7/16 + 11/16 = a characteristic Bulgarian 9/8.
You are quite good with the odd time signatures. We consider this as 18/8 (11/8 + 7/8) the difference is where the accents are and when a part of the song has finished its 8 or 16 measures.
At the end we switch to 9/8 and E minor
@@Khanfolkcore I only found you guys about a week ago after punching Bulgarian metal into UA-cam, and I'm like an instant hardcore fanboy now. Watched your gig at Mixtape5, awesome show, great energy. Not usually a big fan of the death metal cookie monster vocals, but I make an exception for Jo's harsh vocals. The other bald headed dude can really belt it out.
This is a fave tune so far. Really great flow, great feel. I had been devouring the Bulg Folk channel. I'm ethnically Irish (didn't Celtic tribes settle Bulgaria before the Slavs? ;) and Bulgarian folk dancing is like Irish step dancing on steroids ;) There's actually a genetic similarity between Irish trad music and Bulgarian folklore; the gaida and tambura are much like the Uilleann pipes and Irish bouzouki. Andy Irvine of the legendary Irish trad band Planxty in the 70s did a bunch of busking in the Balkans and came back playing Bulgarian horos on Irish instruments. I stole his 27/8 (7/8 x 2 + 13/8) from Băneasă's Green Glade for my own tune Three Cubed.
