I read he is an anxious person but I think he's now dependant on her to soothe his anxiety. And she reinforces his beliefs that he is nervous around people, in this way, she keeps him isolated from other people who may be a threat to their relationship.

No one has a reverse gear on life, we're all getting older, what matters most is that they are happy, and in love, which they clearly are looking at this interview, they are a beautiful couple outside and from within, you can see the love and adoration and respect in their eyes and smiles and faces for each other, thats something we look for all our lives, and most of us, unfortunately never find. I have a 16 and 19 year old sons and this relationship makes me very uncomfortable. My sons watched this video with me and were shocked when I told them the back story of the relationship. My 16 year old son said “why would he want to date some old chick?” No offence to anyone but I am 46 and he thinks I’m a senior citizen. There was definitely grooming and I am so glad that people are speaking out about how inappropriate this relationship is.

It’s not the age gap - it’s the fact that this people fail to recognize that women are just as capable of inciting a relationship with a clear power struggle / abuse / struggle.
Post Me Too, it is without our right to call out and hold EVERYONE accountable for engaging in a relationship where a Director (or a person in power) casts a minor (or someone on the brink of 18 years old) as the lead in her feature film, this is questionable (esp if a pregnancy resulted after filming had wrapped).
