Using for over two months now.. apart from small stuff.. a great media consumption device. Web browsing, reading, Netflix, email, light games. This tab runs like a boss.
I bought the 2gb version and, after two months, I can say it works extremely well. I use it almost exclusively for streaming and reading and this tablet does both these things properly. This is a very good choise if you need a solid and cheap devise for netflix and light gaming.
A TIP FOR BETTER PERFORMANCE: I have this 3GB model and to make things even better and faster, enable Developer Mode and set animations to .05x. This will make the UI more responsive. Also set Night Mode to save even more battery. Delete all the extra garbage you don’t need that runs in the background, like Google Music for example. Disable any apps you don’t care about. You tablet will perform better. The screen is amazing. Looks great.
These are really good tips. Night mode definitely helps with battery life, and it is definitely a good idea to play with the animation speeds. Sometimes they slow down the tablet and turning them down makes it run faster. Sometimes though, the animations are good because they mask how slow things are taking to load. So if you turn off animations, instead of a 3 second animation screen. It pulls up the app.... But if the app is taking 10 seconds to load. That's an extra 3 seconds your going to have to sit on 1 screen. If that makes sense. On the other hand, sometimes the app is already ready to be used and your waiting for animations that you can turn off. Everyone is different with which animations they like. I definitely recommend that people play around with them and see what they like
I got this for Christmas. I love it. My first tablet and I can see so much better. Put it on UA-cam music at night. I can close the case and no light to bother my husband. Love the headphone jack. I got 40.00 from Vudu for rental or buying. Love that extra gift. My son bought my case. We did alot of research and I found the one I loved and my son bought it for me. Definitely want to protect my tablet. I'm really enjoying my tablet. It goes great with my Samsung Galaxy phone. Great Christmas present for me.
I got this for black friday and it works wonderfully. Highly recommend it for nes, snes, and other old console emulation as well as some games i tried like gta: san andreas and Chinatown wars.

@@Seroxm13 The processor is for speed. RAM is supposed to help with multitasking. So if you have a lot of RAM, you can have 5 or 10 apps open at once, without the app having to restart itself. When you start an app for that first time it takes longer to load. Well the version with 2 GB, if you open up the Best Buy app for the first time it will take like 10 seconds. If you go away from it and open another app and come back, chances are it will have to re open again. So it's really about multitasking, how many things can the tablet handle at one time? While the processor figures out how fast it can do those things. And from my personal experience, menus were a lot smoother to scroll through with more RAM. Hopefully that explanation helps!
I have the 128gb version, with 3gb Ram. I like it a lot but wish they would put the speakers on the long edge. It would make movies more pleasurable to watch. Also installed a 512gb mini SD card, which gives me a lot of storage room. I can recommend this tablet.
Fantastic video man, just what I was looking for. I usually can't justify spending money on a tablet when my pc and mobile can do everything I need, but at this price I just might get this as my first tablet.
Just bought 3gb/64gb Wifi only version last weekend from Saturn Germany. Price was 200€ vat.included. It was a great deal. This tablet is perfect for watching movies / youtube / netflix and some surfing. Basic not cpu/gpu hungry games are also ok. Highly recommended.

I just got this my 3rd time because had problems with charging. Samsung sent me out this tablet for free. Reason kept not charging now it works flawlessly I use it for media purposes speakers work decently and I do recommend this tablet

Technically it was only $200 after a random $50 Amazon coupon. The used price will go up soon and the used models will go up in price too. @Furkan Yıldırım you can't use an s pen but you can use a capacitive stylus, just search for one of those. It works similarly to your hand, it just won't have extra features

Ok Dear Android Digest I have a problem with my brand new TabA 2019 that I just bought from Amazon 3 wks ago as stated in my previous comments. I can not connect it to my big TV. I have a USB-C hub adaptor and an HDMI cable that required it to work but it did not read anything. I searched on UA-cam but no video on this Particular Model TabA 2019 yet. Older models yes. It works fine on my Galaxy S10e no problem. So is it my Tablet that having the problem or is it something that I have done yet? Please help? if not, I will be returning it back to Amazon or exchange it for a new one.
I have one (128). The only problem is the covers available all add a significant amount of weight. I don't know why they have such a problem coming up with a light weight cover.
Works well with Zoom and Google Meet and other video calling apps! Battery life is amazing! I teach and it gets through my 7 classes on one charge, with plenty remaining for the rest of your day!
If you are in the US, the 8-inch version is much slower, and has a much worse screen. There is a new 8 inch Tab A that is supposed to release this year in the US, but it will still release with a much slower processor and a worse display. So the 10-inch model is definitely a better buy. There is an international version that is 8 inches with an s-pen, and that version will be equivalent to the 10.1 inch Tab A. So if you are not in the US you should maybe consider the 8-inch version. Let me know if you have any questions, like and sub if you can!

Same screen resolution as the Tab A 10.1 2019. Plus this 8 inch model has 3 GB of RAM. In the US at least, only the 64GB or 128GB Tab A 10.1 models have 3 GB of RAM. If you don't care about screen size, the 8 inch model I showed you is probably worth getting. But if you do care, or if you can't find the model I linked you to, you might want to get the 10 inch.

Unfortunately you need Capacative Pen unless your gonna shell out 100 more dollars for the Tab S6 lite so no palm rejection neither pen tracking. I recommend theese: Amazon Basics Capacative Stylus Pen (any capactive pen works but this is the best one for cheap) with a Tab A 10.1 2019. Tab A 8.4 2020 or Tab A7
The 10.1 for sure. The screen resolution is a lot better. That's the big difference between the two. But personally to make sure you're even happier I'd get the 64GB or 128GB version for the 3 GB of RAM, if possible. It makes it a smoother experience. I've got links in the description. It doesn't come with any s pen and it doesn't work with any s-pen. It does work with capacitive styluses, essentially they work the same way as your finger, no special features but you can get capacitive styluses that still feel good on the screen and work well, they just won't work with palm rejection. I haven't tried many in particular, but I recommend searching on Amazon. You can take any item you think that looks good and copy the amazon link. If you go to fakespot.com they analyze for fake reviews, which might help you find a trustworthy item. It's not fullproof but it's a suggestion since I haven't tested a capacitive stylus

Glad your trying to learn. A car charger will work just fine on this device. But it will need to use a USB C car charger. Older phones, flip or smart, and older tablets normally use a different charger. But this will definitely work in a car charger. Fast charging is a newer technology that simply does what it says, it charges your device faster. Instead of fully charging in like an hour, it will probably take over 2 or 3 hours
If you get the 3 GB of RAM version I think it's a safe bet you will like it (the 64 or 128GB versions). The Tab S5e or Tab S4 are safer bets but more expensive, and the Tab S5e has WiFi issues.

I ordered mine from Best Buy yesterday and am looking forward to doing daily tasks such as email, UA-cam...etc. Do you think it will be able to handle Madden Mobile? I purchased the 2 GB version and am replacing a Tab A 7 -inch from a few years ago. Madden was/is extremely slow and lags on my older one.Just curious... This tablet should be able to handle some games on lower settings. But the GPU which controls gaming isn't great. It should perform a lot better than your older Tab A though. It just isn't a gaming powerhouse. I'm guessing you will probably be pleasantly surprised with how it performs on lower settings.
@@AndroidDigest I installed Madden and it plays great. No lagging, no hiccups... Madden is the only game I play. Lol I need to familiarize myself with the settings adjustments to see where I'm at, but it plays wonderfully for me rn...
I have a s10+ looking something with a decent screen to watch films browse the web etc will I see a major diffrence in screen and performance does it get 'confused'? Or would I be better with used a s3 s3 etc? (Dont have a tablet atm)
Tough call. No. You will not see a major difference in screen quality. Sure it's a minor difference but the screen looks great. Yes, you will see a major difference in performance. If you get the 3 GB version of this tablet, the performance will be passable but you will still notice. A used Tab S3 will be a little better. But it's been out for so long so you might be buying a device with a 3 year old battery. The Tab S4 open box at best buy may be a good option. You can get it around $400. You can try a Tab S5e as well. It has a minor WiFi defect but you might not notice. On this tablet, getting the version with 3 GB of RAM, performance is passable. Like, you can compare it to the LG Stylo 5 or a little slower than a Moto G7. Similar to a Moto Z3. Passable but definitely noticeable from the S10. Amazon returns don't have a restocking fee so you could always try it. Or try to get a newer Tab used.. Feel free to use my links to find it if you do decide to try it. Thanks!
The Tab S6 Lite is a pretty good option. If you have the money it's a decent little upgrade. Otherwise I'd get the Tab A with 3 GB of RAM. (64 or 128GB of storage)
Cons: No fast charging. The tablet won't wake up when you open a book cover. And it doesn't have face unlock Pros: The 64GB or 128GB versions have 3 GB of RAM. And they are significantly faster than previous team A models... Comparable to $300 smartphones. It's got a great screen, 1920x1200 resolution. Speakers are very loud. So it's upgraded pretty much in every way from the old Tab A. But no fast charging and no "smart wake" with a flip case on might be deal breakers for some people. I personally really like it. I think if you get the 64 or 128gb version, it's not too bad. Similar to a mid range phone. The 64 and 128gb models have 3gb of RAM.. The 2GB model was a little slow for me.
Just got my 128 gb version yesterday for $199! Super disappointed they ditched the S-Pen (included with the 2017 version), but, you can’t beat this Black Friday price. I still have my 2017 32gb version and it performs very well. Just wanted to upgrade to a larger GB.
I remember back then they also charged more because of the s pen. Also, the 128GB model has 3 GB of RAM, so it's also better for multitasking. My point is, your new tablet has more space and it is a lot faster. You should get much better performance. You just have to live with a couple minor features being gone. A great buy for $200!
I have the Galaxy S10 but i decided to buy the Samsung Galaxy Tab A to watch UA-cam, Netflix and Amazon Prime, ect. I did not buy it for performance , I have the Galaxy S10 for that. I wish that it had Galaxy Theme Store though.

Then make a competing offering, then abandon what you made and the next thing too and craft a Frankenstein App to appeal to people they just pissed off!)_ Somewhat surprised, in all the reviews for Android tablets nobody said, if it's made by Samsung *It's going to be supported for a reasonable period of time* , and it's very hard to asses that value... I guess, until your identity is stolen or something insane like that.
A few thoughts: The Tab A 2016 has received two big software upgrade, from Android 6 to Android 8.1. Samsung has had a strong track record to upgrade tablets, most Android tablets don't even received one update. Even a Tab A 2016 can run most apps available today. So this tablet should have pretty good longevity

@@nycbike73 long answer: So good news. Any tablet 10.1 inches or under can run Microsoft Office applications for free. Anything over 10.1 inches and you have to get a 365 subscription. If you want a tablet for entertainment first, and productivity second, this is a good option. It has a great screen. Great speakers as well. So it's a good thing to watch hulu or Netflix on. Or to surf the web. If you do super intensive work it will be a little slow. But you can get a cheap $30 bluetooth keyboard and type documents out or take quick notes. So it's great for that. But if your typing 20 page documents that take a lot to load while typing it might lag a little. If that makes sense. Ask any questions. I want to help you make the right decision for you. Feel free to use links in the description if choose to buy. And if you do, just remember that the 64GB of storage option has 3 GB of RAM which helps it multitask better. The 32GB version only has 2 GB of RAM and may be a little laggier
I would go with the Tab A. The Tab S2 is on older software, it won't get any more updates. It also uses micro-usb charging, which is different from most devices today. The Tab S2 does have SLIGHTLY better resolution on the screen, and it does wake up when you open a flip case, and it has a fingerprint scanner. All those are bonuses. From what I know, the Tab A should perform slightly better, especially the models with 3 GB of RAM. The speakers are probably a little better, and it has a great display anyway. The Tab A also has newer software, AND it should get future software updates to Android 10 and possibly even Android 11. Those are HUGE for me, because it ensures the device will get new features and it keeps the device secure. It's pretty close, but in my opinion, the Tab A is a much better choice. Not to mention the fact that older batteries, even if sitting in a device, even if sitting on a shelf, older batteries wear down naturally over time, even if not in use. That device is so old, your device will start off with a battery that is slightly worn. So the Tab A is my choice.
@@AndroidDigest I have an active stylus, not the s pen. It works for writting, drawing, select on thes screen. I wontered if the s pen works for this simple works or it doesnt work at all. I think it maybe be better for the screen

Yeah with Netflix in particular, That's The fault of Netflix. I don't have it in front of me to test. But you can check this list: help.netflix.com/en/node/23939 I don't see the Tab A 10.1 on the list and if you scroll down enough, you will see a list of processors that support Netflix and the Tab A's processor isn't on the list. That's a Netflix thing. UA-cam does 1080p just fine.
No DeX mode. And yes. Absolutely no reason why cloud streaming wouldn't work. It's not based on the device as much as it is your internet. In fact I was streaming some nerdy WoW from my PC though the moonlight app and it worked great! No reason why Xbox wouldn't be the same. Just keep in your mind you need a good connection!
Even if your connection is good it might be slow. Google Stadia has been slow after launch so you never know. But this tablet should do fine from my experience (a pretty educated guess)
@@selencaba6653 There is a version of office mobile installed on tablet but I dont use it.. You should be able to find a keyboard for it on Amazon..I've seen UA-cam reviews of others buying them from Amazon for the tablet..works well.

You can upgrade the STORAGE with an SD card. But I do recommend getting the one of the versions with 64GB or 128GB of storage. Simply because when you upgrade to a version with more storage it comes with 3 GB of RAM! (THE 64 AND 128GB versions have 3 GB of RAM

Can I use Word and PowerPoint smoothly on this? If I add a bluetooth keyboard of course. My laptop broke and I currently can't afford to buy a new one, I need a temporary replacement.
One of the reasons I like Android vs Apple products is they all use the same micro usb chargers. This one has a different size port and charger. Is there a work around so I don't have to have separate chargers?

All newer Android phones $300 and up have used USB C charges for like 2 or 3 years. Also, most laptops now use USB C. You can even charge a Microsoft Surface Pro with USB C. Chromebooks use USB C. My point is, almost all Android devices today use the same charger, but it's not Micro USB. Cheaper kindles, cheap bluetooth headphones and some old devices use micro usb. But almost everything has been converted to USB C minus a few old or cheaper devices
Very late response, but it's tricky. The Galaxy Tab A7 is probably one of the better Android tablets to use for something like that. It won't be as good as something like the Tab S7, but you mentioned you have a small budget. Perhaps a better budget device for online school would be a Chromebook. Chromebooks are normally very light on resources, and if you find the right one it can be pretty nice. If you are wanting a tablet for play, but something to take notes on for school, the Lenovo Chromebook Duet may be a good option. It can download android apps, but it does have a desktop interface, like a windows computer, so you can multitask a little easier on it than you can on an android tablet. Good luck finding something!

The Huawei technically has 1,000 more mAh in the battery, so a little better battery life for it. It will probably be similar as far as speed, assuming you get the Galaxy Tab 64 or 128gb versions with 3 GB of RAM. But in my opinion the Huawei is a no buy for a lot of reasons. First it's running extremely old outdated software which is in my mind a security risk and I don't see it getting newer updates. Second, Huawei has been seen as such a security risk in the US that they are literally banned from using Android in the future. They consistently lie about their products (showing real cameras shots and pretending that their phones took them) (they also have faked phone benchmarks). And they also have clear ties to the Chinese government. If those things aren't a big deal, then you need to know that the device will stack up pretty evenly with this tablet.. The Huawei will have very outdated software. But it will have a bigger battery, and speeds will be similar.. Hopefully this helps
Great news. Any tablet OVER 10.1 inches needs an Office 365 subscription. This tablet does NOT need an Office 365 subscription so you can use Excel and Word for free. I have another video that's on Tab A accessories that I just uploaded. I go into detail there on my favorite Bluetooth keyboard. ua-cam.com/video/gYCYcGTNRWk/v-deo.html I think this is great for taking notes, it's great for entertainment and some casual browsing. It's not great for 15 or 20 page papers. It might lag at that point, but it will be great for some quick note taking, it's got a great screen for reading. I'd recommend getting the 64 GB ot 128 GB model. They come with 3 GB of RAM which will help speed it up

@@mounaim8729 No. I think it should be able to READ a 15 page paper just fine. But if you are writing one, through google docs or microsoft word. Editing a really long paper can take a little more power. This is great for reading and taking quick notes

@@mounaim8729 I should have addressed that part. I did have lag with he 2 GB of RAM version.... All the stuff I was mentioning was for the 3 GB version. In most cases, everything I said should apply to you. But the 2 GB version will have to re load apps often. When apps first start up they take 3-5 extra seconds sometimes to load.. So it's harder to multitask. I think the 3 GB of RAM version (the 64 GB or 128 GB models) would be enough for you. I'm a little iffy on recommending the 2 GB model with what you've explained. You will probably be okay with it, but I'm on the fence, just like you are
You say in this video the tablet you are using is the 3GB version but your link to amazon and bestbuy take the viewer to the 2GB version. Is there actually a 3GB one out there?

The speakers are on the bottom by the charging port. One speaker on the left of the charging port and one on the right. Both speakers are on the bottom of the tablet
@@JesterCGI To be fair, it's their budget tablet. The Tab S5e has speakers on both sides. And the two speakers are pretty powerful for what they are. Many $300 phones only have speakers on one side, normally only one speaker, this tablet has two. I really wish it had speakers on both sides too, but I'll take two decently loud speakers :)

Yes. It can help some ways. But in some ways, it can make it worse. Example: An app takes 10 seconds to load normally. You change the animations in developer mode to off. So you save 1-2 seconds in animations. Now you pulled up the app quicker, but you now have to wait 8 seconds while the app loads. Animations can sometimes mask your loading times, rather than you sitting on a screen during them, if that makes sense. Some people will prefer the to remove/reduce the animations though. I think it's 50/50.
There is a international model of the Tab A 2019, an 8" model, that comes with an s-pen. People in the US can buy it from Amazon but there won't be a warranty. Because it's not a US model amzn.to/2P3mHD3

I bought the 2gb version and, after two months, I can say it works extremely well. I use it almost exclusively for streaming and reading and this tablet does both these things properly. This is a very good choise if you need a solid and cheap devise for netflix and light gaming.

A TIP FOR BETTER PERFORMANCE: I have this 3GB model and to make things even better and faster, enable Developer Mode and set animations to .05x. This will make the UI more responsive. Also set Night Mode to save even more battery. Delete all the extra garbage you don’t need that runs in the background, like Google Music for example. Disable any apps you don’t care about. You tablet will perform better. The screen is amazing. Looks great.
These are really good tips. Night mode definitely helps with battery life, and it is definitely a good idea to play with the animation speeds.
Sometimes they slow down the tablet and turning them down makes it run faster.
Sometimes though, the animations are good because they mask how slow things are taking to load.
So if you turn off animations, instead of a 3 second animation screen. It pulls up the app.... But if the app is taking 10 seconds to load. That's an extra 3 seconds your going to have to sit on 1 screen. If that makes sense.
On the other hand, sometimes the app is already ready to be used and your waiting for animations that you can turn off.
Everyone is different with which animations they like. I definitely recommend that people play around with them and see what they like

I got this for Christmas. I love it. My first tablet and I can see so much better. Put it on UA-cam music at night. I can close the case and no light to bother my husband. Love the headphone jack. I got 40.00 from Vudu for rental or buying. Love that extra gift. My son bought my case. We did alot of research and I found the one I loved and my son bought it for me. Definitely want to protect my tablet. I'm really enjoying my tablet. It goes great with my Samsung Galaxy phone. Great Christmas present for me.

@@Seroxm13 The processor is for speed. RAM is supposed to help with multitasking.
So if you have a lot of RAM, you can have 5 or 10 apps open at once, without the app having to restart itself. When you start an app for that first time it takes longer to load.
Well the version with 2 GB, if you open up the Best Buy app for the first time it will take like 10 seconds. If you go away from it and open another app and come back, chances are it will have to re open again. So it's really about multitasking, how many things can the tablet handle at one time? While the processor figures out how fast it can do those things.
And from my personal experience, menus were a lot smoother to scroll through with more RAM.

I have the 128gb version, with 3gb Ram. I like it a lot but wish they would put the speakers on the long edge. It would make movies more pleasurable to watch. Also installed a 512gb mini SD card, which gives me a lot of storage room. I can recommend this tablet.

The $218 model is from the Amazon warehouse, so it's an Amazon return, most likely under 30 days old. The 64 GB model also has 3 GB of RAM too.. They might come back in stock at some point. Worst case you could get it for $220 used. Or $250 at Best Buy. Technically it was only $200 after a random $50 Amazon coupon. The used price will go up soon and the used models will go up in price too. You could wait, but the used one is in good condition and is just a return anyway, so $220 isn't bad.

@Furkan Yıldırım you can't use an s pen but you can use a capacitive stylus, just search for one of those. It works similarly to your hand, it just won't have extra features

Ok Dear Android Digest I have a problem with my brand new TabA 2019 that I just bought from Amazon 3 wks ago as stated in my previous comments. I can not connect it to my big TV. I have a USB-C hub adaptor and an HDMI cable that required it to work but it did not read anything. I searched on UA-cam but no video on this Particular Model TabA 2019 yet. Older models yes. It works fine on my Galaxy S10e no problem. So is it my Tablet that having the problem or is it something that I have done yet? Please help? if not, I will be returning it back to Amazon or exchange it for a new one.
I have one (128). The only problem is the covers available all add a significant amount of weight. I don't know why they have such a problem coming up with a light weight cover.

If you are in the US, the 8-inch version is much slower, and has a much worse screen. There is a new 8 inch Tab A that is supposed to release this year in the US, but it will still release with a much slower processor and a worse display.
So the 10-inch model is definitely a better buy.
There is an international version that is 8 inches with an s-pen, and that version will be equivalent to the 10.1 inch Tab A. So if you are not in the US you should maybe consider the 8-inch version.

Same screen resolution as the Tab A 10.1 2019. Plus this 8 inch model has 3 GB of RAM. In the US at least, only the 64GB or 128GB Tab A 10.1 models have 3 GB of RAM.
If you don't care about screen size, the 8 inch model I showed you is probably worth getting. But if you do care, or if you can't find the model I linked you to, you might want to get the 10 inch.

Unfortunately you need Capacative Pen unless your gonna shell out 100 more dollars for the Tab S6 lite so no palm rejection neither pen tracking. I recommend theese: Amazon Basics Capacative Stylus Pen (any capactive pen works but this is the best one for cheap) with a Tab A 10.1 2019. Tab A 8.4 2020 or Tab A7

The 10.1 for sure. The screen resolution is a lot better. That's the big difference between the two. But personally to make sure you're even happier I'd get the 64GB or 128GB version for the 3 GB of RAM, if possible. It makes it a smoother experience. I've got links in the description. It doesn't come with any s pen and it doesn't work with any s-pen.
It does work with capacitive styluses, essentially they work the same way as your finger, no special features but you can get capacitive styluses that still feel good on the screen and work well, they just won't work with palm rejection.
I haven't tried many in particular, but I recommend searching on Amazon. You can take any item you think that looks good and copy the amazon link. If you go to fakespot.com they analyze for fake reviews, which might help you find a trustworthy item. It's not fullproof but it's a suggestion since I haven't tested a capacitive stylus

No stylus - this tablet does not have a digitiser layer. You can use a capacitive stylu, but these are mainly junk.

Glad your trying to learn. A car charger will work just fine on this device. But it will need to use a USB C car charger. Older phones, flip or smart, and older tablets normally use a different charger. But this will definitely work in a car charger.
Fast charging is a newer technology that simply does what it says, it charges your device faster. Instead of fully charging in like an hour, it will probably take over 2 or 3 hours

If you get the 3 GB of RAM version I think it's a safe bet you will like it (the 64 or 128GB versions).
The Tab S5e or Tab S4 are safer bets but more expensive, and the Tab S5e has WiFi issues.

I purchased the 2 GB version and am replacing a Tab A 7 -inch from a few years ago. Madden was/is extremely slow and lags on my older one.Just curious... This tablet should be able to handle some games on lower settings. But the GPU which controls gaming isn't great. It should perform a lot better than your older Tab A though. It just isn't a gaming powerhouse. I'm guessing you will probably be pleasantly surprised with how it performs on lower settings.

No. You will not see a major difference in screen quality. Sure it's a minor difference but the screen looks great. Yes, you will see a major difference in performance.
If you get the 3 GB version of this tablet, the performance will be passable but you will still notice.
A used Tab S3 will be a little better. But it's been out for so long so you might be buying a device with a 3 year old battery.
The Tab S4 open box at best buy may be a good option. You can get it around $400. You can try a Tab S5e as well. It has a minor WiFi defect but you might not notice.
On this tablet, getting the version with 3 GB of RAM, performance is passable. Like, you can compare it to the LG Stylo 5 or a little slower than a Moto G7. Similar to a Moto Z3. Passable but definitely noticeable from the S10.
Amazon returns don't have a restocking fee so you could always try it. Or try to get a newer Tab used..

The Tab S6 Lite is a pretty good option. If you have the money it's a decent little upgrade. Otherwise I'd get the Tab A with 3 GB of RAM. (64 or 128GB of storage)

Pros: The 64GB or 128GB versions have 3 GB of RAM. And they are significantly faster than previous team A models... Comparable to $300 smartphones.
It's got a great screen, 1920x1200 resolution.
Speakers are very loud.
So it's upgraded pretty much in every way from the old Tab A. But no fast charging and no "smart wake" with a flip case on might be deal breakers for some people.
I personally really like it. Best tablet for under $300. As long as your okay with the cons

I think if you get the 64 or 128gb version, it's not too bad. Similar to a mid range phone. The 64 and 128gb models have 3gb of RAM.. The 2GB model was a little slow for me.

Just got my 128 gb version yesterday for $199! Super disappointed they ditched the S-Pen (included with the 2017 version), but, you can’t beat this Black Friday price. I still have my 2017 32gb version and it performs very well. Just wanted to upgrade to a larger GB.
I remember back then they also charged more because of the s pen.
Also, the 128GB model has 3 GB of RAM, so it's also better for multitasking.
My point is, your new tablet has more space and it is a lot faster. You should get much better performance. You just have to live with a couple minor features being gone. A great buy for $200!

Somewhat surprised, in all the reviews for Android tablets nobody said, if it's made by Samsung *It's going to be supported for a reasonable period of time* , and it's very hard to asses that value... I guess, until your identity is stolen or something insane like that.
A few thoughts: The Tab A 2016 has received two big software upgrade, from Android 6 to Android 8.1.
Samsung has had a strong track record to upgrade tablets, most Android tablets don't even received one update.
Even a Tab A 2016 can run most apps available today. So this tablet should have pretty good longevity
@Rob M exactly!!! All these big tech sites say Android tablets are dead. But these cheaper Samsung tablets show otherwise. Two nice speakers. A great screen. Way better than any $150 laptop.. because it's way better for movies, games oe casual browsing.

So good news. Any tablet 10.1 inches or under can run Microsoft Office applications for free. Anything over 10.1 inches and you have to get a 365 subscription.
If you want a tablet for entertainment first, and productivity second, this is a good option.
It has a great screen. Great speakers as well. So it's a good thing to watch hulu or Netflix on. Or to surf the web.
If you do super intensive work it will be a little slow. But you can get a cheap $30 bluetooth keyboard and type documents out or take quick notes. So it's great for that.
But if your typing 20 page documents that take a lot to load while typing it might lag a little. If that makes sense.
Ask any questions. I want to help you make the right decision for you. Feel free to use links in the description if choose to buy. I would go with the Tab A.
The Tab S2 is on older software, it won't get any more updates. It also uses micro-usb charging, which is different from most devices today.
The Tab S2 does have SLIGHTLY better resolution on the screen, and it does wake up when you open a flip case, and it has a fingerprint scanner. All those are bonuses.
From what I know, the Tab A should perform slightly better, especially the models with 3 GB of RAM. The speakers are probably a little better, and it has a great display anyway. The Tab A also has newer software, AND it should get future software updates to Android 10 and possibly even Android 11. Those are HUGE for me, because it ensures the device will get new features and it keeps the device secure.
It's pretty close, but in my opinion, the Tab A is a much better choice. Not to mention the fact that older batteries, even if sitting in a device, even if sitting on a shelf, older batteries wear down naturally over time, even if not in use. That device is so old, your device will start off with a battery that is slightly worn. So the Tab A is my choice.

Can't answer calls but you can use the SIM on the LTE variant to use Mobile Data with it.

Definitely. Because it has a great screen and should be able to load comics very easily. And a nice big screen. Definitely recommend it for that.

It doesn't. It needs a capacitive stylus. It won't have the s pen features but you can get a pretty decent one

Yeah with Netflix in particular, That's The fault of Netflix. I don't have it in front of me to test. But you can check this list: help.netflix.com/en/node/23939
I don't see the Tab A 10.1 on the list and if you scroll down enough, you will see a list of processors that support Netflix and the Tab A's processor isn't on the list.

No DeX mode. And yes. Absolutely no reason why cloud streaming wouldn't work. It's not based on the device as much as it is your internet.
In fact I was streaming some nerdy WoW from my PC though the moonlight app and it worked great! No reason why Xbox wouldn't be the same. Just keep in your mind you need a good connection!
Even if your connection is good it might be slow. Google Stadia has been slow after launch so you never know. But this tablet should do fine from my experience (a pretty educated guess)

You can upgrade the STORAGE with an SD card. But I do recommend getting the one of the versions with 64GB or 128GB of storage. Simply because when you upgrade to a version with more storage it comes with 3 GB of RAM! (THE 64 AND 128GB versions have 3 GB of RAM

One of the reasons I like Android vs Apple products is they all use the same micro usb chargers. This one has a different size port and charger. Is there a work around so I don't have to have separate chargers?

But let me give a suggestion or a thought:
Almost every device is going to USB C. All newer Android phones $300 and up have used USB C charges for like 2 or 3 years.
Also, most laptops now use USB C. You can even charge a Microsoft Surface Pro with USB C. Chromebooks use USB C.
My point is, almost all Android devices today use the same charger, but it's not Micro USB. Cheaper kindles, cheap bluetooth headphones and some old devices use micro usb. But almost everything has been converted to USB C minus a few old or cheaper devices
Is this tablet great for online school? I don't have a big buget.
Very late response, but it's tricky. The Galaxy Tab A7 is probably one of the better Android tablets to use for something like that. It won't be as good as something like the Tab S7, but you mentioned you have a small budget.
Perhaps a better budget device for online school would be a Chromebook. Chromebooks are normally very light on resources, and if you find the right one it can be pretty nice. If you are wanting a tablet for play, but something to take notes on for school, the Lenovo Chromebook Duet may be a good option. It can download android apps, but it does have a desktop interface, like a windows computer, so you can multitask a little easier on it than you can on an android tablet.

No. Those are two features missing. I was definitely disappointed. But for the price I can understand why they left the features out

The Huawei technically has 1,000 more mAh in the battery, so a little better battery life for it. It will probably be similar as far as speed, assuming you get the Galaxy Tab 64 or 128gb versions with 3 GB of RAM. But in my opinion the Huawei is a no buy for a lot of reasons. First it's running extremely old outdated software which is in my mind a security risk and I don't see it getting newer updates. Second, Huawei has been seen as such a security risk in the US that they are literally banned from using Android in the future. They consistently lie about their products (showing real cameras shots and pretending that their phones took them) (they also have faked phone benchmarks). And they also have clear ties to the Chinese government.
If those things aren't a big deal, then you need to know that the device will stack up pretty evenly with this tablet.. The Huawei will have very outdated software. But it will have a bigger battery, and speeds will be similar.. Hopefully this helps

Great news. Any tablet OVER 10.1 inches needs an Office 365 subscription. This tablet does NOT need an Office 365 subscription so you can use Excel and Word for free.

I think this is great for taking notes, it's great for entertainment and some casual browsing.
It's not great for 15 or 20 page papers. It might lag at that point, but it will be great for some quick note taking, it's got a great screen for reading. I'd recommend getting the 64 GB ot 128 GB model. They come with 3 GB of RAM which will help speed it up

@@mounaim8729 No. I think it should be able to READ a 15 page paper just fine. But if you are writing one, through google docs or microsoft word. Editing a really long paper can take a little more power. This is great for reading and taking quick notes

@@mounaim8729 I should have addressed that part. I did have lag with he 2 GB of RAM version.... All the stuff I was mentioning was for the 3 GB version. In most cases, everything I said should apply to you.
But the 2 GB version will have to re load apps often. When apps first start up they take 3-5 extra seconds sometimes to load.. So it's harder to multitask.
I think the 3 GB of RAM version (the 64 GB or 128 GB models) would be enough for you. I'm a little iffy on recommending the 2 GB model with what you've explained. You will probably be okay with it, but I'm on the fence, just like you are
Coming from a kindle this is definitely a great tablet and especially since I use it for drawing anyway

Can you tell me if all the speakers are on one side? So if you're watching a movie, the sound only comes from one side of the screen?
The speakers are on the bottom by the charging port. One speaker on the left of the charging port and one on the right. Both speakers are on the bottom of the tablet

@@JesterCGI To be fair, it's their budget tablet. The Tab S5e has speakers on both sides. And the two speakers are pretty powerful for what they are. Many $300 phones only have speakers on one side, normally only one speaker, this tablet has two.
I really wish it had speakers on both sides too, but I'll take two decently loud speakers :)

Have you tried to put it in developer mode to reduce anumation and thus speed it up?
Yes. It can help some ways. But in some ways, it can make it worse.
Example: An app takes 10 seconds to load normally. You change the animations in developer mode to off. So you save 1-2 seconds in animations. Now you pulled up the app quicker, but you now have to wait 8 seconds while the app loads. Animations can sometimes mask your loading times, rather than you sitting on a screen during them, if that makes sense.
Some people will prefer the to remove/reduce the animations though. I think it's 50/50.
which is the cheapest samsung model that works with S-pen. I'm sure many people would want to ask this question.
