The Jets would need to check him out. It's difficult to tell where he's at fitness-wise and where he would fit in the line up. However, his prowess in the face off circle is an upgrade over everybody currently on the roster.
@@bradiethomson9555 If this was a preseason move, a pto would make great sense. However at this point of the season, if other interested teams offered him a guaranteed contract & reasonable pay, he would be more likely to take that. If it was possible(*) I could see teams offering him a contract with performance bonuses. So that prevent tying up a lot of money in him if he doesn't pan out.
He'd have to be a 4th line grinder for it to work. At 36 years of age, at 100% effort per shift, 10-12 minutes per game, he could theoretically win a cup for Winnipeg. Sure, he could move up and down the line, depending on injuries, but its very hard to find room for him otherwise. Johnny understands the importance of having stacked depth lines. His voice in the locker would also be big. The Jets might also want to be eyeing a top 4 D man (top 2 maybe?), with some size from places like NYR, Nashville or other teams that are probably going to blow things up soon.
If his conditioning level can be tested to be adequate and run him through a few practices then give it a shot. His face off abilities and his defensive play would definitely be an asset if it can be proven that he is up to NHL conditioning at speed.
@@SportsTalkWPG Thankfully proven wrong. I know Jonathan had been getting some treatment, but it didn't sound like he was this close to returning, so I guess he's feeling it.
If he’s able to play and can bring that experience in the playoffs, which is what this team sorely lacks, he’s worth given serious consideration to signing
Yes 100% People expecting him be former self isn't realistic but leadership, cups, faceoffs will still be there jas connection Chevy from Chicago. Having lines like Connor Scheifele Villardi Ehlers Namestnikov Perfetti Nino Lowry Appleton Iafallo Toews Chibrikov would be 4 dangerous lines. Give up option target a dman at deadline. Another reason maybe simular Thornton,Spezza,Marleau,Giordano in Toronto can move on to take position in GM/role on team Chevy isn't getting younger,Heisinger,or even a position like Keane/Roy have development. More guys doing things for community or who would live here 12 months a year. Not go home and only stay for hockey it's why getting guys who want to play here or win matters. Saves assets we could use to aquire a dman deadline like Sanheim,Byram,Parayko,Provorov,Ristolainen,Pulock,Savard.
If he could be a solid 2nd line centre. Similar to a stastny or monahan, or at least close to that level. Without having to give up draft picks would be an excellent pickup. Great on faceoffs which is huge, and a nice storyline too.
How can you say that Colorado and Winnipeg are both interested in him when neither one of those teams have ever said anything about it? Sure it would be a story for him to go to his hometown but that's about it. Just ridiculous!!!
After doing ayurveda for weeks with daily vomiting and enemas you wouldn't think he would be in any type of hockey shape especially since he's been out this long at his age.
He will not be a number 2 or number 3 center here, not sure where he would fit at his expected cap hit, which will likely be relatively significant for most teams in Cup contention. Toews is a gamble signing, if you roll 7's, good on you, if not.....
@SportsTalkWPG They may be interested, but I guess what I should have said is "good ideas". Toews hasn't played pro hockey in a long time, and he wasn't playing that well even then. Unless he has improved dramatically, signing him would be a publicity move, and I'm not a fan of making a move like that.
Would honestly be more of a mistake to not sign him. It won’t be for anything other than league min and worst case he’s just a guy on the sheets if he’s not good enough or is a locker room issue.
The Jets would need to check him out. It's difficult to tell where he's at fitness-wise and where he would fit in the line up. However, his prowess in the face off circle is an upgrade over everybody currently on the roster.
Bring him in cheap on a pto no loss. Why not

Many people doubted Zach Collaros' return. Nuf said.
I remember those conversations people were wondering if he should retire.

Thanks for this - missed lots of the shows this week.
Yes, for the jersey sales alone.
If he’s able to play and can bring that experience in the playoffs, which is what this team sorely lacks, he’s worth given serious consideration to signing
Yes 100%
People expecting him be former self isn't realistic but leadership, cups, faceoffs will still be there jas connection Chevy from Chicago.
Having lines like
Connor Scheifele Villardi
Ehlers Namestnikov Perfetti
Nino Lowry Appleton
Iafallo Toews Chibrikov would be 4 dangerous lines.
Give up option target a dman at deadline.

Winnipeg manitoba boy go jets go🎉
Yes, Jonathan Toews would make the Jets a way better team.
If he could be a solid 2nd line centre. Similar to a stastny or monahan, or at least close to that level. Without having to give up draft picks would be an excellent pickup. Great on faceoffs which is huge, and a nice storyline too.
He’d be a terrible 2C he’s 36 he’d be a perfect 4C and PK guy
Probably not happening but if it did, 4C is the only place hed fit being old and being away from the game for so long now.
Jets need a Dman more.
would be an interesting move. 2C and a D are definitely the needs right now.
Id love for toews to come home.
We should also sign Patrick Sharp, Duncan Keith, and Dustin Byfuglien
PTO. No risk to the team.
I we can get
him on a good deal(sub 900 000 AA) sure, but otherwise its to big a risk
If there is any money left after signing Ehlers then sure...
Ehlers next contract would kick in next year.
3 teams... I think 'his' first choice would be the Av's 🙂 to make another Cup run... 😂
Depends on his health
How can you say that Colorado and Winnipeg are both interested in him when neither one of those teams have ever said anything about it? Sure it would be a story for him to go to his hometown but that's about it. Just ridiculous!!!
That is what Frank Seravalli reported on Amazon Prime Coast to Coast Thursday night.
@SportsTalkWPG So you just took his show and did it for yourself even though it has no truth to it at all? Come on man!
@@Chris-King88Come on man don't be ridiculous.
I believe frank and Darren both reported it
Nope, we need healthy players, ready to go full strength.
If the jets were smart they would sign him.
After doing ayurveda for weeks with daily vomiting and enemas you wouldn't think he would be in any type of hockey shape especially since he's been out this long at his age.
I would explore two way deal with the moose let him feel out where he feels he is at on the moose and if he is doing ok bring him up
Almost 0% chance of this happening.
If the jets are able then do it.
He will not be a number 2 or number 3 center here, not sure where he would fit at his expected cap hit, which will likely be relatively significant for most teams in Cup contention. Toews is a gamble signing, if you roll 7's, good on you, if not.....
A hard NO!!!!! Don't want him.
Absolutely NO
Nope
Absolutely not. Let's talk about some more serious ideas ok?

@@sixstring68 thank you for elaborating. certainly a fair comment.
It won't happen. The medicine affected his health
No thank you, don't need him ever
First of all, who says he would want to play in Winnipeg, secondly he's been out of hockey to long and with his age, definite PASS!!!!!!
No
Huge mistake jets don’t need that distraction team is gelling as is don’t need him especially this version of Toews
Would honestly be more of a mistake to not sign him. It won’t be for anything other than league min and worst case he’s just a guy on the sheets if he’s not good enough or is a locker room issue.
Nope never , older super stars looking for last kick at the cat , investors in future not past
A terrible idea.
If he is a JET I will buy a jersey otherwise the Jets will be the Team that I try to like
No
