    One thing I discovered while assembling Ikea kitchen cabinets is that the screws are usually Pozidriv (not Phillips) and are much easier to screw in with a proper Pozidriv bit. If you're doing a lot of Ikea cabinet builds, do yourself a favour and pick up a Pozidriv bit.

      Great tip! Not sure why there’s so many versions but I guess it’s the European aspect to it.

      @@uptokode as soon as I get the backsplash up! Killer video series though, every time I got something level the wife would ask if it’s “bang on.” haha.

    Have you used Sektion for a bathroom remodel?

    Hammering all those nails in the back are a big slow down. I shot 1-1/4” trim nails after squaring up the cabinets with perfect results.

    @Kody I have the same sink cabinet and that back panel is so flimsey. Do you have any videos where you've made your own more solid back panel out of plywood or something. I want to put an outlet for the disposal at the back and I can't do anything with the flimsey back panel.

      See video link below. I have covered this topic in other vids as well. Essentially you install a piece of 3/8” plywood behind that flimsy panel and you sandwich the 3/8” between that and your wall or another finished panel if it’s an island.

    How do you have brown boxes?!! I can only find white.

    • @uptokode
      @uptokode  Рік тому

      At this point I can only assume they might still have them available. IKEA has changed a lot in the past few years, in terms of cabinet colors and selections. I think you if want the dark cabinet box you would have to ask ikea. 🤷‍♂️

    Where did you get the dark brown IKEA cabinets? All I see in IKEA’s website are white.

      @@uptokode I don't see it. Tried to change the cabinet color but it only gives white as an option. Might be a temporary thing due to Covid. Idk

    We have 36x14 3/4 by 40 upper cabinets from ikea. How do you keep the shelves from sagging in such a wide cabinet?

    • @uptokode
      @uptokode  2 роки тому +1

      Not sure to be honest. At least an IKEA shelf is 3/4” thick versus the most common at 5/8”. They are pretty sturdy

    I don't need the book..
    I'm a pro.
    I know every piece out of the box and its placement in proper order.
    When I hire someone who tells me they are IKEA professionals.
    I toss the instructions booklet in the 🗑 trash.
    Good times...
    Prepping for power, lighting, water lines, etc. is the prerequisite key variable..
    Unpacking and staging the units w/ cardboard or underlayment protection is critical for assembly.
    IKEA Toe-kick & base trim is worthless crap ...btw
    Islands, cabinet modifications and countertops should be done professionally ..imho

    I cringe when I see RTA cabinets in a kitchen. At least glue everything you possibly can.

      They are all screwed together, covered with a single sheet of 5/8” - 3/4” ply screwed down across the top and covered with quartz countertops. So long as you don’t do a flying drop kick into the side of your island, they aren’t going to fall apart..
