I don't mind unsolicited messages from recruiters. What I do mind is the number of recruiters who provide little to no detail about what job they're trying to recruit me for. I think it should be a requirement on LinkedIn in for all recruiters to provide the name of the company, the role, whether it's remote or in-person, and, MOST IMPORTANTLY, the salary range! Why should I waste my time with you if you give me nothing to work with?!
@@daddyinacaddy why? I get messages from recruiters all the time who explicitly tell me the company they recruit for. If someone's already reached out to me and expressed interest, why would I take the hard route and apply directly?
Early days of LinkedIn were awesome, now it's just a Facebook/Twitter playground for HR/managment people, but weird thing is I got more job-landed thanks to it.
I'm starting to hate LinkedIn because it's either full of: -"Inspirational" quotes full of BS. -Companies disguising ads as posts (where are trying to work there not be customers) -Politics that has nothing to do with the company. All my college professors wanted me to make a LinkedIn, I was told that I wouldn't be able to get a job without a LinkedIn. I started at 90k, now 6 years later at base pay of 130k, over 3 different jobs and still have never had a LinkedIn account. 🤷
The few times I saw political arguments on linkedin it made me laugh, trying to imagine a recruiter going back and uncovering these angry trump vs Democrat fights like it's the bottom barrel of Twitter. What do you think they're gonna take from that? I think us in GenZ who grew up in the tech world realize that we can never outrun the memory of the internet, and given the privacy breaches of big tech, maybe explains a more conservative approach to linkedin
I use LinkedIn as an online CV. I keep it updated with courses or news projects I make. I also stopped looking at what other people are posting, it just doesn't really bring much value. Most people that I know that are active on LinkedIn don't do much outside of it.
No offense but frankly LinkedIn is becoming trashy by the day, I really don't want it to turn into the same influencer Hodge podge all trying to sell stupid products like telemarketers with increasingly cringey videos. And if that happens I'm definitely gonna be sayin' bye bye birdie.
Nowadays the biggest problem in LinkedIn is that people are starting to use it as Facebook/Instagram/Twitter or even Tiktok. I liked how Linkedin used to be 5-7 years ago....🙄😏

Keep LinkedIn professional; simple as that. That would make it more different and unique than Facebook, Instagram, etc.
