Thank you for the choice of gentle, soft music on a very low volume. Many youtubers choose horrible loud noise as their background "music".

Those God awful generic intro tracks... as a musician familiar with the production process of audio and a bit with video,
It's crazy to hear how many bigger UA-cam channels have such great visual editing,
Yet the audio sems to be slapped onto it with no mixing whatsoever - mixing being edits to the sounds to add effects, blending speech and background music properly, making sure audio levels are leveled, the highs & lows, etc etc.
You'd think they'd make enough money to afford an editor that doesn't just focus on the visual part of the videis, ala

Great overall tutorial; not just for the use of the marker techniques, but also for the actual form and sketch process. I loved your explanation of how and why you add the ink lining as you do as it helps bring the entire subject to life on the page. Great job!

Thank you for the lesson! It was very fascinating! I bought my first watercolor markers several months ago, and I'm still learning how to draw with them. I noticed that most of artists I've seen use these markers like just traditional watercolors mostly. They are using a brush to apply colors and mix them on a palette. But for this way, it's easier and cheaper to use traditional watercolors, I think :) And I'm trying to find some unique techniques for these markers. They allow us to achieve some interesting effects, something between alcohol markers (dense "cartoon" fill) and traditional watercolors. I think this is the main feature of watercolor markers, but maybe I am wrong. Anyway we have a lot ways how to use them :)

Just today I bought the Faber castell Albrecht durer watercolor markers. In using them tonight I let some of the applied markers dry completely to test a theory. And I was correct, these markers wet and dissolve much better than the winsor and newton. They don't leave lines on good watercolor paper. Just sharing for anyone who is looking to purchase.

There is no “wasting” supplies because you have to go through the process of learning to use them and make mistakes. Don’t sweat it! If you want to buy a cheaper set of something to experiment with first, do that, but nothing is a waste if you’re learning from it.

All the markers do is stain the paper and will not move no matter how quickly I applied water. I thought maybe it is the markers. I purchased Zig watercolor markers, Winsor & Newton, and now Ecoline. At this point, I am very frustrated with the whole marker idea. I would appreciate your help in understanding how to use watercolor markers.

This was nice to watch but I cannot shake the feeling that a better idea for the proposed technique would have been to use normal watercolors and some regular markers to add a bit of details. Having watercolor markers seemed redundant. Btw, I think that you can water the tip a bit before applying the marker, this way you get a bit more time before you have to activate it.

I wonder, whats the point of using watercolour markers? Since you dont benefit from the brush or bullet tip at all. You apply the colours like you would use liquid or pan watercolour.
It feels more like a "How to use watercolour" and not super specific for watercolour markers ...
I know you show how to apply the markers before on some plastic but.. thats really it when it comes to marker techniques.

Nice video BUT you really didn’t use the watercolor markers, you really only used them for the container that held the watercolors! You didn’t actually use the watercolor markers as the tool they were fabricated for. What would’ve been the difference if you used liquid or tubed or caked watercolors on your glass palette? Maybe another video of using the markers directly to the paper would be helpful?

In the video, the colour are first applied on the pallet and from there it is taken on a brush and applied on the paper? What benefit does these markers have when compared to the water colours in tubes? If we are applying the colour using brushes, then it is better to use water colours from the tubes! 🤔

@@thevirtualinstructor You have a point there! If you are going for a plein air painting, it would be easy to carry these markers and a couple of brushes and a little water with you instead of carry many tubes of paints.
