Seems like a great fella does Ian but he talks like he's thinking of a 100 things at the same time.
A lot of us have that mate.
Apparently hes very intelligent mate
I think he's got a degree in astrophysics
Haha so true. It’s like he wants to explain 6 different stories at one time
@@alphamentality5802 Hey Mr Alpha, I guarantee more girls and guys have found Iain Dowie more alpha than you.. A UA-cam troll.
One thing I like about dowie is how he takes responsibility for his actions/results. Everybody quick to point the finger and excuses these days
Hear hear 👏👍
Always gave 100% for club and country. Big gentleman too. Great interview.
57:17 - There's a good reason he doesn't really want to get into how he left Palace. Simon Jordan successfully sued Dowie for fraudulent misrepresentation - cases of which, are usually very difficult to prove. Dowie managed to convince Jordan to waive a £1m release clause in his contract so he could move up north to be closer to his family... he then joined our South London rivals Charlton, who were just 8 miles down the road. His phone records and a document/resume on his club laptop titled "Advancing the Addicks" proved he was in contact with Charlton before asking Jordan to waive the clause from his contract.
It was a real shame that he left Palace in the manner that he did, but I think most Palace fans have forgiven Dowie by now... playing his part in relegating Charlton certainly helped that healing process 😄. Hearing his story brings back brilliant memories for me as a young fan. Jordan made many mistakes as Palace chairman, hiring Dowie was not one of them.
Tbh I don’t think we’ve forgiven him we just laugh at him cause of how badly his charlton job went. Also looking back we are in the prem now as they’re in league 1 and obviously he’s a big part of that tbf fair to him (for them not us)
imagine how long this podcast would be if dowie actually finished explaining every thought trail he had. top stuff
Lol 😆
Lovely to see this come up in my recommended, few hours sorted for this morning
I enjoyed this one, we can't always expect every guest to come on and be confident or have outrageous stories, the fact these guys give us time to interview them and have an insight in their career. I love hearing various stories and different ways player or managers operated.
My da had one fact bout Dowie. One fact, and he told it me every time we played a Dowie team, ‘he’s got a degree that guy...’
Every fucking time.
The man who gave us "Bouncebackability"
And the corridor of uncertainty
Enjoyed that boys. Think it's quite nice to have different types of lads on and from slightly different eras too. Dowie seems a proper lovely bloke!
Keep it up lads the podcasts yous are doing have me in stitches
legend. I interviewed Iain loads when I worked for Oldham Athletic. This is a brilliant piece.
Apparently he invented the word bouncebackability, which is now in the English dictionary. True story.
There's a few inaccuracies. Bonuses were being paid at Palace, so that's untrue. Cahill wanted to go to Everton as a bigger club and turned Palace down, Carrick refused to even speak with Palace.
I'm glad a randomer on web cleared up the facts
I mean dowie was only palace manager
Played well for us at the dell, happy memories of him
I played against Iain a few times when he represented his school team in Hatfield. They were an exceptional side. Superb when he came to Luton!
Didn't know he was local - I'm a Charlton fan originally from Hitchin
This is gonna be great 👍 clicked straight on this as soon as I sin it
Hello lads, this just came on my timeline and is fantastic content. Subscribed and will look forward to the next interview!
One of the greatest nights as a Coventry fan was beating United at old Trafford with dowie in charge, an unreal night with dowie and the lads. All the best
Mifsud...
Bet you had a great nice in chasers after with Finchy
@@jdb85 the midget
As a United fan those games are horrible to lose but it always seems to live forever in your clubs folklore. Not just your club but you know what I mean.
Its nice to see he has grown Into his face
Looks like he used to play 2nd row for weekend
i love that dowie really included chris in the footy stuff. he spoke to all three of our lads equally. as a luton fan and my dad was a west ham fan i loved this.
Get Simon Jordan on lads!!
I met Iain and his family a few times 15 years ago .. lovely guy lovely family❤️
Great interview from Big Ian and he is looking younger these days 😂😂
I love Dowie, thanks guys 👍👍👍
The best manager we have had since Joe Royle............top of my wish list for oldham.....🙏
Just started watching these really funny, more fans should watch. makes you realise that footballers are just fallible humans like us “ordinary” people regardless of the money they earn and superstar status imposed on them.
Seems like a really good lad, surprised not to see John with a pint for once
Seems like an honest bloke, enjoyed this one 👍
I love dowie, proper legend and lovely guy
“...I was very very drunk.”
Like some old Rowley Birkin QC tales. Good stuff
He knows his soul!..my mate from hatfield introduced him to me back in the 90s..very nice humble guy..got lots of time for him👹
I still remember him scoring a fantastic downward header ...... into his own net
What a fascinating man, very intelligent and great fun!
Hendon legend & a great bloke.....saw him score two goals on his Hendon debut away to Hitchin Town, Unbelievable goalscorer at non-league level. His brother Bob was a decent player too.
Can't remember the name of the pub in Harpenden- we'd regularly see the Dowie brothers in there on a Sat night.
John Moncur was my hero when I was growing up so this is brilliant. Thanks as always, lads 👌🏻
Mines was Batman
John moncur haha
Simon Jordan owned him with that Court Writ …….. His searching for words around the Simon Jordan subject spells pure BS 🤣
I just read Simon’s book and Simon’s side of the story seems a lot more accurate. Dowie avoided the question here
That Grand Piano is class
Great guy. Like he’s tripping over his own words 😂
thank god someone mentioned this, I was reading the comments thinking why is no one mentioning this?? haha
It’s impossible to follow. Me ears are about to fall off.
Top man Dowie and his family.
Get Neil Warnock on when you hit 50K subscribers! Imagine lol
Colin in his tightly whiteys
Get in t’shower Jimmy, you’ll make me sick if I keep looking at ya. Go and run yourself a bath
Great taste in music
Great video gents, I have a lot of time for Ian . Shame he's not in Management given time he would do a good job., open honest interview .
Remember watching his brother Bob playing a charity game at grays athletic and the crowd shouting “go on fatty” every time he touched the ball
Me and mates hung around the Northern Ireland training as kids (we were the only 4 people there), every player and the manager signed autographs and chatted football in he Chimney Corner hotel. Except Dowie, he was my hero as N.I striker, when asked he just said no and turned his back. We were crestfallen, Bryan Hamilton said don't worry about him, he's a bit of a prat. Immediately us kids were laughing and smiling again. Dowie a real class act. NOT!
He did look like he had a chip on his shoulder many years ago but seems that’s he’s changed since then
Massive fan of the podcast you guys do a great job and get really greets guests on but a must admit a was disappointed with this one. It was a shame Dowie did not want to get into anything like not naming people and not getting into the Simon Jordan thing which would have been great to hear his point of view. It seems like he was scared of any type of backlash which am surprised considering the type of bloke he portrays to be. Well done lads for trying thou 👍
I can't make sense of a thing he said during the Jordan section. Dodged everything. He obviously feels guilty about it.
Guy in grey was the only one who asked the meaty questions and tried to get him to answer anything! He let us palace fans down, can tell he’s embarrassed about it all. Good podcast though fellas
Thanks again guys best English football podcast about . Could yous try and hook up with si ferry heard him say he loves parky and the pod would be funny and good chemistry with you boys . Top top show this nothing beats it 👍
Wish he would of explained more about charlton and what went wrong
Parkys turn to drive for once then
Cracking podcast, wish he could say exactly how he feels but obviously he needs to be more careful and rightly so
Great podcast lads, dowie definitely not as I had thought, changed my opinion of him, seems a top man
Really interesting listen, as others said he in such a rush to get his words out! 🤣 wish they had probed him more on Jordan? He lost in the high court after all, also bombed out of Charlton after 12 games. Seemed a bit star struck of him.
It's a light hearted show mate not piers morgan
😂😂
Haha matty in the end:) Great egisode
I dare anyone to play a drinking game to this everytime you hear" you know"and "listen" tried it and cant get passed 18 mins
I think that's how Jimi Hendrix died
Wish i had a Quid for every time he said Listen 🤣
Most footballers seem to say that to be fair, must be in their media training
I know, we're all fucking listening!
As a Palace fan, I shouldn't, but I bloody love Iain Dowie! Iain Dowies Red-Blue army
With Iain's budget, he fucking well achieved!! At Charlton Iain was great, agent ID
Big downer was superb.
Wish more guests recognised Chris as the top striker he was
Remember him playing for West Ham top man - talks a lot of sense as well
has browny got cycling shorts on ?
The podcast guest or gong next level
I would have to see a vote on best own goal i think the top two have been on Soccer A M obviously there is the one Iain scored and the one scored by Chris Brass he attempts to clear the ball by overhead kick as he faces his own goal the ball hits him in the face and shoots into the net
I fucking love UTC, 10/10 again lads
Ian’s a right character.very witty and legend
An absolute superstar , does a load of charity work in Bolton 25:03
Any proof of Dani doing Strictly in Portgual?
Uncle Russell always said about him "He played a whole season for West Ham & the only goal he got was an own goal"
God bless uncle Russell? How is he
@@carlitomora He's good! Sober now 🤣
Do love a good story but RVN didnt sign for United until after Dowie retired
Yeah he clearly didn't know who scored but just plucked a utd striker out of the air. Nevermind.
I met Iain Dowie once.....bloody nice bloke.
same here..totally agree!👹
David Bowie > Iain Dowie > TOWIE
I'm saying the ref was Clattenberg
Brilliant fella , loved him playing for Northern Ireland, always gave 100%
He's definitely had more than the one on the table 🍺🍺🍺
Looks in better nick now then when he was a footballer.
Can you release this again with subtitles
Subtitling company won’t touch it mate.
great podcast but... I think you guys forgot to Mr. Dowie his daily Ritalin.
Apparently hes auditioning for the role of the Riddler in the next Batman. Nice geezer but that was hard work!
Matt le tissiers favourite strike partner
Giving me head ache how many times his sentence changes direction
The Belgians crack was definitely aimed at Lawrie McMenemy who had aa short stint as NI boss.
50 pence from crowd, thats a low blow. Shame it's hard to spot em, if I saw who done it I'd prolly have done a Cantona.
Top man
Did he do a bump of snow before this.
Can’t get a sentence out compared to how he is in GSS
Doubt Dowie did but I'm certain Crossley had a stripe
The stuttering must be down to nerves. Top fella.
Wouldn’t really say he’s got a stutter - he talks a mile a minute though
Sounds powdered to me
He's so intelligent that's he's slightly socially awkward. Lovely guy
Most academics are
Love the big man #GAWA
How do all these professionals not know browny was a player aswell! Next time just put it on them, dowie was a pundit and a manager aswell 😂😂😂
Managed against him in the play off to
Was he rotten by the end 🤣
Unusual way of talking, unfinished broken thoughts from one tangent to another in one sentence
Listened to this on the drive home from work yesterday, couldn't help but think this should put him in the shop window, seemed like such a solid and smart guy.
If he took over at West Brom of Fulham I'd say they both would stand a better chance of staying up
Dowie on the gear?
What do they mean by bomb squad?
Reserves
He's gottta be on the ol party powder
Just about to watch this, wonder if he skims over his interesting time in charge of Hull.....😳
Yeah probably he was shite we (Burnley Fc) trashed Hull 4-1 at their place back end of the season and we hadn't won away til that!!!
@@MrBurnley21 I'm a Hull fan and i seem to remember Gary Alexander?(could be wrong) scoring 1 possibly 2 penalties?
@@RyanHCAFCWhitton Graham Alexander
Top pro great attitude honest as the day is long. Right about Mick Harford also KRO
Those who thinks he’s on the beak he’s always talked and acted this way it’s just normal Dowie so unless he’s been in the bugle his whole career this is his normal vibe which admittedly is a bit like he’s been on the Bolivian marching Powder but you get my point.
The ref was Mike Dean wasn't it? Its gotta be 😂
Who was the player he fined 110 bags?
No way anyone at palace was on 55k a week back then.
@@14Macca Yeah, AJ was on the most at 35K, I doubt anyone else was anywhere near that. Likes to stretch the truth does Iain.
