Good luck! I'm glad my tutorials are proving useful. 😁 I really need to make some more maille videos soon. I have everything needed for several more projects, I just need to get my butt in gear. 😅
I'm glad you enjoyed it. 😁 Another good afternoon project would be to make two more and then learn how to juggle. Okay, so it takes a bit longer than an afternoon to learn to juggle, but it's still a lot of fun. 😝
hahaha i think ill pass on the learning to juggle, but these are great stress balls!now to find a evening project to use up the 2000+ rings iv got left after making a hauberk! great channel btw keep up the good work
Thanks. 😁 If you need another project there's always a dice bag: ua-cam.com/video/zz65mf7Bcsg/v-deo.html I really need to make more maille tutorials. Then again, I also need to get back to a consistent upload schedule. 😅
true may give it ago,and you really do easy to follow and well explained, unlike the two messes iv just made of "candy cane cord" but its one of them,i need to make more videos myself but life catches up with ya
Feel free to skip the first half of the dice bag video, since that is all about making your own links. I'm glad my tutorials are easy to follow. I try to make them beginner friendly, but we'll see if that carries over to the dragonscale weave I've been thinking about recording. Most of the tutorials out there are convoluted, but I figured out an easier way to go about it. The downside is that I forgot the easier method... For now at least. 😛
I haven't tried that, but feel free to experiment. You could also try shoving in a cheap hacky sack from the dollar store, though you might want one that's plain instead of printed.
Nice idea, thanks. I also wonder how gold colored foil would look stuffed inside... & apparently have the wrong size rings and am worried the balls will wind up the size of a baseball (14G 3/8” ID). Perhaps I can change the math formula and start with six instead of 8 on the first row. 🤔
+Capitan Pollo Thanks. 😁 I take it that was you on Instagram. The bag looks great, especially with the high shine of the links. Were they bright aluminum?
+Shea Kelley I can't remember if I mentioned it in the video, but these are the same rings from my dice bag video. They're 16 gauge with a 5/16 inch internal diameter.
@@ClyFaker you are so awesome. I cannot believe you replied to my comment on a 3 year old video before i could even finish half! I just finished putting the 5 extra links after row 5 lol my only comment to the tutorial is to show the placement of the links when you say "like so" or include a diagram( i don't know how usful it would be to draw a 2D pattern though) i had to rewatch a lot and made a few mistakes because im very new to this. but overall great video and the best pattern for footbag/juggling because it's more spherical. ill be using this for juggling and filling with steel balls because i want really heavy props.
Just be careful not to make the balls to heavy, since that will lead to the links opening up when you drop them. I may or may not have had that happen...
+Christopher Foutch No problem. 👍 I've seen the no filler balls/cubes before, and while they look cool, I'm more of a fan of these. They have the perfect amount of give for my tastes.
+Jerin Beames Yep. All of my projects (including this one) are made using butted mail. On the flip side, I've never made a project using welded or riveted mail.
+Jerin Beames Yeah, I doubt I'll ever work with riveted since I don't make armor pieces (even out of butted mail). I tend to gravirate more toward micro maille projects, and links that small don't get along well with riveting. 😛

+rovin daniel That would definitely be interesting. Maybe I could wrap a cheap phone cover in micro chainmail, and then I could add a design to the weave...
I just wish you could go more into detail. You do one and I’ll be back when that’s done.....why can’t you do the whole round? I enjoy what I can understand...but. It’s so confusing
Going to finish up my dice bag tomorrow. Definitely going to do this afterwards!
Good luck! I'm glad my tutorials are proving useful. 😁

Loving these chainmail vids 😀
+Ethin Rightnowar Glad you're enjoying them. 😀 I am too, especially since it's pretty easy for me to come up with my next project. 😝
nice guide, followed it step by step and made me self one of these makes a nice afternoon project

woah, that looks like it would have an amazing texture to hold and squish and like... fiddle with the links... i want one *-*
+dragonflyzART It really does, and it makes such a satisfying sound when juggling. 😁
Great tutorial! Have you tried using more felt inside to get a firmer ball? I’m going to attempt this but intend for the balls to be more firm.
I haven't tried that, but feel free to experiment. You could also try shoving in a cheap hacky sack from the dollar store, though you might want one that's plain instead of printed.

Could you make a double layered cast iron skillet scrubber out of chainmail?
+Dylan Frye If I had stainless steel links it would be super simple. I wouldn't trust these galvanized links on cookware though.
8:05 WTH recording error is that? XD
How does it feel when you play hackysack? Are you able to stall the ball on your foot easily?
+C.S Lucas After a bit of breaking in they're great for hacky sack. I had no problem stalling with one back when I played in college.
seriously man i wish i had the patience to do this
+jr harper Just wait until I start working with micro chainmail again in these videos. I barely have the patience for it. 😝
I made a dice Bag using your advice, how Can i Sand You a picture?
Great video by The way
+Capitan Pollo Thanks. 😁
I take it that was you on Instagram. The bag looks great, especially with the high shine of the links. Were they bright aluminum?
Cly Faker
Yes It was me, i don't know what The links are made of, i bought a bunch of metal ring in a costume jewelry Shop
+Capitan Pollo Interesting. I never would have thought to check a costume jewelry shop for links. I might just have to try that myself.
Maybe I missed it but what ring sizes and guage did you use
+Shea Kelley I can't remember if I mentioned it in the video, but these are the same rings from my dice bag video. They're 16 gauge with a 5/16 inch internal diameter.
you can try making a knife case out of chainmail
+Jason Monroe That's an interesting idea. I've already got a couple ideas...
I missed what size rings these are..
They should be 16 gauge with a 3/8 in. ID.
Can i use 16 gauge 1/4 rings for this pattern?
I don't know how well that aspect ratio would work, but you could give it a try.
what is the gauge of the wire and what is the inside diameter of the links?
It's 16 gauge SWG with an ID of 3/8 in.

How many links total did you end up using?
+Christopher Foutch This ended up using 280 links.
Cly Faker thanks I really wanna make one since I seen one when I was in high school. it was smaller and didn't have a filler
+Christopher Foutch No problem. 👍
I've seen the no filler balls/cubes before, and while they look cool, I'm more of a fan of these. They have the perfect amount of give for my tastes.
Cly Faker I like it with the filler. I am a hacky sack player lol. I can't juggle.
+Christopher Foutch lol
Juggling is pretty easy to learn. Well, at least the basics are. I'm still having issues juggling more than 3 props. 😛
Not my forte, but super cool!
+Cello Face Thanks. 😁
about how many rings is one ball?
If my count is correct, around 280 or so.
Hey Cly! how's it going? 😁
+Dwayne Araujo Hey. 😃 I'm not doing too bad. I just got back from thrifting, and I found a Netgear Nighthawk router for $4.
Hey Cly, sorry. My phone's giving me a lotta problems lately. That was quite a score you got!
+Dwayne Araujo I know that feeling. Here's hoping you can get that sorted out.
Cly Faker Thank you, and have a great day!
do you sell these?
+C.S Lucas I don't actually sell these things. There are a lot of other people selling them on Etsy though.
have you ever made butted mail?
+Jerin Beames Yep. All of my projects (including this one) are made using butted mail. On the flip side, I've never made a project using welded or riveted mail.

They were selling for $30 at the Texas Renaissance Festival
hey suh dude just wondering if u would be interested in making phone cover with dese
+rovin daniel That would definitely be interesting. Maybe I could wrap a cheap phone cover in micro chainmail, and then I could add a design to the weave...
do you make money off youtube
+sd Nick A couple dollars a day since I'm so small. I did make a decent amount off of the fidget spinner videos though.
First! lol love your vids!
+Presto Studios lol Glad you're enjoying the content. 😁
Can you make more fidget spinner
+Namkyu Cho I don't have any plans to make more fidget spinners at this time.
