It's funny, I am not a theatre geek, but just absolutely love Voiceplay for their ability to do this, nevertheless! Geoff with his ability to rattle your soul with bass or touch it with tenor is next-level, too!
They have a lot of videos doing this kind of theatrics and dressing up, some of them are the Oogie Boogie Song, the Phantom of the Opera, My Mother Told Me and This is Halloween. But of course they have another ones which are equally as good, like Bang!, Butter, We're Good, Carry On Wayward Son and If I were a rich man/girl.
Wow I must've been early. Haha. Looking forward to when you check out some of the "featuring Rachel Potter" songs they've done... Phantom of the Opera, Little Mermaid Medley, Moana Medley ... well they actually have a playlist on their channel just dedicated to them. Definitely worth checking out. Also with you doing Voctave, the Disney Princess Medley is amazing. Bout dang near brought a tear to my eye multiple times.
My 79 year old mother is a Queen/Freddie Mercury fanatic but she has fallen in love with VoicePlay & especially Geoff after I introduced her to them. She now lists Geoff has her 2nd favorite singer after Freddie. I love the fact that VoicePlay always pays homage to the original singers while doing their own style arrangements. Since they're based in Orlando, Florida everyone in the group, past & present, has had experience working for Disney/Universal Studios, etc. so they all have experience with theatre and it shows, not only in how many of their videos are theatrical but also in their facial expressions if you watch them closely, even in the more low key videos. I'd suggest you try their newest, If I Were A Rich Man/Girl from the stage show & movie Fiddler On The Roof next.
You are right Freddie can't be duplicated, but I love that they pay homage to him and Queen. They were very creative with it. You gotta throw some actual Queen up soon.
LIke you it's the drama, the theatricality, the humour, that makes them my favourite acapella group. They're so versatile, tuning to all manner of musical styles. Brilliant.
Someone once described the 3 best known a cappella groups thus - Pentatonix is the student council, Home Free is the guys having a kegger in the parking lot, VoicePlay is the music/theater geeks.
Great video again. I would reccommend reacting to Voiceplay's songs "The Bones ft Emoni Wilkins" and "Just Sing." Both songs domt get nearly enough love. If you do "Just Sing" make sure to have your closed captions on because they tell you who is who in that video
It was fun. They are a Florida based group and have a Disney performance background so they are very theatrical. "The bass" name is Geoff Castelluci. Along with Tim Foust and Avi Kaplan he is part of the big 3 american acappella basses you can find comparisons of them are all over UA-cam. Geoff has been active in doing his own content during the pandemic which you can find under his name. "Take Me Home Country Roads" is a pretty recent one of his. I've forgotten whether or not I already suggested "Warriors" to you and "Roadtrip" is a classic old one of Voiceplay's Geoff just mentioned recently in an interview. Voiceplay and Homefree competed against each other on the Sing-Off season 4 the season after Pentatonix (2 years later it was cancelled after season 3 and took that long for a campaign to get it back on). Homefree won but the 2 bands did a collaboration called "Zombies vs Hillbillies" to "I Will Survive" that is quite fun. Voctave (another acappella group) is Disney oriented and did a collaboration with Kirstie Maldonado of Pentatonix of "Disney Love Medley". The trio's background in musical theater from grade school to high school in Pentatonix has gotten to be a much stronger influence in the last 4 years. The song "Making Christmas" is I think the first one of that change to their earlier musical theater influences. Kirstie has been with "Kinky Boots" making her Broadway debut as Lauren in the Tony-winning musical Kinky Boots February 2 through April 8th 2018 at the Al Hirschfeld Theatre and will (covid permitting)" be joining the much anticipated Children of Eden production, scheduled to open in Chicago in the summer of 2021".
I literally saw this Voiceplay video for the first time the other day (: I liked it a lot; and having only watched it the one time, seeing your reaction was priceless... And I thank you, Travis ☺ I also watched their cover of Man in the Mirror. It was really good, too!! Take it easy... Take everything in life with a grain of salt... And Take Care of Yourself 💝
I love you reaction! I found you with your first voiceplay reaction!! You should react to "if i were a rich man/girl" by voiceplay!! Or for Halloween react to all of there nightmare before Christmas ones(I think there are 4) and Geoff castellucci headless horseman!
Loved this thank you for doing this one look forward to seeing your reaction to warrior they did amazing cover off that and as your such a massive queen fan I think it time to do bohemian rhapsody by pentatonix you will be blown away 😊
A controversial opinion I hold of the accapela trio, Pentatonix - harmonic champions with a pocket angel (mitch) with a well balanced feel Homefree - tone kings, their vocals mesh I think the best of the 3 groups with a pocket beatbox emperor (adam). Voiceplay - kings of style and arrangement, ofc the others also have grade A I feel voiceplay has that extra thing that pushes them forward for S grade, along with their pocket subwoofer (Geoff) they have great theatrics and charachter in their sound. Super group cast: Beatboxer: homefree Adam Bass: voiceplay Geoff Tenor 1: Pentatonix Mitch Tenor 2: voice play Eli Baritone: Pentatonix Scott Though for more rock based music I'd swap mitch for Austin and Scott for tim even though hes classified as bass XD
Consider Halo - watch it all the way through and you'll learn a lot about VoicePlay. Warriors, Carry On My Wayward Son, Phantom of the Opera. a couple of Geoff's solos - Blackbird, High and Dry, Ain't No Sunshine and Way Down
It's funny, I am not a theatre geek, but just absolutely love Voiceplay for their ability to do this, nevertheless! Geoff with his ability to rattle your soul with bass or touch it with tenor is next-level, too!
Geoff's version of Shenandoah is so smooth & beautiful.
Love it! They really don't have a bad song. But you should check out their recent one: If I Were a Rich Man/Girl. It's outstanding!
I agree & Ashley Dianne was amazing, what a voice !

I lived in Orlando for about 4 years...just moved in December of 2019. Im bummed I didn't know about them back then!
This was fantastic.
How could anybody NOT be impressed by that!! ☺ Please do their Grim Grinning Ghosts and/or Road Trip!! Those are so cute! Love all your reactions! XO

Mr. Mercury once said, "Do whatever you want with my music, just don't make it boring." Yeah, I believe Voiceplay did Freddie proud.
@@johndeeregreen4592 100% agree

What a ride! This was great and Geoff is not human.🙂🍀

Woo!! Been waiting for this one 😁
Absolutely loved your reaction!! Keep them coming!!!!
Love your style. I’m thinking of regrowing a beard now :-) But I am too lazy to maintain it. Could copy the cap though.
Thanks for another great one Travis!!
Love your shirt and great reaction.
Thank you!! 😁
Might check out VoicePlay's The Lion Sleeps Tonight and also Geoff's newest video Wicked Game (Chris Isaak).

This was done because Earl had a health scare. The guy at his bedside in the beginning & the end is Earl's wife.
Think you'll love Oogie Boogie Man. For bass try Geoff Castalucci's channel. He has a few songs where he sings 4-5 part harmony with himself.
I miss Earl. ❤
My favorites are Eli (said as Ellie) and Geoff
Please react to Silk Sonic (Bruno Mars and Anderson .Paak) "Leave The Door Open"
try warriors it’s awesome
I like home free so much more …..
