Made this theory up in my mind, but for me could be the enderman, the enderman is enormous for a regular human size in minecraft, they can fit in caves unlike the ender dragon, and surely can fit under a tree, if you an the enderman look at each other, the enderman will attack like if it were jealous of something (your face).
