Hi Brandon, IMHO, A Momentary Lapse of Reason wasn't as good as The Division Bell from 1994, however being a huge Floyd fan I still reach for it if the mood is right!. It was actually The Division Bell that got me into them when I was in High School and the 2nd album listened to after The Wall... They all are great! Also have you had any votes for A Great Day for Freedom or What Do you Want from Me??

I've never heard this version but I have to say the original album version is the one you want for the full complete experience I think this must be a later remaster but it actually takes away some of the awesome sound effects!
Oh yes, I chose the 2019 remix without realizing. The original is really that different?

I love this one too. I has a very cosmic, spacey feel to it. Tony Levin is just awesomely good on bass guitar. If you delve into Peter Gabriel's solo work you will find he is featured a lot. Yes, this is on the Delicate Sound of Thunder album. A track that contains something you will L-O-V-E is the opening one: "Signs of Life". I know you will get to it eventually. Personally, I love the entire album. 💗

Not sure if this was mentioned, but this is the 2019 remixed/re-recorded version. It feels fuller and with more ambience and nuance than the original, which was much more in your face and bombastic. They wanted to re-release Momentary Lapse and pull the 80s out of it to fall more in line with the rest of the Floyd catalogue. IMO, both versions are fantastic, just different from each other.

Great reaction, Brandon! I forgot how different the two versions of the album are from each other. I love this album as well, and I recommend you listen to both versions to compare the differences and see if you prefer one to the other. I'd be curious to know. They did the same with the Obscured By Clouds album due to the recordings sounding muffled and stuffy. The 2016 version REALLY let's it breathe much more. Keep them coming, man!

well done on reacting to this under the radar pink floyd song, the whole 'momentary lapse of reason' album is underrated I think but this song in particular, I haven't seen anyone do it yet. Take note that the whole of pink floyds songs are related in one way or another in that a word here or there will remind you of another albums lyrics or vibe. could this song be called a hidden gem? I think so , but only cos its not that played much. for me this song is a 4/5 song i love how it plays underrated but interesting vibe.

I have always been so anti remix or remaster whichever word is the word of the day. Sometimes the drums can sound hollow, the guitars have this tinny sound and on and on, but actually this doesn't sound too different. This was very enjoyable. Good choice of songs tonight also Brandon

I really love this album, despite the fact that I consider it more a Gilmour solo effort than a real Pink Floyd one (not totaly unlike its predecessor The Final Cut and Roger Waters I hope you'll react to).
I love it too. Amazing and diverse sounds between songs. I plan to finish the whole PF catalog (at least 1970-1994) so I shall get to The Final Cut eventually I'm sure. Thanks!

The live version from The Delicate Sound of Thunder is tops (ua-cam.com/video/HaroBsuvKb4/v-deo.html)! The actual concert audio has a corrupted part at around 3:40 that I think can't be mixed out, but it's definitely worth checking out! I think that the remastered version actually makes a lot of use of Nick Mason's percussion from the the concert, which I think moves the original into a more timeless feel than the somewhat-dated 80s production sound.

Ohhh yeah, KNEW you'd love this one! I get pushback from PF 'purists' for regarding this song so highly - Top 20, easily - and I don't need to justify it, in fact I can understand where they are coming from to a degree. In his role as the new bandleader, David learned a hard lesson about finding balance between speaking his uncompromised truth, and playing the media game when it served the band's best interest. He once said, essentially, this song doesn't mean anything; he just wanted to create a quintessentially Floydian soundscape, and the lyrics were tacked on solely to augment the mood. Of course, that gave ammunition to the detractors who said aMLoR was a hollow, cynical product, but I get what Dave was trying to do and say, even if his explanation was too nuanced for the media to parse and...ironically..a little tone-deaf. Also, as mentioned elsewhere, this remastered version is notable for stripping away some of the 80's production and restoring Nick and Rick's contributions, but I feel in this case they cut a little too close to the bone. On your time, do compare this to the original release. You will love it even more, guaranteed.

@@retroreactions.... Yes, from Dogs of Capitalism, to Dogs of WARRR! *tsk Whatchoo got against doagies, Pink Floyd? Did you see the cover art to Roger Waters's redux of Dark Side? It could be argued that the dog is more emblematic of the band than the pig, given how often they reference them.

Great pairing for our Pink Floyd Friday! It’s amazing live… I saw this one up in Milwaukee back in ‘87, with Guy Pratt on bass. Tony Levin though,is an amazing bass player!!! I’ve seen him several times with Peter Gabriel and also with Anderson, Bruford, Wakeman and Howe. Another supergroup to add onto your massive list is “The Liquid Tension Experiment”, which includes Tony Levin, along with Mike Portnoy, John Petrucci and Jordan Rudess. It’s described as “progressive metal”, but is just great prog instrumentals including many slower tracks.

As far as Liquid Tension Experiment, their first album from 1998 has several songs you’d like. I’d recommend “Osmosis”, “Freedom of Speech” or “State of Grace”. Liquid Tension Experiment 2 from 1999, has many great songs as well. I’d recommend “Biaxident” or “Liquid Dreams”. This is all from the ‘90s of theirs, although they have albums in the 2000s. Petrucci left and they became “Liquid Trio Experiment” for a couple albums, then he returned. You might want to Wiki their history.
