Had an 1100 cc Saxo as my first car. Took my wife on our first date in it. Thrashed it around the country lanes of Fife. Lent it to my best mate after scoring my first overseas job and never saw it again. Was impounded in Edinburgh and he went away on holiday and I couldn't get it back. Broke my heart.
ecky1965 Ey, most of them got written off, rusted and annoyingly, got used for exchange during that destructive and stupid scrappage scheme. Keep hold of it.. Even the sporty Vauxhall Novas are starting to go up in value. The Saxo will too - probably by a little bit more than the Pug.
@@Faceplant-hl5yn that’s a furio engine in yours mate. Get the 16v 1.6 vts engine mate, well worth the converting etc as you’ll fetch 5k for it then being vts badge
@@Faceplant-hl5yn a furio is the same kit and look of the vtr and vts but with the 1.4 engine you have in yours. The vts 1.6 16v is the better more powerful engine in the saxos. You can retrofit the 1.6 16v black top engine from the Citroen c2s into saxos too which is basically the same engine but with the plastic valve cover on
Autocar’s recently published used car buying guide on the Citroën Saxo said that “the UK-spec VTS and VTR really were ‘hot’ Saxos: air conditioning was never an option from the factory for right-hand-drive cars.” So why wasn’t air-con available as a factory-fit option back then for right-hand-drive Saxo VTSs and VTRs, like it was for left-hand-drive cars?
Probably positioning, steering on the left and enough space on the right for the aircon bits. As the engine doesn't move, there's not enough room on the left for it all. We often have oddities like that in the UK due to being right hand drive - such as button positioning in Audi's RS models
I have a Saxo VTR 2001 MK2/phase 2 model. Bought it standard last year for a bargin as it was rust free, all stamps, logbook, two keys. I've chavved it up though....Sorry not sorry but it's faster now lol....
Wtf? There is literally *no* difference in performance and handling between the two. *at all.* Saxo gives you more equipment... and that's it. It's the same car just different nose and tail!!

I'm very proud to own my own little Saxo

Oddly enough, the citroen is a little heavier then the peugeot, yet still manages a slightly quicker 0-60 time 🤷♀️
@@azzy274 the Saxo gets slightly better exhaust or some rubbish like that
I had a Saxo VTS for an hour and then crashed it 😂😂
