 i love both anyway, and now (because I've kinda changed my mind a little) i think neither is superior, they're just as amazing and exciting and i love them
A truly amazing artist. Since the 1980s she continues to amaze me with her brilliance. I don't believe there will ever another musical artist like her. Angelic overtones mixed with musical expressions that are far beyond me and my own understanding music. It has the expanse of the universe. She is master class.
definitely one of Björk's experimental works and a really inspired one! at points it just weirdly meanders around, but then those really great parts kick in (3:10 - 4:15). the laser beats from 2:08 plus some great strings melodies and layered vocals really stand out. fascinating song structure imo (and 5:42 synth!!) and check out those live versions with fireworks, epic:-) ua-cam.com/video/29-nbNlFvEo/v-deo.html
My throat was stuffed My mouth was sewn up Banned from making noise I was not heard Remove this hindrance My throat feels stuck I was not allowed I was not heard I was not heard I was not heard I was not heard There is vocal sadness I was separated From what I can do What I’m capable of Need to break up Vicious habits Do something I haven't done I haven’t done before In vow of silence I explore the negative space Around my mouth It implodes Black hole With jaw fallen in In fallen jaw Jaw fallen in I am not hurt I am not hurt This tunnel has enabled Thousands of sounds I thank this trunk Noise pipe, noise pipe I have followed a path That took sacrifices Now I sacrifice this scar Can you cut it off?
as much as i love this version, the mix of the music video version of this song is a lot better imo, the beats in this version sound very muffled in comparison, plus the intense outro in the mv version is unreal
I was not allowed or heard either. I can see reason for it. My message is who I am though. I don't want to be taken down again. I will speak, but I can live with not being heard. Some day the time will come, I am sure.
injury3 yeah I love this version way more than the music video version. the music video version sounds like the audio levels are screwed up or something and the ending isn't as interesting, imo. but the different ending makes sense in the video alone.
+injury3 I agree with you completely. This version just sort of fizzles out at the end, whereas the video version is this epic explosive fireworks finale. You can even hear the equalizers in the song throughout are completely different. Too bad the video version wasn't the album version.
You make noise now, but you are still not heard. The bandwidth of understanding is too narrow. People hear narrow slivers of reality. Pretty noises that make them feel interested for a few minutes. There is so much more here. I hear more than you know you say, and you know you say more than people hear. You can do what you are capable of. You always could, but only my ears have come this close to hearing what you truly say. I will hear more again. My ears grow ever more sensitive.
man oh man im enjoying the hell out of this album

I love the way she sings: There is vocal sadnes

I think it's one of her most ambitious compositions! and in some live versions it reaches its full potential.

charlie z the ending synth on this one is one of my absolute favorite things and it does not get talked about enough... it’s so haunting.
My favorite song on Vulnicura, probably!

I really enjoy this song!
My throat was stuffed
My mouth was sewn up
Banned from making noise
I was not heard
Remove this hindrance
My throat feels stuck
I was not allowed
I was not heard
I was not heard
I was not heard
I was not heard
There is vocal sadness
I was separated
From what I can do
What I’m capable of
Need to break up
Vicious habits
Do something I haven't done
I haven’t done before
In vow of silence
I explore the negative space
Around my mouth
It implodes
Black hole
With jaw fallen in
In fallen jaw
Jaw fallen in
I am not hurt
I am not hurt
This tunnel has enabled
Thousands of sounds
I thank this trunk
Noise pipe, noise pipe
I have followed a path
That took sacrifices
Now I sacrifice this scar
Can you cut it off?
This album is incredible.
I love the fcking drum/rythm
Best album of hers
Hands down and maybe the best track on the album..
It’s such a badass composition
I realized it was different since the first couple of seconds, I like this is more organic, pure and dark I guess... Maybe also less intense.
trop dément! fabulouse Bjork "magic"♡

the last section is different from the music video though! why?
I think in the video & live versions she uses The Haxan Cloak remix.

charleskleinenberg i love that remix! i can hear similarities in the video but it's just not the same :/ oh well haha
***** ahh i prefer the video version. the ending gives me chills haha

I want me some Bjork where to find?
