Just did some limited backtesting on this. On my limited sample - but including both Nasdaq shares and commodities, it seems to help if you ignore the ten day low whenever it is within the 2ATR of your current high. Otherwise you get cut out every time the volatility rises ahead of the next upswing.
@@TerryJulianLive It has problems with high volatility, but it should work most of the time for swing and position trading where you are trying to identify medium or weak trends. For strong trends the volatility will get you stopped out. For day trading momentum type trades this is not the sort of setup you should be looking for.

Need to stick to 1 very simple strategy. I like the macd with support and resistance, sell on trend break . Make most trades with the direction of 200 ema . But most simple strategies work if u can have the discipline.

Hey Rayner, First of all, amazing video, you have no idea how much I appreciate your effort and the information you provide. Secondly, looking at the numbers, the 4% risk per trade was actually significantly more profitable than the 1% risk (80 billion dollars vs. 2 billion dollars).
Using 1% risk rather than 4% is to help conserve your capital in a series of losing streaks. You can see that Rayner has had a losing streak of 20, and if you lose 20 times with 4% risk, that's 80% of your capital gone. If you risk only 1%, that's only 20%. Theoretically, based on a streak calculator, with 2957 trades taken(like Rayner did in this video), and a win rate of 41%, the probability of having a losing streak of 10 is 99.8%, and 3.1% chance you can lose 20 times in a row, and an unlikely but possible 0.224% chance you lose 25 times in a row, meaning 100% of your entire capital is gone with 4% risk tolerance. To cope with a 50% capital loss, you need a 100% gain to get back to where you were, so the key is to make sure you'll always have chips in hand when shit happens, and 2 billion is more than enough for me lol

Hey Reyner, what is the preceding "quiet" period should be before the 200-day high metric is applicable? For some counters, their previous 200-day high was 30 days ago, and recently breached the 200-day high again. Is this still valid?
Can someone explain the 1% risk to me? As an example I am looking at the Emini S&P 500 and I see that the 200 day high was broken on the 11th of August with the entry opportunity on next day open. The 2xATR is roughly 100 pts 1 Contract = $500 100 Pts x $500 = $5000 $5000 is 1% of $500,000 So I need 500k to trade 1 contract??
2 reasons... #1: There are people who prefers hard copy instead of digital version #2: Call it ego, but I want to leave something physical in this world, and this book is one way of doing it And you can expect more of such hard copy books in future.
If you only go by the S1 entry/exit and N for sizing, no,, it will not work. If you use the actual rules; different story. Rayner presents two aspects of a multi-facet system. If you don't follow the rules, you lose. And if you're trying to trade LTFs using a daily breakout strategy, good luck.

What does 2 represent for ATR?

With a maximum drawdown of 40 percent there are lots of system that works... Fund managers cant except that kind of expected max draw down.
