CAMPUS CRAWL is the series where I take you to the best college campuses across the world! I'll show you the student life, campus culture, and interesting traditions each school has to offer. Hopefully, it'll inspire you to go explore your dreams.
The University of Washington or UW (pronounced "udub") as the students call it, is often referred to as the Public Ivy Leauge of the Westcoast. Basically, it's the Harvard of west.
I loved the college campus layout and architecture. Everything just works so well together. Suzzallo Library was my favorite. It's literally the Harry Potter room. It's HUGE - the biggest study hall I've seen thus far. I can imagine myself flying brooms in it.
During our college vlog, we first visited the Red Square. This is the center of University of Washington.
Then we went straight to The Quad. This is like the Harvard Yard, except even prettier! The Quad has red brick buildings and a huge grass field just like Harvard, but it's also covered with cherry blossom trees. So in the spring, it's absolutely stunning.
Afterward, we went to the Husky stadium - the home of the Huskies! UW loves the Huskies. Go Dawgs!
Right by the stadium is a lake. The University of Washington has a special tradition called "Sailgating." It's like tailgating, but instead hosting a pre-game party in the trunk of your car, the party is on a boat.
Then we went to check out the electrical computer engineering classrooms. Fun Fact: UW's computer lab is where Bill Gates first developed his interest for computers.
Lastly we went to the Suzzallo Library. It's magical.
Overall, student life at UW is vibrant and full of spirit. The bad thing is that Seattle rains too much.

As a UW student, I wouldn’t say UW is a “huge party school”. Yes, there are parties, but academic are def more important
Yeah I guess my definition of huge is a little loose haha
UW was rated A for party scene on Niche.com though ;)
Only a party school if you’re in greek life, zero partying otherwise -UW student
I think you would have to put on a duck costume and head down to Oregon to find party to join in on.
I mean the parties are good but we are definitely not a party school or anything. Academics are definitely more important to majority of students.
I wish you had talked about "The Ave," just cuz it's such a huge part of the experience at UW. But this was a great tour!
if they talked about the ave no one would want to come here 😭 they'd be too scared of getting mugged by an axeman lmao
Esmé L please explain...
@@esmel7845 yeah because Everyone’s businesses was getting broken into on the ave
he did a good job leaving that out
Right? It’s practically a staple.
Bro, you're really changing the game, with your youtube contents. You're spreading good vibes and bringing us closer to our dream schools than anyone else on youtube. Thank you!
Bro you don’t know how grateful I am for your comment. I’m so happy to see that my videos are inspiring you!
Hafu needs to check out the College Life Presents channel and the Crimson Education channel to learn more techniques for creating amazing videos.
:)
Hi, a senior at UW here (been here for the past 4 years), I agree with the many comments saying UW isn't a huge party school, which we are not. During our home games, students do not get free tickets, we purchase them but for a much cheaper price (Dawg Pack Tickets). We do have sunny days in Seattle, I get we have the reputation of being a rainy city but students have a chance of enjoying the sun throughout the school year. I appreciate wanting to appeal to viewers to the school but please do more research before doing these videos
May I ask you about the safety of the school and if there were a lot of incidents because I am considering to apply for UW.
@@Name-en4lg the school is safe overall, they have campus police/security and also other services that drops off students to their dorms (walking partner/buses), but I’m not sure because of COVID, I graduated last year and I’m not sure
@@evachuc7507 congratulations 🥳🥳🥳
:)
thank you for this comment because hearing that it's so rainy there really turned me off because I LOVE the sun. I hope to apply to this college.
Wow, way to do my college justice!!! I forget the beauty and uniqueness of UW all the time. Amazing job!
Some more details below:
-The Electrical Engineering building is one of the two Computer Science Buildings
-We do jump in the fountain when it’s cleaned every other year and it’s extremely deep (8-12ft)
-The maker studio is in two of the student dormitories, so no matter where you live on campus you’ll have easy access to one
-the study space at UW is enormous, we basically have an entire 3 floor library dedicated to studying
Giving such good insight! You’re a true fan Michelle
Yupp
May I ask you about the safety because I am considering to apply to UW.
wow! I didn’t realize the fountain and study space were that enormous
DEFINITELY NOT A PARTY SCHOOL lmao.
cap
WOOOOO!! anyone just get in??
Me!
Me too!!!
yess
Me!!!
Welcome
The university is super dope, it's like Harry Potter place , super grand, I never see such buildings, just like a dream, super gorgeous cherry blossoms, super football stadium, super cool
Yeah it’s gorgeous!
As a current student at UW, it was really cool to see this video. You did a great job showing the campus and even I learned about a spot that I didn't know was there. Great Job!
Which spot are you talking about?
@@hafu Area 01, I don't live on campus so I spend a lot of time commuting. I haven't really had a chance to explore much of the campus yet since I'm in my second quarter there. So it was really cool to see Area 01 and what is available there for the students.
Aahhh I see! Definitely check out Area01 it’s such a creative space
@@aliciahm16 what is the fees structure for BS in biology for international students ??
@@javedhassan9284 Sorry I just saw this, but I'm not sure, I'm not an international student and my major is biochemistry but I would highly recommend contacting one of the faculty heads for the biology major. They would at least be able to direct you to correct information. I'm sorry I can't really help.
Yeah uw is great unless you’re trying to get into a capacity constrained major lol & the school def has their favorites when it comes to clubs and sports ifykyk
😂😂😂
i remember when i was younger i viewed UW as my backup college (over 10 years ago) but as i entered high school the competition got a lot higher. i live 45 minutes away from UW so it was just that “one nice college near me” so i never thought much about it. watching this makes me realize how nice of a school it really is. i never really wanted to attend bc i always saw it as “the backup”
dont recommend this university. its conducting cruel experiments on primates in their labs. dozens of monkeys died there of starvation and dehydration throughout the years. the experiments themselves are completely pointless. please make the right choice
Hope you enjoyed Bellevue Community College
Do UW part 2 one day! Henry Art Museum, The Ave, University Village, IMA, Foster, and other UW/Seattle related stuff would be dope.
Yeah I’d definitely love to go back in the spring
@@hafu Not this spring tho cuz corona, go in the fall once this all passes
@@hafu Also the HUB!!
@@hafu UW school of medicine is also a must!! Consistently rated #1 nationwide for primary care, and gets hugeee research grants (I believe it come in second after Harvard!!)
Actually a big part of UW Greek life culture is weekday parties in particular Tuesday and Thursdays to avoid the highschool kids in the city coming to weekend parties. Weekends in Greek life are either small hangouts, invite only GADs (grab a dates), or formal dances
Hey man! I’m actually headed to UW next fall and not only was this the best campus video, but I’m high key even more pumped for school! Thanks 🤙🏻
I’m excited for you Dylan!! Congrats on your acceptance 🎉
I was going to see the cherry blossoms this year but the coronavirus had to ruin everything :/
Also, I love seeing Dubs (the dog) in your video!
Hey I got you ;)
Yeah, school announced students (+tourists) not to come to the campus
@@hojunlee4049 yup, and now we don't have school for 6 weeks (idk if it applies to UW though, I just know that they're closed)
@@queenelizabeth8145 now it's closed til June :)
:)
Thank you for your content! Watching your videos is super inspiring and I makes me want to work even harder. I just visited the school in January and it is definitely one of my dream schools after UCLA and USC. It'll be such a tough decision to make which school I want to go to, but your video got me really hyped. Keep up the good work!
I was waiting for this one for a long time.
Definitely worth waiting!!!
Love ya Bro!!
What’s up man I remember you from the live stream! Thanks for the love ❤️
Awesome video again . Thanks for helping me to know about different universities so that I could select the right University for my future career . Thanks a lot HAFU!!!
That’s what I love to hear man! Keep working towards your dreams
This university is indeed magical, thanks for sharing such an amazing place 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Still can't believe I got accepted, so excited 💓
how's it so far? im a senior in hs and I'm applying
@@jesheleche go to WSU its way better
@@samfulton435 That’s an unpopular opinion. Most people prefer University of Washington, which I myself do as well. I toured last year and it was amazing, everything people say it is❤️
I didn’t have time to party while I studied here. My academics were more important so I agree with the “not huge into partying” assessment 😂 I loved this tour. It takes me back. It still remains one of the most beautiful campuses. I’m thinking of returning here for my Master’s.
Even though I wasn't an enrolled student, I so enjoyed to go there and study or get tutoring. Such an inspiration!
As a UW student, watching this video gives a different vibe of the university. It makes me proud to attend this school.👏😁
Are Europeans accepted there?
Can they also get a scholarship?
Love your videos man! keep up the good work. Also your editing is amazing
students actually don’t get free tickets to football games, there’s a limited amount of a student package per season
We do on that husky game day he mentioned however
this series is one of the best ive seen on youtube!
You keeps me motivated and inspired with every videos. Thanks again.
What’s your big goal right now?
@@hafu to work at fang
This new Campus Crawl just BLEW my mind! That intro was so cool!! Way to go Hafu
thank you so much I put a lot of work into this one
Hafu Go CU BOULDER?!
@@hafu It's no longer catchy intro, but slow. Why not revert back?
Fantastic tour! I never went there so I lived in Seattle but I went to community college instead. But I have spent a lot of time walking around the beautiful campus and definitely love the fountain and the quad area! So beautiful :-)
As a sophomore student at UW, this guy apparently hasn't heard of the " competitive major system"
what’s that?
I wish people explored the building for environmental science and forestry more. Looks like a literal victorian building hidden in the woods
Great Job! Love it! You are the best Hafu!
Thank you Robbie!!
Great job bro, defiantly a great school and architecture. Thanks for the content!
I’m just glad you enjoyed it man!
I hope to become a student there at some point, right now I'm in the hiring process for an on campus job so I'm excited to get to see the place. Now because of your video I'm even more hyped :D it looks beautiful and I'm already obsessed with the library and I've never even been there lol.
I’m planning on going here one day, this makes me even more hyped! 💜
Amazing content! Thanks for promoting Seattle :) rain is good 🤣
Haha I’m from Vancouver so we have the same weather
Hafu Go that makes sense :) after the virus blows away you can come visit Twitter Seattle office :)
This is so much amazing!!🎊🎇
I just looove your crawls, best i have ever seen, keep going💪🏻💪🏻💪🏻
Thank you Asal!!!
As a UW student, I am so glad to see this video. The coursework is heavy in UW that I couldn't have the time to explore lots of the beautiful views.
Such a quality content ! 🎉
Thank you bro
this made me sad. Finishing my masters at UW this spring and I’m not sure I’ll get the chance to say goodbye to campus.
This is so beautiful I cantttt
Definitely applying here to UW not just because of this video but because I really want to major in English. Crossing my fingers and wishing myself good luck
Most def going on my list of colleges!
7:16 i've been here for 3 years and i didn't know that was the administration building lmao...i just called it the bells building bc there's bells on top of the tower on the left that play sometimes between classes
@hafu go
Thank you.
Love you.
Well done.
You are awesome. I'll be supporting you and love you❤️
Thank you bro ❤️
You deserve more subs! Can't wait until you reach 100k!
Thank you Jessica! I can’t wait either cuz then we get to go to Oxford!!
Actually, the Computer Science and Computer Engineering majors are taught primarily in the new Bill and Melinda Gates Center as well as the Paul G Allen Center rather than the Electrical and Computer Engineering (ECE) building (although the Allen center is attached to ECE).
This is the best videos I'v seen in my life thanks alot 😊
WOW man. Was waiting for this video to come for like a couple weeks now. Amazing video 😍
Now please do Michigan and Chicago next.
Thanks
Was it worth the wait? ;)
@@hafu bro, it definitely was.
A hundred percent YES. ♥️
And I can tell you that after the British Columbia and Harvard one, this is my third most favorite video of yours.
God bless and keep working hard and inspiring us to do hardwork to get there one day.
Thanks and regards ✌️
You changed the super catchy intro. from the first posted UW video that looked a lot catchier and snappy. The edits and quick flashes made the intro very exciting. This 2nd edit is slow. UW is NOT known to be a Party Campus, but a competitive academic campus. Yes, there's a time to play, but we study quite a bit to expand. There's an expanded HUB or student union is nice. Thanks for your campus video and enthusiastic style.
Omg I like your vidoes. I'm not quite sure if you have other contents, but this alone is pretty much mazing. 😊😊😊
UW Alumni here. I don't think we party hard, but you were spot on with everything else. Nice video!
Wow he makes UW look better than it usually does
Hahahah cuz it’s usually pouring rain
This makes me miss UW even more as a quarantining student lol
As an international audience, you really put this campus on the map brooooo, damn this campus is pretty damn dooooope
Yeaaaa it’s really pretty
this is and has always been my dream skl, my parents went here and i was born in seattle. i love university village though aswell
Brother, every time you post a video I say to myself I am so glad I am your friend yet until you become Maddog famous and you forget me haha dude the upgrade level is exponentially high and I fully enjoyed it till the last second and ooo yea remember the hafu humor I told you about in Tsinghua that I extremely like yea it’s back and am loving it
bro when you become a billionaire entrepreneur don't forget me either!
you are really good with what you do, keep it up.
I’m glad you enjoyed it!!
OMG THIS IS AWESOME😭😭😭
its sm prettier than i thought, def applying this year!!
It's a very beautiful campus. Wow.
Just got accepted to UW as a psych major!!! Haven’t committed yet, but excited!!!!
UW is one of 4 match schools that i currently have! i was way to broke to take a tour there so this was so nice to see!
match schools?
Stellan Rogers so like collegeboard considers UW as a match school for me bc i fall within the average to slightly above average range of the school (based off of sat/act) and their acceptance rate is above 20-25% (UW is abt a 49% acceptance rate). any school with less than a 20-25% acceptance rate is considered a reach school for anyone no matter the grades.
This video made me proud of being UW student 😊💜
This university looks more beautiful than the Vatican City! And bigger than it to. I really want to go here! Wow!
dont recommend this university. its conducting cruel experiments on primates in their labs. dozens of monkeys died there of starvation and dehydration throughout the years. the experiments themselves are completely pointless. please make the right choice
I actually didn’t want to attend this school as I wanted to get out of state but for money reasons I’m going there and your video makes me kinda excited to go hahah so yay!
🙌🏻i currently go to Uw!! I highly recommend :) gorgeous place for sure but also a ton of resources
I am pretty sure you will be in the top youtuber in the world! I can picture yourself shooting videos in different countries!❤
Thank you ❤️❤️
Seattle gets sun in the summer! seattle summers are the best!
You make the best Campus visit videos...
Please do more...
Will do
One of my dream schools 🏫
Could you do campus crawl in University of Michigan? Really looking forward to that!
University of Washington has a beautiful campus!😍
Keep up your amazing work Hafu and thanx for making the best campus videos!
Love from India!
Thank you ankita! I’m glad you loved it
This is a BEAUTIFUL UNIVERSITY!!! I'm born & raised in NYC but I've always been in the love with the PNW since I was a kid after watching The Goonies... 😂😂
Thursday is the party night for frats and sororities. A lot of people are local so commute home for the weekend. Also the stadium holds 70k people.
It's awesome hafu
Thanks for the awesome vid! Our gym (the IMA) is massive and is something worth checking out too! It's in close proximity to the stadium!
I would say 6 months of the year the weather is pretty depressed 😅 from October to March😂 my hometown’s weather is really sunny and warm, so my time at Seattle winter was really suffering, for those of you don’t like rain, please reconsider before you go to UW.
This video was more informational and interesting than the A&O 😂 y’all should have shown north campus and the IMA
It's very depressing when you plan to go and shot at a certain campus and you find that it's rainy and cloudy once you get! And you don't have the leverage of going back the next day or so because you don't actually live there! I know this feeling!
As an alumnus I have to say that students do not get free football tickets, they are greatly discounted but it's GA in the student section. I recall at least sometimes getting free tickets to volleyball, soccer, and other generally non-televised sports, just not any of the major sports.
you forgot one of the greatest master pieces of architecture aka Padelford Hall
LMAOOOOO
Lol, my office is in Padelford and this comment is hilarious.
I graduated in 2016. My neice I'd looking at colleges so, I wanted to check out UA-cam videos.
I thought this was by a UW student at first but he's getting so much wrong I realized he's not.
It's a cool idea to go around & tour, but it's important to be accurate. It's 2 years old. He's likable. I hope he's still going, but has learned to research a little better.
2:57. We don't have sun in Washington, just varying amounts of clouds.
Woohoo! I want to go here for that reason and the rain
On the west side of the state
very good footages!
This guy said UW a party school?.... that's wasu
I think he missed on that one point. UDUB isn't a university for a good social life.
party school compared to his school? ...
I’m going to attend UW Seattle this Fall for CS!
how are you doing now?
Looks similar to PENN's campus with the building architecture, library and yard. Will be choosing UW as one of my safety schools when applying for masters programs in a year or so.
Haha I saw you filming this on my way to Ode a few weeks ago.
lol this dude is fuckin awesome.....changed my perception of UW completely I loved his attitude
This place looks so cool, maybe you just changed my future🤔
the 1101 lights were installed in maple hall and I didn't know that. In case anyone didn't know, 1101 was the dining hall in the old Terry Hall which was demolished. RIP
I love u Hafu ❤
I feel your love ❤️
@@hafu 😘😍😍😍😘
You are great, Bro.
Haha you’re pretty great too!
Ahh my dream school!
You should do a campus crawl. Then a day in a life of one of their students.
When this was my dream school but got rejected 🙃
:((
You can always try transferring later.
If they gave you the option to join the waitlist, take it. I was rejected too but I was accepted off the waitlist yesterday.
Jim K. Sadly no, but I’ll try again later and hope I can transfer
What were your stats?
Just got accepted! Really thinking of going :)
Proud to be a Dawg, proud to have been in Greek life, and I love Husky football. Please do research before representing iconic schools. Definitely not a party school dude and we pay for football tickets.
Can you do Princeton next?
Yeah Princeton is definitely on the list
